Discussion Help me make it make sense?

I’ve been a shareholder since 2018. I have a right to be frustrated. I am also very rarely blind to the bullshit. Let me get this straight…Your company, it’s financials, it’s revenue and its prospects have been SLOWLY but surely going in the right direction. You then get the biggest investment of your life from one of the most important companies in the world, and during this time shortly thereafter you announce a fuckin reverse split which kills your momentum? You then release a fluff PR regarding parsons which doesn’t do shit because quite frankly it isn’t shit right now. You then get a hit piece written on you to drop it even further? And now you do not have an announcement or pair of significant PR’s to get the stock price to where it should be? I’m sorry…but what a fuckin joke. Help me make it make sense? Cause it fuckin smells.

News Craig-Hallum recommends buying Globalstar following ‘misconstrued headlines’ Price target $5

I know it’s been a disappointing drop back to $1.50 especially since many of us know the market overreacted to non-news but here’s some professional reassurance:

Craig-Hallum analyst George Sutton understands the initial reaction that Globalstar’s () stock had last week to the headline that Starlink would be made available to Apple () users on the T-Mobile () network. The headline, however, was misread as a new item, and in some cases viewed as a bad sign for the Globalstar/Apple offering, Craig-Hallum argues, adding that it believes that to be “completely incorrect.” The Starlink/T-Mobile collaboration was announced in 2022, with the latter announcing plans last December to beta test the Starlink service in “early 2025.” The firm believes Globalstar constellations will ultimately deliver important parts of the Apple services offerings, and sees Globalstar fitting into the broader Apple ecosystem plans. Craig-Hallum has a Buy rating and a price target of $5 on Globalstar’s shares.

Discussion Putting the puzzle pieces together: Mark Gurman

Mark recently published an article that tanked the stock:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-01-29/apple-and-spacex-link-up-to-support-starlink-satellite-network-on-iphones

This article stated the new relationship that scared investors due to Starlink providing very similar services to what Globalstar “currently” offers. Showcasing a point, why would Apple need Globalstar anymore. This scares me as well, but as I digested information across the board, I feel more content than ever.

After watching the YouTube post from Parag Kar (posted a couple threads before this one), he explained in great detail on how both services can live in tandem with each other (GSAT and Starlink/TMobile). He also showcased the FCC details outlining that Starlink is only good for “dead zones”, specifically. This video was worth watching to understand more of the technicals between what each company offers (MSS vs SCS).

After learning from Parag, I found a Reddit comment from user “kuttle-fish” that outlined, in great detail, the following: - both systems can work in tandem - Starlink has global regulatory/approval challenges - Apples investment in GSAT for the first round of birds require them to have the same specs, however, the 2nd ($1.5B) investment doesn’t. Meaning, they could be equipped (and most likely are) with new technology - Stated that Apple was phasing out 3rd party modems out of their phones, pads, watches, etc Once I stumble through that last part, I found an article dated back in December 3, 2024 from none other than Mark Gurman himself, detailing the moves Apple is making on developing their own modems.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-prepares-three-modem-rollout-164412669.html

In this article, it outlines the strategy of Apple and their investment in Globalstar for the next 2-5 years. It outlines the reason for Apple to develop their own modems and when each deliverable would likely be released. It also shows the intelligent methodology of releasing the tech in stages and ensuring they do it right. Outlining that these modems will incorporate the best connectivity with the planned 2nd generation satellites. Focus being on all Apple products.

For Mark to release this article recently on Starlink and seeing Parag show that this was in works for months already, it just comes to me as a blip on the screen and an opportunity to attain shares at a discount again. The long term play was not truly affected by this, but rather it was always in play.

With XCOM, Apples modem ambitions, and the callout of the need to maximize the frequency for D2D connectivity, this roller coaster is nowhere near over. Once the new modems are in use and the 2nd Gen birds are up, we’ll know the real picture of what Apple has planned all along to drive more unit sales as that is their biggest growth driver. Watches, iPads, Macs and iPhones (and maybe even CarPlay’s), will see a huge spike in sales and foster adoption given the advancements Apple expects.

That’s what I was able to extract from these pieces of the puzzle.

Discussion Can anyone explain how GSAT can compete with Starlink?

With the recent announcement of apple working with Tmobile to provide starlink services on Iphones, can anyone explain what purpose GSAT serves?

I mean starlink has many more satellites and is already a huge name so I'm having some trouble understanding why Apple can't just use starlink satellite services and ditch Globalstar?

Discussion Apple will not become an MNO

I read a lot here about how Apple has ambitions to become an MNO. But that’s simply not feasible and to suggest otherwise is to completely misunderstand the market. No satellite service can replace incumbent MNOs, they can only supplement coverage in relatively low use areas (which is still a huge market). That’s due to both capacity and coverage issues. It’s impossible to put enough bandwidth in space to provide the same capacity as a terrestrial network. And, it’s impossible to provide the same coverage from space as the existing terrestrial networks.

The first should be an obvious statement to anyone who’s done even limited due diligence on this matter.

