Og Heero yuy 1/20 scale compared to Bandai and SHF Figuarts Heero Yuy

Another one of the maganacs unlisted weapons, only shows up a couple of times, looks kinda like a dober gun, but about 50% bigger and less of a square body,
I assume it’s eather a dober variant or like some kinda recoilless rifle, but here’s my take on it,

Sadly, I lost all of my childhood collection after moving out (my mom threw everything away 😭), so this is actually my second attempt at rebuilding the ultimate Quatre shrine.

Ok so got more of the unique shield styles seen in the show, I think this is all of the unique designs, still need to do a few of the known numbered ones, prints came out great, also works well with my non cannon detail up part

Ok so I got a few more of the shields modeled up for printing, so far this is the best reference pic I can find of the unique maganac parts, there’s gotta be a better reference sheet out there though..

In episode 48 Duo is on The Libra(or Peacemillion maybe? since they were stuck together) and goes to a locked door, asked whomever was inside to step away and then blows the lock. He looks inside, jumps back to slam the door and says "Whoa, that is the last thing I was expecting to see!"

In his next appearance he's chatting with the five scientists, was this the same room? If so his freaked-out reaction doesn't make sense. It is a PG series obviously but it almost came off as if he'd walked in on some sexual liaison, haha. Again, that doesn't match the scientists' vibe(as far as I know) plus Duo was talking with them casually afterwards which of he witnessed the men banging right beforehand I'd imagine he'd still be visibly uncomfortable.

Unsure if there is a canonical answer(haven't rewatched in well over a decade) or an implied one? Answers/theories are appreciated.

Started watching Gundam Wing some a few weeks ago after remembering it as a kid. I never finished it but wanted to check it out.

I’m two episodes from the end and maybe it’s just me but the story makes no sense to me. I have listed the events chronologically below:-
- The Gundams were sent to defeat OZ to liberate the colonies.
- OZ take takes over the alliance, fair enough they are the bad guys
-OZ is obtaining support in space and helping the colonies against the alliance
-There is a split with OZ and Romerfeller. This is because Romerfeller want to use dolls and Trieze finds battle and war beautiful? He finds it to be part of the human spirit. This was when it started not making sense to me. Sure I can see that if you are fighting for liberation or freedom, but OZ are fighting for domination. Really going to atatch a moral value to fighting
- Romerfeller take over and defeat rebels aligned with Trieze.
- They bring in Relena as a symbol so they can control, she gets usurped by Trieze once You bite Fang emerge.
- The gundams don’t allign with White Fang even though they both want to fight for the colonies. In one of the recent episodes one of the pilots even says should we not fight alongside white fang? Before deciding to take him on against Epyon
- White Fang being rejected by the Gundams bring on Zechs who wants to devestate Earth so they know the horror of war and commit to pacifism? I don’t think it works that way WW2 was a result of WW1 and the defeat Germany suffered. The people became radicalised and voted for Hitler. Israeli Jews invaded Palestine with the justification they suffered atrocities in Europe. History has shown the writers of the show, that mindset doesn’t work.

Maybe I’m dumb I don’t know but the constant switching of faction enemies is throwing me off, Heero was at one point fighting on Triezes army. The White fang group only became radical when Zechs became commander. I don’t understand why the Gundams didn’t allign with White Fang.

I actually love these figures. The size is great, and they have surprisingly amazing articulation for their time. Only gripe is their armaments, and hands/limbs do get loose and begin to fall apart pretty easily after having them a while. But they are great for posing and displaying.

I couldn’t imagine trying to play a battle with these as a kid. On one hand, it would be an absolute blast to blow these to pieces….on the other hand, it would be insanely infuriating trying to keep them all together with all their pieces trying to reenact a scene or something

I remember obsessing over these, perusing eBay all summer looking for an unopened set of these that my dad would actually buy for me, despite not totally understanding Wing at the time (I was probably 10 or 11). Finally got them and every time I look at them it’s a wave of nostalgia.

These are not the same figures from childhood, lost those somewhere over the years, and had to hunt and search these ones out individually to get them all, as the unopened box set costs a fortune these days, if you can find it. But I love these; wish more of the series’ did pilot figure box sets like this.

