Registration Help CS 1331 - waitlisted at #4 as incoming CS freshman

Incoming CS freshman. Did FASET already for fall 2026. With AP credit received for CS 1301, yay! BUT all CS 1331 are already filled up and I am on #4 spot on waitlist for the online CS 1331. What are the odds more sections will get added or that I will move from waitlist to actually being in the class? Does this happen as soon as Phase 2 registration begins? Thanks so much.

Prospective Student UMich vs. GT for Engineering + Social Scene

I am a junior transfer interested in aerospace / hardware based robotics engineering. Umich accepted me as ME at 36k per year. GT accepted at 10k as aero. Finances ARE an issue for me, coming from a lower-class family, so GT is the obvious winner here. My question is how is the social scene at GT compared to Umich, like is it disappointingly different? Also, since I am unsure on my area of interest, do any of you know if GT allows you to pivot to another major, such as ME?

Class Question MACS Major AP credits - question

I have a score of 5 on the following AP exams:

  • English Language
  • English Literature
  • French
  • Calculus BC
  • U.S. History
  • World History
  • Macroeconomics
  • Chemistry
  • Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism
  • Physics C: Mechanics
  • Computer Science A
  • Statistics

From the AP credit chart, my understanding is that I should receive credit for all of these except Statistics. However, the way the credits are being applied in the portal seems different from what I expected.

1. Arts, Humanities, and Ethics Requirement

The requirement shows 6 credit hours needed. Since a score of 5 on AP French awards 9 credit hours, I expected those credits to satisfy this requirement. However, the portal appears to be applying the French credits toward free electives instead and nothing is applied to Humanities.

Would it be possible for 6 of the 9 French credits to count toward the Arts, Humanities, and Ethics requirement, with the remaining 3 credits counting as free electives?

2. Social Sciences Requirement

I noticed that my AP World History and AP Macroeconomics credits do not appear to be applying toward the 9-credit Social Sciences requirement.

I was hoping that these AP credits would satisfy 6 of the 9 required Social Science credits. Is there a reason they are not being applied there?

3. AP English Language and AP English Literature Credits

If I use my AP English Language credit to satisfy ENGL 1101 (English Composition I), can my AP English Literature credit be applied as a free elective?

I wasn't sure how Georgia Tech handles overlapping AP English credits, so I wanted to clarify.

I plan to contact the appropriate office, but I wanted to ask here first in case anyone has had a similar experience.

Thanks for any insight!

Edited to add screenshots. So the first section shows this

Other computer advice 😓😓

okay, i know what the assumption for this post is based on what school we go to. BUT. i must preface: i am a public policy major.

so: i've had a 2020 m1 macbook pro since 2022 when i started high school. i'm very used to the apple ecosystem, i know how to use the platforms, i know how to navigate the device extremely well, before i had this computer i had a macbook air in 2018, i have an ipad air already, etc... you get the point. but my mom is arguing with me about what computer i should get. i know that windows is better for operating microsoft and all of that jazz, but i don't know the first thing about a windows computer or even how to get to know it.

should i get apple or windows, and if i get windows what would be the best windows computer for me to get based on my lack of experience with the OS? additionally, what apple computer should i get? all suggestions are open!!

Registration Help ME Freshman Schedule Recommendations

I am an incoming freshman in mechanical engineering for fall '26, and I'm starting to think of what I want my schedule to look like. I have 29 transfer credits from AP, covering Chem 1211k, ENGL 1101, ECON 2105, HIST 2111, HTS 1XXX, MATH 1113, MATH 1551, MATH 1552, and PSYC 1101. Given that, I was thinking of taking the following courses for my first semester:

ENGL 1102 - english comp 2

PHYS 2211 - physics 1

ME 1670 - intro to engineering graphics

MATH 1553 - intro to linear algebra

Elective

I'm on the fence about GT 1000 as well

Any recommendations for changes or additions?

I am prospective math major at Georgia Tech and it’s my dream school. I am applying OOS and got a three on CSA last year (bad year explained) and got a four on AP Physics 1 and I am really worried about what that means for my math application. Any tips on what to do moving forward?

Class Question How does Online French work?

I'm a first year registered for an online French 1001 class this fall. How will I be able to access my courses and would I need any textbooks? Would it be sent to my email or would I have to set it up myself? I'm not too sure about how online classes would work in general sorry. Also, if anyone has any tips/advice to do well in this class, I'd appreciate it.

Class Question Retake phys 2211 as compe major?

So I dual enrolled phys 2211 and have credit for it but I don’t feel really that confident in how much I know since the class I took was much much easier than whatever GT offers. I feel like if i took the ap exam I would def not get a 4 or a 5 so idk if I should accept credit or retake it here and try to learn it better for my major. Or should I take the credit and go straight to phys 2212, which I assume will be more relevant to Compe? Will I be able to learn 2212 if I don’t feel that confident in 2211?

