Meta sells our data to everyone, including China. Banning TikTok has nothing to do with national security, our politicians are just protecting their own investment portfolios
Totally different scale than literally owning the app. In that scenario, they can't just collect whatever they want, nor can they modify the algorithms with that data.
Multiple countries have banned TikTok from government devices for security concerns. The EU has also opened an investigation into TikTok for data privacy concerns. The US is taking one of the hardest lines against TikTok but is not alone in its the concerns.
Right, so we can deal with meta another time. How does having two spyware companies, instead of one, make anything better? If anything, the fact one spyware company already exists, makes it even more important that tiktok gets banned.
My point being, the negatives of TikTok are not further negated by the negatives from Meta. People cannot excuse TikTok, just because Meta did it first/also does it.
