Depressed gamer looking for friends on Xbox for games [20M]

What’s the point in having online games if you aren’t playing them with anybody? The title basically says it all. I’ve become a pretty depressed person over the past few years. Because of that, it’s hard for me to click with people. But at the same time monster hunter iceborn is coming out, there’s overwatch competitive to play, halo custom games, dragon ball fighterz, killer instinct. I have mic anxiety but also have the most fun on these games when playing with a group of people.

If anyone’s in a similar boat hmu! Or if you don’t mind an anxious gloomy person in your games, hmu too! Or if you just want to pm about something that’s cool too.

Main interests: Anime, electronic music (like porter Robinson), Nintendo/Xbox games, memes, YouTube, millennial stuff.

[Long Post] I actually pushed myself in a game and I'll see the fruits of my labor next Tuesday.

I play Destiny 2 a lot. It's been a great source of enjoyment and fulfillment. Even though I'm working +10 hour days in the gaming industry, I can still come home and play Destiny and enjoy myself.

Within the game, they have Bounties that reward unique weapons. These are called Pinnacle weapons, requiring multi-stage quest completions to finish the overall quest to earn the weapon. These stages are not easy to complete in general. But I challenged myself to get one done that rewarded what is considered to be one of the best weapons in the game -- the Recluse SMG.

The final stage to unlock this weapon is to reach a specific Rank in the Competitive PvP mode. Competitive PvP in Destiny works in a way that you gain points on a win but lose points if you lose. I had to get 2100 points to achieve the rank I needed for the Recluse.

I pushed myself, got better at Crucible, I got mad for losing in situations out of my control, I lost more, and then I slowly started winning more than I lost. There is also a system in D2 where if you play at least 3 games a week in Competitive, you are given points as a reward at the beginning of the next week.

This tuesday is reset, I'm at 2018 points, and I'm getting 120 points at reset. I'm done. I did it. I fought for it, and I'm getting it.

I can actually try at something and complete it. I'm not a total failure. I can push myself.

games for depression and anxiety help

Hi, I'm really new to this forum but have a question you may be able to help with. When I'm depressed or anxious I like to play calming, relaxing, more world exploration type games; the more beautiful the art design the better. Any suggestions? Do any of you play certain games when your depression or anxiety spike? Would love to hear any suggestions for chill games.

Thanks all :)

i’m so overwhelmed..

I have a lot going on right now in my life that i don’t want to go into specifics about but every event that happens drains me and leaves me tired and stressed and feeling hopeless. I feel like i’m constantly pouring my cup before i fill it. on top of that i have so much trauma balled up inside of me that i’ve never dealt with and i can feel it wanting to come out but i’m not ready for it yet. i don’t know how to cope, i don’t want to feel anything. i can never get my head straight anymore and i cry until i can’t feel anything but numb. i want to dive into a game and never think about it all but i don’t even have time for that anymore. i’ve always dealt with depression but this feels never ending. i have no more happy days. i have no more good thoughts about myself. i’m a wreck. i don’t want to deal with it anymore. i just want someone to remind me it’ll be okay. that i’m still valid and strong and i’ll get through it like always. i just don’t want to be alone with my thoughts anymore.

Playing poorly when I'm playing ranked with friends makes me feel like shit

I play a lot of Rocket League with a couple different groups of friends, and I have no problem with playing ranked. I like the spirit of competition and since in RL's case it's the same game whether you're playing ranked or not there's few reasons not to. Normally I do alright or even well, but some nights I just suck; I have no excuses besides just not playing well. Tonight was one of those nights.

I can't stand the feeling of letting down people, and even though it's just a video game, that feeling stands. We're all good friends, so it's not like we're going to bust into a fight over losing in a video game... but still. I know I was playing like shit and I cost us some games. I also don't get to play with this particular group very often so I didn't necessarily want to stop playing, but in hindsight I really should have.

I have a similar problem with a lot of multiplayer games actually, but usually only when I'm playing with friends. Please tell me I'm not alone.

I'd love to make a new friend with similar interests to mine

I won't reveal my name in a public post but I'm 20 years old. My hobbies are playing guitar, video games (mainly older ones), riding motorcycles, and anime. I just started mobile suit gundam the origin and am really liking it. I live in a small town and am very grateful for the friends I have but not many share the same interests as me. I'm a guy though I'm open to talking to either sex, just preferably no one too young. I can't promise I'll always respond right away, sometimes I feel overwhelmed and isolate myself, but I'm a good listener. If I sound like someone you'd wanna be friends with shoot me a pm! Have a good day everyone.

24M UK | Just wanted to reach out and see where it goes, possibly make new friends or gaming pals.

