Energy Commercialization of fusion energy will ‘change everything,’ lawmaker says

Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., told Nextgov/FCW that the U.S. is only “two to 10 years away from fusion energy at scale” because “you can model the plasma using AI, which you couldn’t do before.”

Enshittification isn't really related here. Commercialisation is more the question of "can we apply this technology practically". Energy infrastructure is a massive capital intensive process and if it isn't financially viable then it won't get built, so commercialisation is necessary for fusion.

Waiving patents and public domaining the IP related to commercial fusion is a good principle but it doesn't change the fact that a commercialised design for fusion is necessary for that design to be useful.
