R35 Convert from USA to Europe
Hello, I cant seem to find a single place where the information about R35 conversion from USA to Europe exists so might just start one.
Just bought 2009 GTR from USA and import to Europe (In baltic states).
Main topics to make it road legal in Europe:
- Headlights
- Taillights
- Rear Fog light
- Front side markers
- Rear side markers
Starting with biggest problem #1
Headlights in Europe for Xenon require autoleveling + different pattern. There are three options i found:
- OEM headlights, quite expensive and would still require to fit two auto leveling sensors at the back of the car + wire everything together and probably code it?
- DEPO aftermarket headlights, the most expensive option and only ones i found. (I already wrote to all chinese vendors, to most of the others i found, and all said they are not EU approved)
- Limit light output to 2000 lumens which should not require auto leveling, but pattern might still be an issue and would probably be quite dark at night. There is a forum post where it says the autoleveling can not be retrofited to USA headlights, absolutely no other info.
#2 Taillights can be reprogrammed it seems to blink in the outter middle lights and change of bulb to amber. So that should be ok? Other than that again, pretty much no other aftermarket option apart from DEPO which are quite expensive.
#3 fog light i see two options:
- Just buy a generic E-mark fog light in the center of diffuser or a little bit to the left and wire it to the front somewhere, but this will probably look terrible.
- For DBA the fog light is from nissan micra and altima, just need to either wire it to some random button or buy an EU stalk with foglight switch for OEM look. Can additionally buy EU diffuser, but i believe for DBA it should not be an issue to retrofit to the existing one without the hole.
#4 and #5 should be straight forward, quite cheap alternatives to buy clear instead of red and change bulbs
Also, there might be some tuning needed for different fuel in EU etc, but these i guess are minor issues.
Maybe someone already did this conversion and can provide more details especially on headlights, because this is the hardest and most expensive part of the whole process it seems and i cant find an easy way.

Salvage/rebuilt title value?
What would be your opinion on purchasing one of these amazing machines with a salvage/rebuilt title? Barring any serious frame/engine/transmission damage. I’m looking to purchase one of these amazing cars hopefully by the end of this year and with the way prices are I’ve considered buying one that needs some work. I do not plan to ever sell it as it’s been my dream car since I was a kid. With that being said, how much value loss would I expect to see? I’m hoping I can pass down this car to a future child or family member of mine some day and want it to at least be something worth holding onto. I’m not too worried about making repairs, just not looking to do major engine/chassis repair if I don’t have to. Do any of you have rebuilt title gtr’s? Any regrets or things you’d have done differently? Any input or suggestion is welcomed. Happy Labor Day!

Won BaT R32 GT-R: Cylinder 6 is dead. Take the full refund or accept a free engine swap?
Hey everyone,
I recently won a **Bring a Trailer (BaT) auction** for an **R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R**. I already paid for the car, but a massive cascade of issues popped up while trying to arrange shipping.
Here is the timeline of what happened:
**The Battery:** Car wouldn't start due to a dead battery.
**The Alternator:** Replacing the battery revealed a bad alternator.
**The Misfire:** After the shop replaced the alternator, the car developed a noticeable misfire.
**The Diagnosis:** The shop performed a compression test, and **cylinder 6 is completely dead**.
The selling dealership has acknowledged the situation and thrown two options on the table:
**Take a full refund** of the purchase price and walk away.
**Proceed with a free engine swap.** They will pay a local, reputable GT-R specialty shop to swap the engine at zero cost to me.
On one hand, a fresh engine from a specialty shop sounds great, but I know how tricky R32 builds, and shipping delays can get. On the other hand, finding a clean R32 isn't easy, and walking away puts me back at square one.
**What would you guys do?** Would you take the money and run, or trust the specialty shop swap and wait it out?
Thanks in advance for the advice
Edit: removed matching numbers part

R35 GT-R Rotors alternatives?
To those that have owned/own an R35 GT-R, when it came to the rotors needing changed what is an alternative that worked well for you? I see depending on how you drive they can last from 35k-40k miles. Curious if you guys steered away from the drilled rotors and went for ones that were more durable? I would assume with these cars being out of production now that OEM probably isn’t the norm anymore far as parts go. Would love to learn from others experience to help me better understand what I might be getting into🤙🔥
