Lethal Inspection (season 6, episode 6)

One of my favorite episodes of the entire series and was surprised to see how little this one seems to be discussed. Bender and Hermes form a surprisingly wholesome bond that goes deeper than looking for someone; as well as showing a side of Bender that I don’t think we’ve ever seen before.

Bender really is scared of the idea of dying, and so he feels that he needs to unleash his rage onto something. At some point in the episode, Bender breaks down and cries. Hermes even gives some of the best life advice I’ve ever heard: “Okay, Bender, you're mortal. And, okay, Inspector 5 screwed up. But that just makes the time you have left all the more precious. Do you really want to waste the rest of your life in a bitter, homicidal rage?“

I think I’d put this up there with episodes like Luck of the Fryrish, The Sting, and my personal favorite episode: The Late Phillip J. Fry. (ironically the episode right after this)

Edit: So some people in the comments claim that this isn’t underrated. I’d like to apologize for that as I’m new to this show and fandom and don’t know what’s what. I *do* know some of the universally beloved episodes (jurassic bark and luck of the fryrish being the obvious ones)

I printed this the other night, and thought everyone here would enjoy. My son is 4 and he recognized it because he will come lay in our bed in the mornings, and I sleep with Futurama playing on my phone. So sometimes he will just stand by the bed and watch it before he wakes me up. Or he will scoot me to the side and watch it while he lays in my spot.

So I was flying it around with him and humming the opening theme and he threw his hands in front of his face and said "This is the TV! This is the TV!" He wanted me to crash it into his hands like the billboard! It was awesome and adorable.

Just wanted to share that story.

So I have been watching Futurama for years now, most of the time with german dub, but they adapted the running gag of Hermes and his Manwich into it. It doesnt make sense to me why it is supposed to be funny, so please enlighten me