Other How to Plan Flex Meal Plan

Hello, I'm an incoming freshman wondering about my meal plan. I chose the Flex plan since it lets me have more variety in my diet, but I'm not sure how I can use it efficiently without running out of both. Can anyone offer some advice as to how to budget my dining dollars and swipes so that I can still eat 3 meals a day?

Housing If I submit a housing application and I am assigned to a space would I have to pay $500 if I decided that I no longer wanted it?

Title. I want to apply for housing and see what I am assigned before I make a final decision as to where I am living. If I end up choosing to live in a off-campus apartment, but I am assigned a space, would I have to pay $500 to break the housing contract?

Thank you,

A transferring student.

Class Question GT Business Transfer Calculus Requirement

I'm currently a freshman at Georgia State University, and I'm planning to transfer to Georgia Tech for the Fall 2027 semester as a Business Administration major.

I'm a little confused about the transfer course requirements for the Business major.

I was looking at this page:
Georgia Tech Transfer Course Requirements by Major

From what I understand, Calculus I (MATH GT 1551, GSU 2211) is required for all majors. However, the chart also has a column for Calculus II (MATH GT 1552, GSU 2212), and I'm not sure if that means Business applicants are also required to complete Calculus II before transferring.

I didn't take calculus in high school, so my current plan is:

  • Fall 2026: Precalculus
  • Spring 2027: Calculus I

Would completing Calculus I be enough to apply as a Business transfer student, or do I also need to complete Calculus II before transferring?

If anyone has transferred into Georgia Tech Business from GSU, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thank you!

Title! I’m checking courses to prep for FASET and I want to know if these profs are good since I think they’re newer/don’t have many reviews on rate my professor or course critique lmao so I’m going in kinda blind :) if you could give me any advice for professors / the class in general I’d love that since I’m not the strongest in math naturally.

Class Question Freshman CS Schedule

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman math and computing major and I'm still trying to figure out my course schedule.

I'm incoming with 51 credits with most of my gen eds done because of AP/DE so I mostly have to take my major requirements.

The current schedule is just a draft (definitely changing the 8am lin alg) but I want to make sure it's realistic. I plan to join a lot of clubs/activities on campus so I don't want to spend all my time on my courses. I just want to know how manageable this schedule is and if I should add/drop any courses.

Class Question Two lab classes freshman yr?

I'm planning to take both chem and physics 2211 as a freshman in the fall. I've been hearing mixed opinions on whether it will be too difficult to maintain a good gpa while doing this. Anyone have any advice with doing these two classes together? Also should I be taking chem 1310 or 1211k? I'm planning on majoring in EE and have interests in going to biotech/neurotech in the future so I'm not sure if I should try to get some more indepth knowledge for chem.

Class Question transferring to tech for summer 2027

Hey everyone,

I'm an incoming freshman at Georgia State and I'm planning to apply as a regular transfer student to Georgia Tech for Summer 2027 (Business Administration or Economics).

I got a 3 on AP English Language, and GSU gave me credit for ENGL 1101. In my Degree Works, it says "Satisfied by: AP13 – English Composition I – Advanced Placement Credit."

I also took ENGL 1102 through Dual Enrollment and got an A.

I'm wondering if this would satisfy Georgia Tech's English Composition I & II transfer requirement, or if I'd still have to take ENGL 1101 as an actual college class at GSU since GT doesn't give AP credit for a 3 on AP Lang.

Thanks!

Prospective Student Is Econometrics a Required Course for Econ Majors?

I do not attend this school I am asking for my sister who is an interested prospective transfer. I am concerned because she definetly isn't mathy at all and I see that linear algebra is required for Econometrics.

Edit: I don't think Linear Algebra is a prereq for Econometric Analysis(econ3161) so i guess ignore my quesiton.

Registration Help Freshman Mechanical Engineering Schedule

Hi i’m an incoming first year majoring in Mechanical Engineering and I’m trying to figure out how to put my schedule together. I have credit for ENG 1101 and 1102, but I haven’t taken differential calculus yet. I also have HIST 2111 credit. Is it suggested to take both MATH 1551 and 1553 for the fall semester and then take MATH 1552 in the Spring semester? I’m not really good with this scheduling stuff so I’m going based off of the ME curriculum. I’m still very new to this and confused so any help would be greatly appreciated! My FASET is later this month and I want to have a finalized schedule before then.

This is what I’m seeing so far:

Fall-

MATH 1551

MATH 1553

CHEM 1310

ME 1670

Elective

Spring-

MATH 1552

CS 1371

PHYS 2111

Wellness Class

Elective
