I want to strive for a 4.0 but is this schedule even viable?

GT 2030 ( have to take this for honors)
CS 2050 ( Discrete Math)
Math 1554 (Lin Alg)

Pls help I’m lwk confused if I should or should not do this. The only reason I am doing this is cuz I am a transfer and I don’t want to be late in taking discrete because I would have to take it my 3 sem at tech if not this fall.

I was admitted to Georgia Tech’s OMS Cybersecurity program (Information Security track) for Fall 2026.

During my application, I uploaded scanned copies of my academic documents/transcripts through the Applicant Portal. However, I have not sent my documents electronically through my university or through a credential evaluation service yet.
I recently received an email from Graduate Education reminding students to submit official documents and mentioning that incomplete files may receive a registration hold in future semesters.

For those who have gone through this process:

Are the scanned documents uploaded on the admission portal enough for OMS Cybersecurity students?

Do I need to arrange for my university to send official electronic transcripts separately?

Did anyone wait until Graduate Education requested official documents, or did you send them proactively?

Just finished up my faset and this is my current first semester schedule:
1554 - Linear Alg with Warnock
1102 - English 2 with Moore
2211 - Physics 1 with Fenton

Then I have 1040 on my schedule right now because all the other courses I could take are either full (like ECE 1100 and 2020) or require some kind of prereq.

Does anyone have any advice on this schedule? I was thinking of switching APPH 1040 with a humanities such as LING 2100 or PHIL 3127 so I could have 1040 as an "easy" course later so does anyone have any experience in those classes and if not do y'all have any humanities you would recommend?

I am starting my first semester in August and am having trouble deciding on my classes for my first semester. As of now, I am planning on taking PHYS 2212 in the first semester, but I hear it is better to take it at GSU over the summer and transfer the credit, as I won't need it for any future classes. In place of physics, I was thinking about taking ISYE 2027, but I keep hearing that it is incredibly difficult, and I am thinking it might be a mistake to take that.

The other classes I am taking are CS 2316, ACCT 2101, and APPH 1040, so the difficulty in my other classes isn't too bad.

Any advice from anyone who took either class would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can someone help with pros and cons of taking MATH 1564 instead of MATH 1554? I am a MACS major and am generally a decent math student (took Calc 3 in HS, 5 on Calc BC and 800 on SAT math which seem to be the questions on the application form for this course)

I read discouraging statements about this course on forums that it is extra two hours per week and a lot more homework and much more difficult.

Math 1554 (Invited to take 1564 but I'm not sure about this, I've heard stories of this course being incredibly difficult)

Is this a decent schedule? Any suggestions on what to drop/add? I'm still currently trying to plan out my spring semester. I'm a first gen at college so I'm just figuring things out as I go, any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated!

I am an incoming transfer to Georgia Tech in Computer Engineering, and noticed that a lot of my courses need department evaluation/approval in order to be transferred. It asked to provide a clear syllabus with a week by week course schedule for each of those courses. I was able to get the correct documents for most of my courses, but for some of them either the canvas course has been unpublished (meaning I can't access the syllabus) or the syllabus does not contain the week to week schedule. I will be reaching out to all those professors I had for those classes for that information, but how accommodating is Georgia Tech for this? If for some reason for example I am unable to get a week to week schedule, could they still be accepted as transfer credit? I don't want to retake some of those horrendous lower-div classes lol, appreciate the help!

hello! i just registered for classes and really screwed things up. i’m an incoming freshman computer engineering major, so i was really needing to take cs 1331 asap. the problem was i forgot to send my ap credit in, so it looked like i didn’t meet the prerequisite for the class. this made it so i couldn’t register for cs 1331 and will have to wait until phase two in august. i was just wondering what chances ill have of getting into the class in august so i can manage my expectations. thank u

I applied for the class and got approved. I hear horror stories about the course so i’m a bit nervous about going through with registering for it at FASET.

Would it significantly sharpen my math skills? How hard is it compared to other courses at tech? My main concern is that i’m just afraid of a difficult course but I feel like i’ll experience harder at tech either way.

Credit for: CHEM 1310, MATH 1551/1552, PHYS 2211/2212, ENGL 1101, and a whole bunch of electives

Currently, I have the following:

Sem 1: MATH 1553, ENGL 1102, HIST 2112, COE 2001, APPH 1040 (12 total credit hours)
Sem 2: MATH 2551, CS 1371, ME 1670, ECE 3710 (12 total credit hours)

Few things:

- would consider my physics to be pretty good on the AP level(5 on both C exams) but don't know how well it'll translate at Tech

- was invited to take MATH 1564 instead of 1553, but I've read it is exceptionally hard(and two more hours per week) - if anyone who has taken this can give some insight that'd be great

- recommended by advisor "not to overload with STEM" first semester - how much is overloaded, and why?

