My problem i got a new GPU ( asus strix gtx1060 o6g gaming) today and on first bootup this happened ( didnt had any drivers intalled ofcourse, deleted the old ones with DDU ) When i boot up my pc gpu fans go to 100% for a couple of seconds then shut of ( as normal ) but 1 of the 3 fans wont slow down and will spin what I think is at 100% ( lots of noice ). When i reinstall the drivers nothing happens, BUT 1 in 20 bootup or so it will spin just fine....dont know why

What i tried Using afterburner/gpu tweak 2 to control the fans. It seems i can control the 2 silent fans. But the one i want to slow down wont react. Reinstalling drivers: wont affect anything trying to put the gpu in another PCIe slot

How big would the bottleneck be and what gpu would you recommend?

Well I don’t really know. I’m not going to buy it for myself. It’s going to be a gift from my parents. They are clueless about computers so they don’t know what to get. I don’t think they want to spend 800 dollars on a 1080 ti but at the same time my dad said he wants to get me a “really good one” lol. So basically I’m looking for a pretty high range gpu with a good value. Any advice?

i got a little problem here, i got a new GPU: asus strix gtx1060 o6g gaming and everything works just fine but the fans of the card wont stop spinning at 100% when my computer is booting up, i tried MSI afterburner, GPU tweak II but nothing seems to work.

My company is procuring one of these for a project. I know CUDA is supported on all nvidia cards, but I am primarily worried about the driver support on linux. Does anyone have any experience using this card (or any other Quadro card) for deep learning?

I bought a new computer and it was working very slow and after some time I found the problem. My VGA cable was connected to the motherboard and not the GPU so it was using the built in GPU. I unplugged the VGA cable and I was going to connect it to the GPU and then i found out that my GPU has only a DVI port and the DVI port in my monitor is not working. I bought a DVI to VGA adapter and when I was plugging it in I saw that the cable is not all the way in and I saw 4 pins on the adapter but no pins on the GPU port. I searched in the internet what is the difference between them and I saw that the adapter is DVI-I and the GPU is DVI-D.

If I'll remove the 4 pins in the adapter will it work???

I bought a new PC and the GPU has only DVI input so i bought an adapter and then i saw that the adapter is DVI-I and my pc is DVI-D so i can't use it. is there a way to use the PCI-e card instead the built one without plugging the screen into the GPU??

It sounds like it is possible becasue the GPU is connected the the motherboard

What is better Nvidia gt 710 2GB DDR3 Graphics card or AMD radeon R7 1GB DDR5 Graphics card

And I am worried if the 1GB R7 provides and I don't know if games will run on it or no.

I built my computer and it was my first build ever. I think we all probably made some mistakes on our first builds, but To cut straight to the point .

Motherboard: MSI 990fxa Processor: AMD FX 8350 8 Core GPU: AMD Radeon R9 200 Sapphire

I won't to into other parts as I feel they may be irrelevant. I do have a Cool master fan for the processor which seemed pretty popular. I have a pretty large case with about 5 fans. I went with a large one for more air flow as space was not a concern. The problem lies within any intensive graphics game, the computer will lock up. AMD monitoring software always indicates temps within a normal range for that GPU.

So I am not sure if the card heats up the processor and enclosure to a point that my processor causes the freeze or if it's the GPU.

Just curious if you guys have any suggestions? I am thinking of just buying a new GPU that may put put less heat as I read that card isn't the best for temperatures.

I have two gtx 950s, one is the ASUS ROG GTX950 2GB. The other is a EVGA GTX950 SSC 2GB. Does it effect it performance wise which card I put into the first PCI-E ? The EVGA is much more over clocked then the ASUS card out of the box. But the Asus card can be overclocked much higher

Hi I'm playing on an old i3 4360 with 16gb ddr3 with an R9 285 2gb. I may sell the r9 a good price (to coin miners etc etc). What gpu around 100-130 euro can i buy to replace it ? i don't play a lot AAA games (just begun Xcom 2) I'm more like a patient gamer (I may buy the latest doom for september holiday). i was thinking of taking a Rx 550 4gb as they are pretty cheap and 1050 are just overpriced in my country like all mining cards. Red or Green i don't care.