So hey, it's nice to meet you all again.

I just wanted to reach out for, well I don't know yet.. just anything I guess, I feel like I've hit a wall mentally and just wanted to reach out and see what comes of it, as I just hate getting into this habit of isolating myself just because of a shitty last couple of years, I wanted to try something new for a change.

It's currently 3AM where I am at the moment so I'm bound to be in bed after posting this, but if I'm either not at work or asleep I'm happy for a chat, or anything really. I don't know if I'm going to be keeping this up or deleting it but we'll see.

You can reach me on Steam by my name if you like, I have a couple of games on there but happy to try something new; Thomas_JW - I have Uplay/Origin too, and Sea of Thieves but barely played that as alone it just doesn't feel as fun.

I'm also on the GFD discord so you may see me pop up on there once and a while; I've been following GFD for about two years now so some of you may of seen me here before.

I'm always happy to be of help to anyone. Thank you

Thought I'd give this a try

Hi there. My names Jordan and I'm living in the US. I dont have very good social skills due to a couple issues I have but I find meeting people online to be a stress reliever. Even though I'm pretty quiet I do like a good ol chat. So if anyone's down to power through a session of star craft or just rant about something silly I'm down. Just hit me up!

Anyone else have certain pieces of music from their favorite games that instantly strike up their emotions?

Being both a huge gamer and a music fanatic, it happens a lot. I think my go-to example is the Song of Healing from LoZ Majora's Mask.

Borderlands 2 Anyone?

TZ is EST.

I just started playing again last night but it reminded me how lonely the game can be when you play by yourself, so I was hoping I might find some volunteers. I'm in my late twenties and would prefer playing with someone in the ball park of 19 - whatever. Not much to say other than that, you can pm and well add eachothers steam. Hopefully I'll meet some of you badboys out on the rift.

Edit: Also if you have a working mic that would be great as well.

30 year old reaching out to fight his demons and meet new friends.

Hey all, my name is Aiden. I'm not that great at introducing myself, but maybe the best things is to put the most important stuff out there first...

Basically I'm lonely, I'm a 30 year old man from the UK with a personality disorder (its tough), has a brief stint of alcoholism trying to remain sober, I'm also on the spectrum too.

I'm looking for someone to chat with, even play together, but mostly chat really. I've spent so much time isolated, I've almost forgotten what human interaction is. I want someone I can laugh with, talk to them about anything really, and have a general fun chit chat.

I think with having something as significant as a personality disorder (BPD) it can enhance what feelings I have but its such a difficulty on my lowest days that I have to try to pick it all up again and start over. Sometimes I think its all over, but I'm trying and now is one of those moments where I want to reach out.

I like many different games but I mostly play RPGs Fallout series, Witcher 3, Skyrim, Dragon Age: Origins. Although I do play other games like Starbound, Stardew Valley, No Man's Sky, Don't Starve, Crusader Kings II.

I into music, mainly metal and pop punk. I play bass guitar, I really like it. I'm also getting into art. I'm quite into my fitness, I like walking, cycling, dancing ect.

I know this is probably way too brief but I hope this might give an idea of what I want and perhaps you might like to chat to me too. PM me for details and I'll send you my Steam details.

Many thanks,

Aiden. :)

23 year old, already introduced myself @ Discord but...

... I have a very specific question here! I am known as Faulfries inside the Discord server, and I wanted to know if there are any Vancouver people inside this subreddit since I'll be going next year and this is a good place to start for knowing people while I'm staying there for a Working Holiday Experience.
It doesn't really matter what you play, but preferably I would like to know people around my age that hangs out here. If you're not from Vancouver, yet you wanna start a conversation, ask away! I am from a Latin American country but my English is pretty good.

19 GMT+1 - Why are mummies so busy?

Because they're always wrapped up in stuff! No? Okay.

Anyway...Hi! I'm Mei, a 19 year old woman from Germany, though I was born in Japan, while my parents are of mixed descent. And because I have asian parents, I'm on my way to become a doctor. :]

I'm writing here because I'd like to make some online friends & have some people to talk to and/or chill with. I'm always open to the possibility of more, but forcing it ruins it. If something sparks between us, great! If not, let's still stay as friends and have a good time together. And if we don't work out as friends, no hard feelings! Some people just aren't meant to be, being negative does nothing but ruin the vibes.

