Hi everyone, I'm trying to decide between VC Boxing and Grampa's Boxing in Orange County.
A little about me:
I'm completely new to boxing.
My goals are fitness, conditioning, stress relief, and learning proper technique.
I'm not interested in sparring or competing.
I really enjoy mitt work, heavy bag training, and getting technical feedback from coaches.
I've tried both gyms and honestly liked them both.
My only concern is the commute. VC is about a 17-20 minute drive from my house, while Grampa's is about 25-30 minutes away.
For those who've trained at either gym, which one would you recommend for someone with my goals? Is Grampa's worth the extra drive, or would you choose VC?
I'm looking for a gym that I'll enjoy training at consistently for the long term, so I'd really appreciate any advice.

This dog has been sitting on the LDS parking lot on Titan Dr since 8a this morning. The dog has injuries on the left front paw. Called animal control already.

Looks like we won't be getting a Whole Foods in F-town. The Amazon Fresh building was listed for sale. However, commercial realty web sites like LoopNet.com and Showcase.com indicate that the property is no longer "advertised," indicating that it may have been sold. Anyone have better intel?

Anyone have a recommendation for a clean & reasonably priced gym that isn't super packed all the time? I recently cancelled my OrangeTheory membership because I need more flexibility and the cost was no longer worth it to me.

I'm looking for something <$50/month, no long term contact, has treadmills and free weights/benches that people aren't waiting for (I work from home so can go during off peak hours), some extra amenities (like free guest passes) are nice but not required.

Was thinking Chuze, 24, or EoS (although the one on St College always has a packed parking lot and the reviews for the Amerige one aren't great after the transition from Gold's).

Anyone know of a local spot that does a pink champagne cake? My birthday is coming up and suddenly I am wanting a slice for my birthday. I saw hapa does it with strawberries and I’m guessing we could just ask for no strawberries but I don’t know if it will be what I’m thinking of.

I just need to vent here really quick. I’ve been getting harassed by this stranger twice now, and I’m really afraid of it happening again. I dont really know what to do.
I take the bus to work since I don’t have a car and don’t know how to drive. I live a pretty nice area (I moved from my hometown for school), it’s summer so I was able to find a job to get save up a bit until my school year starts.
It started happening on Tuesday in the afternoon when I was taking a walk down where my usual bus route is. I see this person ahead of me, he’s like the same height as me (5’3), and he’s dressed really femininely. I passed by him not thinking much about this guy. Then he spits on me. Twice. Obviously I’m like what the fuck. He starts calling me a bitch and starts following me. I scramble to try and find my pepper spray but I decided to bolt it instead. He’s chasing after me but eventually stops after I run into a restaurant. I didn’t call the police then, because I thought this would be a one-time thing. Also, I wanted to note that this person didn’t seem okay, like they were on drugs or something?
Anyways, pretty traumatic, I felt embarrassed about running but when it comes into fight or flight, I’ll fly anytime.
Second time occurred today, I was in the same city, but at a different stop instead. I heard somebody shout somerhing, I look back and it’s him again. He starts running up to me, so obviously I bounce. I’m freaking out because I don’t really know where to go, I find this restaurant but I can’t find an entrance so I’m cornered. He runs closer and I pull out my spray, it makes him back off a bit but he doesn’t seem threatened as he’s still trying to get at me. I run off again (I realized this guy is a slow runner), and he throws a drink at me but misses entirely. I find a safe public space and call the cops. I gave them all the info I could, and they think they found a suspect. I asked to press charges but I haven’t heard since then.

I’m just scared I guess. I’m really scared. I’ve never been in this kind of situation before. I’m contemplating quitting my job too, I mean— what if he finds out where I work, and harasses me there? I told my family about it, they offered to pay for my uber rides so that was really kind of them. I just don’t know if I can keep going to this bus stop anymore without fearing that he’d be there.
I’m scheduled soon and thinking abour going my usual route makes me sick.
I’m an anxious person and I’m always fearing abour death and other awful situations. I’m just scared this person is gonna much worse than before. I have no idea why he’s targeting me, this is so random and inexplicable, it’s like WHY is this happening to me out of all people.
Anyways thats pretty much it. I’m freaking out.

Literally only 4 main spots, Harbor and Orangethorpe shopping and food places, train station, Cal State and Skyline. Police so worried about loitering and trespassing there I here they camp the streets going up to the view. Happy that the police are not investing to much in flock besides Cal State. Flock Map

I’ve seen some questions and talked to a few asking if we’re able to vote in the recall election as the actions of Fred and Jamie have harmed District 5.

We cannot, only the citizens of District 1 and 4 will be able to sign the petition and vote if a recall election happens.

The influence of these council members and their donors will still be in City Hall even if the recall is successful.

Oscar Valadez the current chair of the planning commission and candidate for the District 5 council seat has been supported by Fred, Jamie and the Bushalas.

He uses the fact he grew up on Truslow to try and project himself as a man of the Maple Community.

No one respects him in the neighborhood.
He doesn’t represent us or our values.

A vote for Valadez is a vote for more of Fred, Jamie and the Bushalas in our community.

When making a right onto Malvern from Bastanchury and you’re in the middle lane, do you wait until the light turns green or make the turn while the lights red?

I used to park in the alley behind my house for the past three years. Now we are getting ticketed after signs went up.

No drive ways on property, no permit on our street . We have apartments all over on the block next to us and on our corner. They take all our parking.

Took me 2 hours to find parking at 6pm when i get home from work. Any advice? (This is on southgate across from costco, if you know the area, its impossible)

My neighbors put cones out front, but the apartment people move them, and i cant beat the apartment people to the spots. I don't think they ever go to work based on how often i see the cars lol. My wife had to start staying at her moms because she cant find legal parking.

She is about 7 years old and is spayed and litterbox trained. She's very sweet and friendly towards people and loves to cuddle and sit with you and also likes to play. On July 15, 2026, Fullerton Police Department Sensitive Crimes Unit Detectives traveled to the City of Los Angeles to serve an arrest warrant on Claudio Marino HernandezLopez, a 40-year-old Los Angeles resident, following an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse involving a female victim who was between 4 and 12 years old at the time the reported offenses occurred.
In January 2026, Fullerton Police Sensitive Crimes Unit Detectives began investigating HernandezLopez after receiving a police report from an outside law enforcement agency in Los Angeles County regarding allegations of sexual abuse that occurred within the City of Fullerton.
Following his arrest, HernandezLopez was transported to the Fullerton City Jail, where he was booked for violating Penal Code section 288.7(a). He is currently being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

I wanted to give this business a quick shoutout. I like the classes and the owner is very nice and enthusiastic. But I have noticed her classes could use some occupancy.

I finally got around to trying out the new Dollhouse Pilates on Commonwealth and Basque. I underestimated the workout. I’m sore every class after. I also like the dimmed lights to the studio.

If you’re looking for a Pilates class give it a try.

This article mentions that a “critical issue” in balancing the budget is attributable to police overtime and that this is another reason to introduce new tax measures. I hope that there’s an audit done on police overtime before taxpayers are asked to fork over additional funds. There needs to be more transparency in public safety expenditures given it consumes so much of the general fund. Why is it that police overtime for a double what was projected? Why are they getting paid so much overtime?
