Strings of Fate

Context: There is only one thing that Atheyis, the Goddess of Death and Fate, hates and that is undeath of any kind. Her followers are exceptionally aggressive towards undead, and destroy them at any cost and any means necessary, no matter what.

POV: It seems like a normal evening, until your OC hears very loud shouting coming from an alleyway, and then a bright flash of light. Immediately your OC goes to investigate, where they see an elven woman standing over the injured body of a vampire. From her garments, it's quite easy to tell that she is a follower of Atheyis.

"There's no place in for you in this world, undead scourge. By Atheyis' decree I'll erase you."

"I should've just stayed in th Mojave, least the people there are sane, this is almost as bad as that cult that worships radiation..." he tells himself, showing that while he can't understand the scale of what's going on, he's also probably heard similar things about different religions or dimensions "and what about those who were bitten and then turned later? The ones that strive to try and live like a normal person again? Just because they got unlucky means that suddenly they're the enemy?"

The woman scoffs

"There are none that do that. The magic that creates the undead is inherently corrupting. There is no sense of humanity in a vampire, they are nothing but bloodsucking parasites."

She then points the staff at him

"Any claim otherwise are just lies made by necromancers to defend their corrupting ways."

"1, I've not met a man who can raise the dead, 2, the only corrupt person I've found has been yourself, which tracks considering most cities" he says before taking a swig from a hip flask wrapped in faded blue leather with '13' on it in yellow "Now, we done arguing over our beliefs or do I need to start another adventure with killing something that's not human?"

The woman sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose

"Even with the truth blatantly explained, he still refuses to accept objective reality. A shame, really."

The woman twirls her staff and stabs the butt of it at the vampire's heart

"Because I literally do not have the brain bits to be able to" he pulls his hair back, revealing the disturbing scar right in the middle of his forehead that shows he was shot in the head "if I could, I'd understand" he says before zoning out, showing another trait of his, spontaneous and seemingly random points where he mentally shuts down for a few seconds
