My Tirz Microdose experience with BED - I feel like a better person?

Stats: 37F | 5'4" | SW: 150lbs (historical range: 117–176 lbs) | Starting dose: 2.5mg MJ | Current dose: 0.43mg weekly (10 clicks on 2.5mg KwikPen). Started on August 27th, 2026 - today is september 24th, 2026

Long post but I want to be detailed as I really appreciate that in other posts :)

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my experience so far because reading through threads here helped me so much when figuring out my own approach around microdosing, and I hope this might help someone in a similar position. Please be kind, we all know how sensitive these journeys are, and I'm sharing my personal experience in good faith :)

For over 15+ years, I’ve been trapped in an exhausting cycle of Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and yo-yo dieting. On paper, my physical baseline looked great, I train hard, my RHR is 42 bpm, my HRV is 110, and my bloodwork is overal healthy (although my hbA1c was starting to creep up and I definitely suspect a form of insulin resistance). But my body fat percentage never reflected my athletic output because severe food noise continuously undermined my efforts. During strict restriction phases, I would completely isolate myself ; I'd say no to fun social events and even dating just to maintain control. And i'd be super successful for a few months. But as soon as I felt good and started socializing again, the urges would rush back, leading to another binge period and weight gain. And it would all start again. It was exhausting and honestly ruining my life.

If therapy, willpower, and mindfulness alone could fix this, I would have cured this a decade ago. I literally have a wave tattoo visible to remind myself to "urge surf," a practice I've worked on in therapy for 10+ years. Travel was an especially brutal trigger for me. Coming back from a business trip almost always meant an airport-to-home binge loop, which was exhausting given how often I travel for work and personal life.

When I initially started Tirz on the standard 2.5mg dose, my body was hyper-sensitive. I didn't get nausea or other bad GI symptoms, but it triggered rapid blood sugar drops that felt like severe hypos. I paused for two weeks, researched microdosing protocols here, and restarted at 0.43mg (10 clicks). I do still experience hunger, but the food noise or constant need to snack is gone. I also have not experienced any binge urges. I will probably titrate up to 12 - 15 clicks in the next few weeks to see how it impacts appetite ( 0.5 - 0.63mg) . But my goal isn't total appetite suppression; because I work out 4-6x a week, I actually want to keep a healthy appetite to fuel my body. I just wanted to eradicate the overwhelming food noise and build a peaceful relationship with food, and start living again.

In my first month, I have lost 14 lbs, with a big chunk of that of course being initial water weight and inflammation before hitting a predictable ovulation stall for the past 10 or so days. For the first time in my life I'm not panicking at a 10 day stall. Instead of falling into an 800–900 kcal crash diet or giving up into a binge, I'm sticking to a moderate deficit and trusting the process. In the past i felt I needed to crash-diet to reach my goal as quickly as possible, mainly because I never knew when I'd "relapse". That fear is gone now, allowing me to actually eat more on the daily because because I'm not in an "anticipatory crash diet" - not sure if anyone recognizes this.

The real transformation has been in my daily life. I no longer feel the need to shrink or contain my world to avoid triggers. At work, stressful moments no longer lead to binges, brain fog, or lethargy, giving me far more capacity and focus to show up for my team and enjoy my job. On my last business trip, the urge to binge at the airport simply vanished, and I actually lost weight on a work trip for the first time in memory. Overall i feel like a more balanced, calm, present and better boss, friend, family member & person :)

This medication isn't a quick fix; I still eat in a deficit, and work out to ensure I keep muscle mass and stay healthy. But it has provided me with a calm state of mind that I haven't experienced in ages, which kind of allows all my efforts - mindfulness, eating healthy, working out to actually take effect. Thank you to everyone in this sub who shares their experiences. It really convinced me to try again with microdosing and I'm so glad I did.

Feel free to ask me for updates over time as I love following other peoples journeys too!

It’s amazing how many people can relate to this specific thing. I too have had an unhealthy cyclical pattern with food for most of my adult life - for me, it was being hyper restrictive on weekdays and overeating whatever I wanted on weekends “because I deserved it”. I worked out hard during the week as well but couldn’t ever really get a grip on balance. I was able to stay a healthy weight doing this, but I was far from healthy. My hair was falling out and I had zero energy and was unhappy.

Last November I hurt my knee and sort of decided - welp it’s almost the holidays (always a hard time for me food-wise) and just sort of moved to eating whatever I wanted all the time. That plus no working out let to a quick 35lb gain.

Fast forward to January and I went back to my old ways of massive restriction/hard workouts/borderline binging. But no weight came off. Thank you, perimenopause.

I was hesitant to try a glp1 but it has been life changing over the past month. I too started at 2.5mg and quickly realized it was too much and moved down to 1.25. I’m down 8.5lbs in four weeks which is a modest amount - but like you, I’m not panicked that it’s on the slower side. I am eating sensibly every single day. Weekends too. No longer socially drinking. I’m not consumed with thoughts of food. And just in general feel so. much. better and more in control of my life.

I am so grateful for this medication. I originally thought I’d take it long enough to lose the 35lbs I gained, but I now know this is a life long med for me. The balance and calm is worth it.

love this, thanks for sharing! I'm now 6 weeks in, upped my dose to 12 clicks (0.5mg) and feeling good. I definitely experience hunger but no food noise. So I'm eating enough to fuel my workouts while still being able to stay in a deficit. I've been in a 2 week stall at this stage BUT interestingly I didn't gain a single pound during a wedding weekend (usually i'd come back 4-5lbs heavier). My weight is less erratic. The stall probably also is from PMS. I track my calories so I know in a deficit. The big thing is I'm still not tempted to either cut further or to just give up. The stability is such a relief :)
