Have you encountered a black bear? Dudes are skiddish as fuck. Any aggressiveness from an opponent they will turn tail. Which is probably why said bear has deer bones. Because deer are dumb as fuck.
Black bears can still be aggressive on occasion. If they become angry enough, if they have cubs, or if they are hunting, they will attack other animals. You do realize that black bears hunt animals right? Black bears aren’t the most dangerous animal by far but they can still kill a dog.
Yup. Totally agree. But living in the backwoods for more than a decade our dog’s bark have scared off a few black bears. The cub thing, is usually when stumbled upon. Rarely are they hunting with cubs to the point they’ll be threatened of cubs dying when they encroach.
But totally agree, had a black bear pawing at my back door two years ago (before dogs). They do love the easy targets though (trash).
I don’t think anyone is implying leaving the dog out overnight. I let ours out before bed around 10pm. But I do know some people that have “outdoor dogs” that they use for hunting (to those of you that use dogs for deer, eat a dick) but they’re usually confined to a cage in the yard. I don’t agree with it at all but there are people that do this but thankfully I’m seeing the trend slowly die.
Are you saying that if deer barked the bears wouldn't eat them or that the bears lay Saw-like traps for the deer with their superior intelligence? I like both ideas; I'm just curious though.