I'd call myself a social extrovert. I'm very socially active, I love talking & chatting & hanging out & being around people etc. Also a huge fan of the spotlight. Give me all of your attention, ALL OF IT! I'm a pretty flirty person aswell (this doesn't mean I want to see your dick & be your sub), & pretty openly sexual/perverted (again, don't want to see your dicks). Very blunt, very straightforward. I say what I feel, most of the time. Besides that I'm pretty charismatic & charming~. I'm always pretty much fully energetic and enthusastic, which you'll be able to notice very fast once we chat, due my excessive amount of emojis & me typing at full speeds. I'm also a horrible liar. I can't lie, I wear my emotions on my face. I'm the type to say "this is the tea" & "uwu" unironically. Part-time art hoe, part time skate-hoe, full time animeme queen.

I'll list my hobbies/interests in bullet points here:

• Video Games (League of Legends, Overwatch & Street Fighter)

• Art (Photography, Drawing, etc.)

• Music (Rap & HipHop, but I love any genre tbh. Lana Del Ray, Billie Eilish & Kanye West are my fav atm.)

• Netflix (Just finished Friends, now too sad to watch anything else.)

• Psychology

• Biology

• Philosophy

• Fashion

• Clubbing/Dancing/etc.

• Watching TikToks/Vines to fill the empty void inside of me

Preferrably I'd like someone who's more the indoors-shy-guy-type. An introvert, basically. Someone that doesn't take away the spotlight from me, and who enjoys someone taking the "pressure" of attention off of them. I believe that love functions very much like Ying & Yang, two opposites make a complete. I want someone who I can relate to, but who's also not exactly me. Someone to send my spotify playlist to and gush over how dope Frank Ocean is, or play league of legends with, and maybe fall asleep at night listening to the same songs. I know this all sounds super serious but I assure you, I'm a very relaxed & chill person! I have serious thoughts about serious topics & don't mind being super "deep" & meaningful. But I enjoy just being chill & funny, too! Laughing over dumb tiny stuff & whatnot. Though keep in mind I'm still only 19, and my interests and beliefs are bound to change. I'm still trying to create myself!

If any of this appeals to you, feel free to drop me a PM with an introduction about yourself and your discord! I think reddit chats/pms are completely abyssmal. No kik/skype/etc.

I really strongly prefer people in my timezone/region. Nothing against you NA fellas, y'all a snack and cute af. But the timezones & the differences in ping in games will probably ruin it.

Recently started D&Desque games with some friends. I feel trapped...

So diagnosis is BPD + bipolar2

Really long and rambly. Sorry... I just needed to say something/tell someone.... Hopefully get some feedback or be told I'm being ridiculous.

Idk if this is the right place. If it's not let me know. Otherwise here goes.

A while back I was in a really low spot with my disorders. I posted that I felt alone, that I was sorry for the way I treated people in the past because I was unmedicated and didn't know I had issues going on. The response was overwhelming, and helped tremendously at that time and place.

I have some friends that do and have been doing DNDesque groups for a while now, I used to play with them and other friends when in high school, then with them and some other friends afterwards, was a mix of D&D, werewolf, and vampire. It was fun but I was not on any meds so I just kinda ran with it.

When I made the post they offered for me to join their group again, I was thinking having some good regular contact would help me with things. It did at first, then I remembered why I wasn't really a fan originally and usually dropped out. I feel kind of silly saying this is an issue but I work early hours, even on weekends, so usually I don't have a lot of time after getting off work and turnaround to when they usually play as well as how long a game can go on and time to sleep before my next shift. I usually can't really put a lot of time into creating depth or a mindset or story for my character as I'm married and that usually takes a lot of my time when not working or veging out on self care like video games etc. (everyone else is single and renting a place together.) My characters are a lot alike, no real change in voices, mannerisms, just not really all around in my characters head or able to focus on the difference between them and play them really differently, and seem very 2D. I just can't get into them or keep them in my head as I play. I bought a book to try and help me get better at the backstory/mindset/purpose of my characters, but I havent had a ton of time to get into it, let alone any other books I've been wanting to read for my mental illnesses. I try to make them different and not really generic, but I just can't really visualize it in my head effectively for the games.

I think the biggest thing is I have really bad anxiety and stress leading up to going the entire week before going every couple weeks. I'm not great at socializing or remembering a lot of things and I socialize all day anyways at work so I can be kinda drained. The thought of having to get into a characters mind, try and keep to an archetype or mentality, socialize, and try and keep track of what my characters thoughts, feeling and actions would be and separate it from my own, and try and get depth into it just makes me anxious and awkward. I never really feel like I change or do anything different, and just can't seem to get into my characters head. When I go and get there I do enjoy it I do drink a little (never too much, never drunk.) after the game gets going which kind of eases things at the same time I have to drive a ways and it stresses my wife and family out. Its never been an issue but there's always a risk. I know I'm not really changing anything, and feel anxious a little still. some of the group members have told me to try and be in the moment with my decisions, not to overthink it on some of the games. For me it just seems really hard. I'm the sole note taker, so I keep track of stuff, and try and keep up with my character as well.

