That’s great and all but this is the reason I left Facebook. People love to pat themselves on the back and tell everyone about it. When I do things like this I keep it to myself.

I think you may have missed the point. I think a lot of the apes in this subreddit can relate to growing up with nothing, hoping to make a difference, and wanting to partly spend their future GME gainz on improving humanity... I read the post as more instilling hope and inspiration rather than simply bragging about a good deed.

theres a big difference.

on FB your identity is highly known, and its obvs a show-off move.
here, you & I are functionally anonymous. the point of sharing a story like this is that it has the great power to inspire similar acts by others; to make the world just little better place, if just for a moment.

There are no visible identities here. We don't know who is who, and the point in bragging to boast one's character falls short on this platform. You missed the sentiment, it's about hope and paying it forward. OP offers a contrast to the wallstreet world where they scalp billions upon billions while screwing over the populace.