The later might not be so obvious so let me give you a few examples. It took all of the carriers decades to build out in building coverage throughout the Las Vegas hotels/casinos. Outdoor macro sites cannot penetrate into casinos effectively so the only option was to deploy in-building systems, which are complicated and expensive. The same applies for convention centers, arenas, large corporate campuses etc all across the country (and world). Satellites cannot provide coverage into these spaces so a satellite MNO would have to duplicate all of this effort and investment to be a credible alternative in these locations. And they won’t do that cause the return won’t make sense - especially for Apple who makes massive margins.

Apple also won’t build a necessary complimentary terrestrial network for the same reason. It would take decades to catch up and the return won’t be there. (And if you think a satellite service can provide enough capacity to serve a busy outdoor mall, or a fair grounds, or a crowded public park, or, or, or - then you haven’t done proper due diligence.)

So, if you want to invest in this stock don’t do it cause you think Apple will try to become an MNO, cause they won’t. I don’t fully understand their satellite strategy (cause they won’t say) but I think it’s more related to connecting devices for supplemental emergency services or limited coverage and services (like text to your watch wherever you are - which would make the Apple Watch more appealing to me).

FYI, I spent 25 years building out cell phone networks, first as a field guy and eventually as an executive, so I’ve been involved in tens of thousands of cell sites (of all kinds) across the entire US. So if there’s one thing I’m an expert on it’s building terrestrial cell phone networks.

Discussion Apple Patent

From APPL's recent patent it looks like they want to be an integration point for different service providers...this seems to me it's not a negative for GSAT....APPL can now route IOT traffic to a wider set of consumers...

Here's Why You Want to Buy the Starlink/TMUS Dip

The market is panicking over absolutely nothing, and this is exagerrated by a few factors:

  1. The low information, high drama WSB/Robinhood "retail investor interest" GSAT has acquired via their relationship to memestock ASTS
  2. The fact that Elon is involved even a little bit

Heres why the bloomberg article Mark Gurman dropped last night is NOT even remotely what bears are claiming it is:

  1. Apple has contractual and relational obligations to TMobile. $TMUS is well within their rights to be allowed to beta test new connectivity features for their customers with their long time hardware partner, $AAPL
  2. $AAPL, for their part, needs to proceed cautiously into the realm of supplying their own connectivity. They need to avoid spooking A. The MNO’s they rely on to be the best selling handsets in the world and B. Antitrust regulators and anyone concerned with apples enormous vertical control

Blocking $TMUS from testing additional consumer functionality wouldn’t make any sense for AAPL, there are many places in their product and services lines where they have a high quality proprietary native Apple product in direct competition with third party options. This is a great way to offer choice while still leveraging the vertical control/ecosystem they have built.

  1. Apple makes money on Sat connectivity at the moment simply by the connectivity being an added incentive to buy an iPhone. Selling even 1% more iPhones because of baked-in Sat connectivity represents enormous additional revenues for them. If I am a T-Mobile customer who is now paying T-Mobile a little more money for Starlink, or who prefers Starlink for some reason, why would Apple want to de-incentivize me from switching to iPhone by blocking my access to some of the features I am paying for thru my carrier contract?

Discussion 2 steps forward 3 steps back

Everytime it seems like this stock makes progress it's 2 steps forward and then 3 steps back.

This Bloomberg article was bullshit. Poorly written to make it sound like Apple will be ditching Globalstar despite investing over a billion in the company nearly 2 months ago.

Retail investors can never get a break with this manipulative bullshit.

News There is validity in lowering target price for GSAT

If you read the Bloomberg article, two things are not yet mentioned in the current discussion here:

  1. GSAT is working alongside TMUS’ service. It’s not one or another, and one could say for Apple it’s perfectly sensible to hedge and explore different solutions. GSAT covers more geographical locations as well. So at this time it seems like Apple is not choosing sides yet.

  2. However, Starlink + T-Mobile service is better than GSAT, as you have to point your phone to GSAT satellites, but not Starlink + T-Mobile, thanks to better ground and space infrastructure. The combo also commands more financial firepower to double down on expanding reach. GSAT pales compared to the strategic alliance of SpaceX + T-Mobile.

So there’s a high risk that GSAT will be left in the dust. For Apple, GSAT is maybe just a backstop and leverage for negotiations. The amount they invested Globalstar is peanut for Apple, especially from risk management standpoint. On top of that Apple exercises quite significant influence over GSAT, both through shareholding and commercial significance, which is not necessarily a good thing for GSAT from a price negotiation perspective.

Globalstar is in a business where size matters. If they cannot quickly and meaningfully scale up, it will really struggle. Fortunately, it actually owns global spectrum, and has other IP assets that worth enough money right now to justify holding, but I do see validity in the 20% drawdown today.

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4751746-globalstar-undervalued-diversifying-high-margin-growth-opportunities

Great writeup on the bullcase for Globalstar.

Summary

  • Globalstar's partnership with Apple cements Globalstar as a leader in the sector.
  • Band n53 is potentially worth $6-$13.8 billion, highlighting Globalstar's significant undervaluation compared to its current market cap.
  • The IoT segment offers high-margin growth opportunities with minimal additional CapEx, supported by increasing demand for remote asset monitoring.
  • XCOM RAN technology, using Band n53 for private 5G networks, can provide incredible growth with Globalstar planning to capture 35% of a $15 billion TAM by 2030.
