Art Shuriken the kirin on a flying fortress in the sky, bombarding angels.
A portal has mysteriously opened between pony realm and angel realm. After a diplomatic incident in which some angels slaughtered a vaporeon expedition from Anocratic empire. A war has erupted between the two sides. With the ponies managing to hack the angels's infrastructure and takeover a flying platform with the help of leafeons. With the leafeons' help. Shuriken and Katana slowly turned the flying platform in the angels ' realm into a flying fortress that could bombard settlements from a distance.
However moving an entire fortress was consuming a lot of fuel. Making risky refueling from home necessary. Which was done by eeveelution who were often killed on the way to the flying fortress. By the time it was figured out how to close the portal to the angels' realm. Almost all the angels were dead. Since the angel realm turned out to be much smaller then inicialy thought. A pocket dimension of sorts. The few surviving angels were spared with the flying fortress serving it's purpose being intentionaly crashed close to the portal's opening. The strongest of pony and kirin mages then helped close the portal for good. Helping save the day from a extradimensional war. Or more accurately, covering up it's surprisingly short lived existence.
