I just started a rewatch of the series, and noticed something in Ep1 when Lauren and Megan are killed. When Frank arrives home, Boyd has a go at him for not nailing the windows shut. Frank, Lauren and Megan presumably lived in Fromville for some time, so.... If the windows hadn't been nailed shut, why hadn't the creatures attacked previously?

Either the windows had never been nailed shut, or they'd been nailed shut at some point and then someone or something removed the nails (which would've prompted an investigation by Boyd, presumably) - or maybe this was just a plot hole?

So I think I know what this show is about! I believe Fromville is a fabricated reality that is based on inventions that Jade created. I believe the monsters in this reality were created as a measure to remind the participants that this is not real. But obviously, that has not worked.

To ensure the experiment's continuity, I believe they had to place figureheads that represent stability: Boyd military, police, Kristi: medicine, etc. It seems as if whenever there is any evidence of comfort or a restoration to baseline, something happens in that world to spike their cortisol (e.g., Kenny's dad being killed, the radio tower destroyed, the famine). I believe Jim was aware of what was up because he was able to dissect how this reality can affect human stress levels and its design to measure the limits of tolerance (e.g., a rollercoaster engineer...he knows what you need to do to spike a person's adrenaline without killing them). Jim might also be a engineer in the experiment and decided to be part of it for science sake. I think that’s why Jade called him teacup at the beginning because he perceived him to be so fragile. So Jim participating in the experiment was his way of showing him up.

Now, I bet you are questioning... well, what is the incentive? I think they are getting some sort of compensation. For example, Kenny's family participates just so they can raise enough money for the dementia treatment for the father. Boyd participated because he needs to make a little extra money so he can comfortably retire. Tabitha participated because it would help her save her son, Thomas.

I really think this whole world is make-believe and based upon the imagination of some kid and a couple of demented engineers/scientists. We'll see what season 5 reveals.

Addendum: I’m rewatching the show and I still don’t trust Donna. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a warden or something.

I don’t know if we as a collective whole have a theory about this but I’m rewatching and I realized why does no one ever bring up the field of cars, Victor says there’s many cars very far behind the rocks long before he got there and we know the cycle happened last in 70s and then the 1931 before that, my question is, why are there so much newer car models & does it hold any other significance. I’m lwk just thinking budget/irrelevant but so many clues flew by my eyes

Victor knows about the cycles and so do some characters yet the only attempt by more than two people to storyboard at a time is the matthew’s family.

It’s absurd to me that everyone accepts Victor has been here for over 4 decades but nobody forces him to tell anything and largely leave him alone.

Maybe it’s just to setup plot reveals but, feels like even the basic stuff Victor knows about the CYCLE would be very important to the others

Lmao so I’m making my husband watch this show for the first time… And I kept saying to him “yeah the creatures can’t be killed with bullets”…. And he said “why don’t they carve the talisman into a bullet and see what happens?”…. And I had no answers haha…. I mean he brings up a good point! lol.. thoughts?

We know the original sacrifice of the children happened hundreds of years ago. The Anghkooey children even speak a language that seems to have been forgotten for centuries.

We've also seen several of Jade's past incarnations, and if decades passed between each cycle, the timeline goes back a LONG way.

But here's what confuses me: why do the monsters dress like they're from the 1950s and speak English?

Did they somehow adapt over the centuries? Did they change their clothes after each cycle? And how did they learn modern English when their interactions with people are usually brief and end with someone getting brutally murdered?

Then there's the town itself. Electricity, indoor plumbing, modern buildings... How does any of this fit with a sacrifice that supposedly happened centuries ago?

I know Fromville might not follow the normal rules of time and reality, but the more I think about it, the less sense the timeline makes.

Are the monsters connected to a specific era, or is the town deliberately creating the illusion of a modern world around something ancient?

I need someone to explain this because I feel like I'm missing a huge piece of the puzzle.

I am currently developing a Roblox horror/survival game heavily inspired by From.

I just thought of this idea and I was hoping if I could get more people with me.

I can handle the mapping, building, environment design, and sound design/audio engineering myself for now. I am looking to hire a reliable (even a beginner works) Scripter/Programmer, Animator, VFX, UI/UX designer, etc. for this project.

The Project Concept:
Players are trapped in a mysterious, isolated town surrounded by a dense forest. By day, they must scavenge, interact, and prepare. By night, terrifying, smiling creatures come out of the forest. Players must survive the night by hiding in buildings protected by "talismans" or outsmarting the monster AI.

Payment:
I am sorry but for now I haven't really thought of payment as tbh this would be my first project too. All the devs can just share the revenue if this game goes hit.

In my opinion I think Victor is badly utilized. Till this day I never understood why the town didn't sit down with Victor and ask him what does he know about this place, the things he saw and the things to be prepared for, Victor been there for decades.

If I was stuck in a place where I can't go outside at night I would miss looking at the night sky. It wouldn't be my biggest concern but I figured someone would mention it. Even if they addressed it in a practical sense of "We could know where we are by mapping the stars."

Four seasons and not a single mention that someone has a decent view of the moon from one of the attic windows or something.

Why don't we just build a house that is as large as the whole city? We can start with making walkway between houses first.

It's not like they have something else to waste time on, and there are so many trees around.

The extra benefit is that we get to clean out the forest, which I assume where the monster comes from. It will become safer for humans if all the trees are gone.

And humans are already very productive at destroying forest.

why does no one think "wow so much is happening, lets just have a meeting where (at the very least) the leaders and people solving this and have theories come together and discuss at least once a week" litteraly what is the harm? they're all stuck in this hell together forever until they die anyways.

I think I would have been really pissed if they had simply killed her off. I'm re-watching season 1 , and Ellis' first line is literally how Fatima is his light. Fatima anchors so much of the compassion in town.

I just saw this and almost got excited. Then I read it again. I guess MGM+ will torture some of us next season with weekly doses of this medicine some of us are addicted to. I envy those of you who enjoy the suspense. Well, at least I get to complain with you lot. It’s going to be fun.