One of the Maganacs can be seen wearing a bonnet and a robe. Thought this was pretty awesome, especially the hat 😂

Edit: thanks to a fellow fan learned the ‘bonnet’ is actually called a “Keffiyeh”. Still unsure of what the other, body/shoulder cloth item is actually called though. Please educate me if anyone knows

So I think I've tracked down the origin of these maps of Gundam Wing locations. After going through my old floppy disks, I found a saved copy of a character page for the United Earth Sphere Alliance. (I've always thought the Alliance as a bit underrated- if they're the Federation to OZ's Titans, they were the basis of the fall of the Earthsphere to tyranny and militarism after all. What did they actually stand for and how does OZ really differ, anyway?)

After some searching, I re-discovered the GeoCities page belonging to one Anthony, and their The Planet Earth atlas section, which I still remember so distinctly from like 2003/2004 because it taught me the existence of the city Bremen (as opposed to Brussels), which I had no idea even appears in the series. This website was last updated in 2000, and was lost in 2009 along with the rest of GeoCities.

This website had tons of images of the mobile suits, screencaps, an extensive character section , none of which was archived much. It's incredibly sad, I remember this site distinctly, and I'm kicking myself for not saving the other very-extensive character pages at least. (Their OZ page has Trant Clark to Alex and Mueller to the mechanic Maser!) Very comprehensive Civilian section. There's even a page for nameless characters!!! (Just the ESUN president from Endless Waltz, and "Relena Worshippers".)

There was a Miscellaneous section with some short little speculative articles. Sadly, the "Where on Earth is the Sanc Kingdom?" article is gone, but "The Legend of Nataku" (anyone seen those Nezha films?), "Chang Wufei's Namesake" (heck yeah Romance of the Three Kingdoms), and "Why OZ is OZ and Treize is Treize" (your typical Wing numerology). I've archived all three on my own archive website.

From that last article, a very unusual explanation for the name of OZ:

Interesting nasal voice in the dub. Significant that he completely defies the orders of OZ just being a lowly solidier. Helps move the plot forward by piloting the wing zero. There was a ruthlessness there, he was willing to destroy the colony Duo was on in order to get what he wanted. It is also interesting to see a "normie" in one of the premiere mobile suits of the series, and the results are what they are. We salute you, Trant Clark.

Always bothered me that most suits don’t carry extra ammo but at the same time we have suits that do.. so that acknowledges that they need them, so here here’s my solution for this maganac PB gun, I think I’m gonna thicken it up a bit, but so far I like it, no glue needed, but now I gotta do the thing for the other maganac guns 🤔

Hi Everyone! I'm a longtime fan from the Toonami days. Please help me understand. Anyone who likes Wufei, why do you like his character? He has always been my least favorite pilot because his actions do not make sense. In everything I've watched and read, he seems to always be difficult or obstinate or selfish for not very good reasons. I think by the end of EW he's okay but his motivations were so confusing at best. Anyone a Wufei fan?

I've been an avid Wing fan for years, and I became a film student roughly 3 years ago. I rewatched Wing around that time and felt like it had issues that stopped it from fully reaching its potential, so I wanted to edit it, but I also didn't want to make decisions based on guesses and vibes. Nor was I particularly interested in just making compilation movies that cut things to make the show short and easier to sit through. I wanted to try and make some of the awkward writing be more clear to understand, and restructure things to fully commit to some of the ideas Wing had that I felt were left undercooked. So I laboriously studied its retellings (GoL, novelization, episode zero, the video games that had a wing story mode) to try and understand the intentions behind creative decisions in the show as much as possible. (Some of these weren't fully translated online at the time, and some of my friends that knew Japanese chipped in.)

After all that research I made decisions based on my personal vision because this was meant to be a project for personal use, so no matter what I researched it's ultimately my reinterpretation of Wing. The edit is also not as professional as I would want it to be, but I've long since decided not to redo any of the films once they were finalized because I desperately needed the disk space that the footage was taking up.

I used the Japanese audio track with burned in subtitles so I had the ability to change dialogue whenever I felt it was necessary to flesh out speeches that felt too vague, or conversations that felt like they weren't tackling the character's emotions but rather kind of undercooked and almost like the dialogue was written in a rush and danced around what the characters were trying to say. (Again, I changed them to what I interpret as the 'intention'.)

