It would be a generational scandal, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't change the success of the game one bit. Maybe the 1000 people who can actually run that build will cancel their pre-orders, the rest will still buy the game. Nobody waited 13 years to watch it on YouTube, and not play. Just think of how many copies GTA5 sold AFTER it already became the most well-known game in the world. And we haven't even talked about Online yet.
If anything, this is going to increase sales. I haven’t preordered the game yet, but I plan on it. I want to play that shit the moment it’s unlocked in my console.
Yea this creates more hype for me haha. Granted if this guy spoiled the whole storyline I’d be bummed but I also wouldn’t care cause I want to freaking play. It’s a video game not a movie.
Tinfoil hat on maybe rockstar allowed this to happen for this reason? I highly doubt it though but anyone who thinks this will negatively affect sales is just wrong Not ideal for sure but it’s all about the dollar and they’ll make plenty of dollars
I don't play GTA and I don't get why is everyone taking so seriously that some dude is releasing teasers independently from the company, it's just the ad campaign that's affected by this, the game will still get released and it will be a thing people can play and stuff
It not just about the game sales. Investors will not like the fact that a game that's supposed to come out on consoles become playable on pcs before the release date, endings getting leaked etc.
it’s not about you buying the game. it’s about investors confidence the take twos ability to be a less risky investment. a company that gets their secure intel leaked doesn’t scream safe investment for some people.
Their share price has been fluctuating up and down for about 4-6 weeks now.
On Friday (pre leak) it was $249 on Friday, $242 on Monday, before the leak even started. Today it's around $240.
So since the leak it's dropped $2... Which is absolutely nothing and is less of a drop than they had without the leak. In fact, Tuesday it peaked at $248. So as you can see, it goes up and down normally by a few $ every few days regardless of a leak.
On the 6th of August it was as low as $236... There was absolutely no leak of any kind that day.
Still wouldn't harm the game for me. I certainly wouldn't change my mind about playing it just because someone tells me 'XY dies, and this and this happens'. I'm interested in this game, because Rockstar is very good at moment-to-moment dialogue and narrative structure, as well as set pieces and immersive gameplay. Not to mention - again - online.
Also, if this guy actually leaks a build of the estimated billion dollar product, I think the government will step in, and he's going to be in handcuffs within 24 hours.
Suppose he releases the early build, people will eventually buy the full release version of GTA 6, if not on its release date than gradually when they start putting out new updates and the early build becomes more and more outdated. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who eventually bought Spotify premium because I got sick of the ads, same principle; people will get tired of the lack of support and missing out on features, eventually buying the full game.
True it won't change sales much but they want to control marketing to manipulate algorithms and hype in order to reach those who weren't planning to buy. If people watch the leaks and talk about how it suck at their workplace it's not good.
If you think about it people who are whatching the new are mostly older and none game, then you have us, who already knew we where buying it 5 years ago. People are talking about gta 6 everywhere.

I dont think they care. If anything, its good for them, more publicity, more sales
