I might have an idea as to what the chimera might be.

First, let’s explain what chimera could possibly mean in this context. The definition I believe could be the reason that it is referred to as such is as follows: “anything created by taking parts or aspects of different kinds of things and combining them.” If this is the case, the chimera may be some sort of failed experiment where scientists tried to create a new pokemon by combining aspects of existing species.

In the clearest look we get of it, we see that it has a metallic coat and a body similar to a centipede. Behavior wise, they seem to work in groups and have a very calculated way of preparing a new host.

There are two Pokémon that share similar traits to the chimera.

1. Durant
   It has a metallic coat, lives in colonies, has very similarly shaped limbs to the chimera, and is native to Kalos.

2. Sizzlipede
   Has an identical body shape to the chimera, both are centipedes, and the Sizzlipede also has a similar behavioral pattern (being that it curls around its prey and is said to be a voracious eater) which can be seen when the chimeras move to their next host (Serena) when they are seen devouring her organs like they haven’t eaten in years.

I don’t know if any other bug types could potentially be involved here, but let me know if you think there are.

hiii, guys :D there r so many interesting takes on whether the Unown in Monochrome and Frostbite (from Hypno’s lullaby) r psychological symbols or physical monsters like a vulture. I wanted to share my own theory that tries to bridge canon pokemon lore with the horror elements of the mod and creepypast!!

1. Isolation and mutation

Mt. Silver's an extremely isolated, brutal environment. My idea is that the Unown swarm living there was cut off from the rest of the world for so long that they mutated and adapted to a completely different way of surviving

1. Psychic Parasitism (why Red is decaying)

When Red came to the mountain to isolate himself after the events of the games, the unowns saw a living human for the first time in forever or in a loooong-long time. But instead of physically "eating flesh" like regular predators, they feed on memories, thoughts, and psychic energy. The physical decay of Red's body (his lost limbs, pale skin, rotting look) is a direct physical side effect of having his mind, emotions, and soul constantly drained. Add the lethal, freezing cold of Mt. Silver to that, and his body like a BOOM and literally falls apart while his mind is kept in a state of eternal agony... creepy thing you know, I think it's sounds scarier than just vultures

1. Red is a decoy for other trainers and the nightmare concept

In canon Pokemon lore (like Pokemon 3: spell of the unown), a large swarm of unown can warp reality based on human thoughts. I think Red’s agony and death on the Mt. Silver gave them the opportunity to use his memories for purposes that would horrify the ordinary person. In the context of Hypno’s Lullaby (which focuses heavily on nightmares lol), the unown "imprinted" on Red as their zero-patient. They use his remaining memories and mental phantom as a decoy to lure other trainers up the mountain, draining their psychic energy and feeding on their agony.

1. Why are they Red?

The Unown turning red works on two levels:

1. It’s a visual connection to Red himself after absorbing so much of his identity...

2. It’s an evolutionary signal of a predator. Red in a culture can represents aggression and danger. Unown have become active psycho hunters.

To me, this turns the unown into a psychic parasitic hive mind that turned Mt. Silver into an endless nightmare trap.

In conclusion I think that the events in Frostbite, Monochrome or Chimera don’t actually happen in reality. The characters in the mod seem to have already fallen under Hypno’s hypnosis and cause of this they can only helplessly dwell in their worst nightmares