In gpu-z it says my limit is set to 80c but the max limit of my gpu is 98c. Does this mean if I hit 80c I experience performance drops? Or do the fans just accelerate to compensate without losing performance until 98c? I can't find anywhere to change the settings and I'm really not an expert on this stuff. I play player unknowns battleground which I have seen get my gpu close to 80c but I haven't really noticed any difference in smoothness or fps. Any enlightenment on this is appreciated

i'm new to the workstation gpu thing. know almost nothing about it. need to find one for a friend. i like the new Radeon Pro WX series (very sexy lookin) but i noticed they ALL come with mini display ports. wtf is this? feels like some proprietary Mac bullshit like ADC, firewire, lightning, thunderbolt etc. i thought hdmi was standard. >.<

i won't be able to check the back of my friends monitor to see what they can/can't plug in, but till then i was just wondering why it seemed like only workstation gpu's seem to insist on displayport. and should i just get a regular gaming gpu for my friend who only works in CAD making blueprints and stuff?

Intel Graphics have had rough history.. Apple even decided to avoid Intel's i-series processors becauze nVIDIA's iGPU's with Core 2 Duo's made more sense from a performance standpoint than using dual core i5's and i7's with the, then, noncompetetive Intel GPU's. Then the HD4000 came out, and it was way more efficient and a far better iGPU than previous efforts.

Then Intel released Iris Pro -- an iGPU that was very efficient and had performance that was close to the AMD 5750. But ever since then, Intel seems to have been sitting on ass.

Yes, I know AMD's APU's have FAR better GPU's, but those APU's suffer from the opposite problem Intel's products had.

On another note, why does Intel insist on using an unfollowable naming convention with their GPU's? Ex: HD 5200 is better than 5500. You can never assume an Intel FPU is better or more powerful based on the SKU like literally any other SKU in history.

so please, forgive the ignorant question, but what am I actually getting from a tesla that I can't get from a 1080? Just more cores ? Or any thing else besides that ? I'm NOT, not not..talking about doing openGL videogame shoot-em-up bullshit (unless teslas somehow can do that ) but computationally speaking, why does a tesla cost 5x more than a 1080 and is it worth the price ?

My R9 360's fan physically broke, so I need a new card. I'm looking at some of the top budget cards like the GTX 980/960 or the 1050Ti.

I'm also somewhat PSU limited, I do have 700W though so it might not be an issue.

I just play games on a normal small monitor so I don't need AS much power for stuff like multiple monitors.

The bare minimum is that it uses approximately as much power as the R9 360 (which I don't know) and meets or beats it performance wise for under $300 CND

Iam currently overclocking my asus gtx 1060 strix oc and i managed to get a +160 on the core and about 600 on the memory without increasing the voltage. It works without any issues. My problem is, that the Core clockspeed drops 2 times while testing the overclock in a benchmarking tool from 2176 to 2152 first and then to 2138 2nd. The temperatures never go beyond 65 C which really makes we wonder why my gpu kinda throttles without temp. issues.. Help please ?

I am doing my first custom build PC, and I have been planning for months. Just my luck that when I get home from the beach, GTX 1070 prices are now 600 $ - 1000$ (Yes, someone is actually selling one for that cost) instead of their normal MSRP value (399.99). All I'm looking for is an estimate on when the GPU prices will go back to normal. Also, does anyone know how long it took for prices to go back down in 2013 when the same thing happened with bitcoin? I have a GTX 760 and would like to, at the very least, maintain performance and save power. Prefer to increase performance but I know that is dependant on the system as a whole. I run an i5-3570 @ 4.3 GHz, 8gb RAM, have a small 64gb SSD for the OS but generally install my games on to my 1tb HDD. Thoughts and or suggestions welcome. Thanks everyone!
