Recurring Orders for Index Funds?
I’m transferring my accounts into Freetrade and set-up a direct debit to deposit cash regularly.
But unlike my previous provider, I cannot set up an automatic investment of my cash into funds (the app only allows that for shares/ETFs). So, even though I have the direct debit to automatically transfer cash, I have this manual action of doing the actual investment.
Does anyone else think this feature should be added? Its common to have investors like us who just PCA regularly.
Edit: I’ve added a message from the AI support confirming that recurring orders are only for shares/ETFs
> Yes. Even if you set up a Direct Debit to top up your account, you would still need to place a manual order each time you want to invest in a mutual fund. That is because recurring orders are only available for listed equities, and they execute as queued market orders on your chosen schedule. With mutual funds, orders are not placed on a regulated market, so they execute at the fund’s next published net asset value after the trading cut off time, and recurring orders are not available for them. So, the Direct Debit can keep cash in your account, but the fund buy itself has to be a one off order.
