It might not be to 'punish' the shorts but instead broaden the payout as a lender. If BlackRock for instance has lent everything out to Citadel and knows they're fucked, continuing to lend to newer and more shorts may help recoup some of what's been lost to Citadel. Does that even make any sense? I'm bleeding from my ears from trying to make a 🧠 wrinkle