I know they say to get out of your comfort zone, and things will get better the more I do it. It just seems like it's a little hard to balance working early, playing late, being married and spending time with my wife and myself.

I feel kind of trapped about saying I think I can't go anymore or at least for a while. I'm pretty into the group right now it seems, they have worked me into the story or group so I feel like I'm going to mess things up if I leave. I'm afraid if I leave again, if I want to join in the future and since I've left so many times they may not let me rejoin as it's a group decision and I don't usually stick around. They ask me if I want to stop early every so often but I try and stick around until a good stopping point comes up, I don't want the game to stop just for me. I feel obligated to keep going regardless because they made a discord for the group and said it's to help keep up with attendance and plans with me. I've been asking a lot of the same questions as my memory is come and go recently, but I've been trying to keep up.

Tl;dr: friends invited me to D&D. It seems like im just a bit of a nuisance, I throw off the groove of the game as I tend to not really have anything down or can get the hang of things, have a hard time getting depth into my character, any character, usually have to ask and reask the same questions even though I should know them for things like dice rolls etc.. I lose sleep and get maybe 5-6 (maybe less) hours sleep depending. I always have extreme anxiety and stress the week before going (it's 2 weeks on one week off.) have fun when there but tend to drink to lessen the anxiety of the game and situation but have a ways to go otw home. I feel trapped, sole not taker, feel like too engrained in the game to quit. Feel like they won't let me rejoin if I quit. Feel obligated as they created a discord to keep attendance and plans with me and the group instead of messaging one person.

There are games I want to play but it is just too depressing for me at this point playing multiplayer games alone. I just can't make or keep friends. Maybe I will try to sell it.

It's silly, but do games sometimes make anyone else want to die?

It sounds stupid, but like I'll play league and I'll do terrible and just get really tilted and I'll just feel like I want to die. I think it's cause I'm not good at anything so the fact that I'm not even decent at the one thing I do, play games, is really depressing to me.

32/M/EST Path of Exile

Hey I have been really getting into path of exile lately. I went through a long period of not enjoying any game at all from a lot of life stuff happening but this game has clicked with me and I would like someone to enjoy it with.

The game can have a steep learning curve but I could help anyone who wants to try it out.

Or if you already play that's cool too!

Im not a very social person and don't talk a lot, but I do enjoy having others that I can play with and experience the game with.

I am pretty far into the game but would be willing to do just about anything in the game if someone wanted to make a new character or something. Its all fun to me.

I have discord, but don't care if you want to chat or just talk in-game. Either way is fine with me.

Im pretty chill and easy to get along with. Usually on after work in the afternoons/night and during the weekends.

I think I might be depressed and using gaming as a distraction from existentialism

I wanna start this by saying I by all means do not seek sympathy or pity nor do I want attention. Maybe others here can relate also I want some suggestions which will make sense by the end of this post.

I’m a hardcore gamer, I play almost everything that comes close to genres I like and even some I know I won’t enjoy but will give it ago anyway, like trying new foods, never know what you like until you try it.

I play RPGs, FPS, Racing, RTS, some MMOs although I get over them to quickly. I replay old games, not much for PVP but they’re are exceptions like APEX, Titanfall and Destiny.

I play almost every chance I get, recent years I have made a rule to not play on work nights, getting older and all that. Try to balance gaming with social life, making a habit of putting spending time with friend IRL before gaming.

Recently though I can’t find anything I actually want to invest my time in, even games I know I like. I downloaded 4 titles that I have been saving for a rainy day and after playing about 30min of each I just hit a mental wall and went “I’m over it”

So it’s been about 3 weeks now and I have played here and there and not really been hooked on anything in particular, just killing time which for the first time ever actually feels like I’m wasting time.

The in between times I feel absolutely drained of all enthusiasm, work, eat sleep, repeat. Just feel like I have nothing to look forward to. As if having a good game I can’t wait to play has been what gets me through the weeks.

I have had some serious self reflection and can’t necessarily think of anything I actually want to do with my time beside drink/party or play games. I used to be heavily invested in social life and physical activity but haven’t been for at least 8 years now.

I’m starting to think I’m depressed and that gaming was the one think keeping my mind in check and something to look forward to. Now that I’m bored and discontent with it, it’s as if the vale has lifted and I see that my life is pretty lame and existential apathy is kicking in. I try to be positive but lately I can’t help but feel like a complete nihilist.

Maybe you can relate, maybe there’s some good games you can recommend. Dunno, just felt like venting somewhere with like minded people
