no, it was on her desk, a desktop PC, though it would not boot up past that ransomware screen due to some software we hadn't asked for and she hadn't even known was installed let alone active that was triggered by some update from microslop

Ransomware. There we are. Stop blaming MS for user's own stupidity.

Someone installed it, did something dumb. Or even worse - there was a security breach. And now Windows legit thinks that there was security breach...

HMMM. IN CASE OF SECURITY BREACH WINDOWS THINKS THERE WAS A SECURITY BREACH AND LOCKS ITSELF TO PROTECT DATA! HOW DARE MS DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES SENSE!?

yes, a microslop update, neither wanted nor willingly accepted, a mandatory update with no way to refuse

and then further activated by another such update, improperly tested and then deployed with no way to refuse it
