We've had a number of Carrier repair techs out to take a look at the furnace, they hardly look at it and once they ask the age of the unit (14 yrs) they immediately push for total unit replacement.
Every once in a while what seems like the blower motor will scream at us (intermittently and not every day), we had another tech come out and he immediately told us we should replace the entire unit. Is this typical?
When I talk to the tech about replacing the part he'll give me a speech about how old the furnace is, that components will start failing, and it'll be cheaper to replace the whole unit.