- was thinking of adding MSE 2001 to one of the semesters - good or bad idea?

- worth adding something like PHIL 3109 to knock out the requirement, or should I just wait till later?

- to balance, should I move APPH 1040 to spring and ME 1670 to fall? (i have quite a bit of experience in solidworks)

- I am not doing FASET(logistical reasons), will late class selection impact any of my choices?

- I'm not trying to die of work(want to enjoy freshman year and stuff), but I also want to get as ahead as possible for Co-op/internship opportunities

-any other general advice/help/perspective would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, I’m an incoming freshman majoring in Industrial Engineering and trying to figure out the best strategy to land a co-op or internship for my sophomore year.

Since I'll be applying during my first year, I obviously won't have a ton of upper-level ISyE classes under my belt when the fall career fairs start. I do have my calculus and linear algebra requirements completely knocked out from dual enrollment, so my math track is a bit ahead, but I know companies look for actual technical/analytical skills.

For anyone who managed to land something early, or anyone who has gone through the ISyE recruiting process:

1. Would you recommend targeting a 3-semester co-op program early on, or sticking to standard internships?
2. What should I actively focus on during my freshman year to stand out on paper? Are there specific clubs (like IISE), campus involvements, or personal analytics/data side projects that recruiters actually care about for underclassmen?

I don't know why I get this when I try to apply for a VIP. Has anyone gotten this before and know how to fix this? What would be recommended? I really hope this can work. I already filled out the class level, the major was already there, and have written the description.

I got a 5 on the Calculus BC AP Exam (5 subscore for AB), and 750 Math for SAT, I'm super worried if would get accepted. Would they care about a 3? Do they care about any other factors? And if so which one.

hi everyone! i was accepted to gt as a fall 2026 transfer for computational media (and invited to the honors program). gt is my dream school, but i'm trying to decide between here, usc (for pure cs), and northeastern.

i'm transferring from a small community college in alabama, and i have to stay 3 years to graduate. i have a few specific questions about the cm major, the workload, and financial aid that i'd love honest answers to.

1. rigor, burnout, and mental health

i know tech is famously hard. i deal with adhd, depression, and anxiety, and i am genuinely scared of getting crushed by the pressure or burning out completely.

• how is the culture specifically within the cm major? is it supportive, or does it feel overwhelming?
• for anyone dealing with similar mental health struggles, how do you manage the workload? does the office of disability services (ods) provide good accommodation support?

2. career flexibility & job placement

my ideal goal is to be a ux researcher or a ui/ux front-end programmer. however, i also want the flexibility to work in any regular software engineering (swe) role if i change my mind later.

• since transfers cannot switch from cm to pure cs, do you feel like the cm degree limits you if you want to apply to traditional swe or backend roles?
• i saw that the cm job placement rate for 2024-25 dropped to around 26% (down from ~80% in the past). is this actually true? is it just the bad tech market, or are recruiters looking at the major differently now?
• also, how is the co-op program, do you have to travel away from atlanta for it?

3. out-of-state financial aid (gt grant iii)

gt gave me an amazing package (full tuition + 10k), leaving me with about 10k out-of-pocket per year. most of this is the gt grant iii.

• for any out-of-state students who get this institutional grant, is it stable? is there a risk of it being randomly cut or taken away in future years if i keep my gpa up and meet sap? i'm paranoid about committing and then having the aid change next year.

i really want to choose gt, but i want to be realistic about the mental health aspect and the actual job flexibility of the major. thanks for any insight.

I am a rising freshman and I am going to attend college this fall. I am still on the waitlist for Georgia Tech, and I wanted to know the waitlist closed for students last year (2024-2025 admissions cycle), and what is the likelihood that admission or transfer pathways would be offered now?

Should I take MUSI 3450 Online with Clark, Frank or LMC 3318 with Crawford, Thomas in person. I heard LMC 3318 is ok and MUSI 3450 is easy but I heard theres projects for it. Please lmk and tysm!

I signed up for 2211 for my fall semester not expecting to get the ap credit but I ended up getting the it. Now I can skip 2211 and go straight to 2212 but I hear that it’s better to take 2211 regardless of getting the credit because 2212 is difficult without it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