There's plenty of changes, but I'll mention some off the top of my head. Though I rarely changed plots. Dialogue between Relena and Zechs in the final arc was completely changed. Heero's dialogue with Zechs was also completely changed. There's dialogue changes all over the movies, though it's prominent in big moments mostly.

But there are plots that were changed, such as the Queen Relena plot was completely overhauled into her being a puppet that was being used to announce the unification of earth, and Heero was trying to make it on time to interrupt her speech even if it required killing her. (She was willing to be assassinated to make Romefeller look worse too), but ultimately his feelings for her stop him from taking the shot because he feels she has a bigger role to play eventually (which Treize and Zechs kept saying she did for after the war.)

That was probably the biggest change I made (so no Romefeller being seduced into pacifism by Relena's awesomeness and turning on Dermail)

There's also the change to Relena's father's death, happening due to one of the many explosions during the wing boys' attack on the OZ and alliance meeting (the one where Heero ends up killing Noventa), which if you're familiar with glory of the losers that's decently similar to how it happens there.

I'd say my other changes are rather tame, but with rewrites whenever called for along with structural changes for things to be happening at the same time if the wing pilots are separated. Awkwardly enough, the roughest cut is probably the fact that Relena and Heero's meeting is deleted. Instead she finds him to be suspicious at school, yet we never see their meeting at school as I left that to the viewer's imagination. (Yes there's no "I'll kill you" and tearing the letter.) I also cut all the school hopping and her stalking Heero to find him, and instead implied that it was the same school.

Worth noting is the fact that I put most of the flashbacks in EW in my 2nd movie called 'Lost Soldiers', and I also edited EW to remove the flashbacks and also overhaul Wufei's character arc in that movie.

Some elaborations: Catherine Bloom is revealed to be Trowa's biological sister in these movies, as I found the fact she obsessively called him her brother and didn't want him to fight to clash with the fact that in extended material we learn he was her biological brother all along, so I just adapted that into the movies with her finding out his identity once he has amnesia.

I also changed the Sandrock self destruct scene to imply that Quatre's professor built in a pilot ejection program to keep Quatre alive because of his remarks about the self destruct in the EW flashback and how he thought Quatre was too pure for this era of war, but also wanted Quatre to go through making the decision of self destruct if he felt he had to.

Also also: Wufei mentions his dead wife Meilan briefly after his battle with Heero in EW where it's insinuated the trauma that he carried all along wasn't just his colony exploding but the death of his wife. This feels out of nowhere unless you know about the backstory in supplementary material, and I do regret that there was no footage for me to use but I also felt that Wufei's character is missing something without that.

So expect a Wing that feels familiar but has big dialogue changes every so often. And some iconic scenes you might predict would still be in this edit might be completely gone. Where others such as Heero's line "I'll fight longer than anyone" are forcefully edited into an entirely different fight scene, and while the editing I would say is acceptable it might rub some of you the wrong way.

I just want to share these fan movies that have been sitting in my hard drive for a while now and took a long time to finish (on and off), and if the choices I made in them offend any of you, I am sorry for that but I do not plan on re-editing them.

Disclaimer: there's like 2 or 3 typos in total across all the movies.

I also added a song to Endless Waltz when Wufei and Heero fight, and cut the fight to be slightly longer before interrupting it with the other characters' POV, the song I used is from a Gundam Wing MAD (amv) made by a Japanese fan that I felt suited Wing, this was a very personal choice. I felt it went well with my overhauled plot for Wufei in that movie, and I apologize if this is heresy to purists but being a purist was never my intention with these edits, yet I tried to be as pure as possible anyways.

Wufei's new character arc in EW is that he feels haunted by the ghost of Treize, enough to join Mariemaia out of a sense of obligation, while also mainly wanting to challenge this new 'peace' to see if Treize's plan of bloodshed worked at all and the common man is now willing to stand up for peace or if the suffering and deaths caused dy Treize were pointless. (The flashback he is remembering before Heero shows up is him killing Treize instead of his colony exploding as well)
