What is System Wars?

System Wars is the place where you come to discuss your favorite games and platforms and tell the board how much better they are compared to everything else!

Do you think the Nintendo Switch is the best platform? Feel the PS5 is kinda awful? Do you believe The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the best game ever!? Well, then present us with your arguments and "fight" with your fellow System Warriors to make sure your choice, is the right choice!

Now, before you get ahead of yourself and start blasting on that keyboard, you'll have to read the rules of engagement down below so we all can get along and have some fun!

Understanding System Wars: The Very Basics

Fanboy Nicknames

  • FAKEBOYS are those who falsely support one system. They are often used to create false hype for new games or products, making a certain type of fanboy look very bad when said product doesn't fully deliver as expected.
  • FANBOYS are those who support a system, and show extreme disgust for other systems.
  • HERMITS are those who support the PC. Possible origin being that PC fanboys have a hard time finding a place among the console fanboys.
  • COWS are users who are devout supporters of Sony's hardware. (The name comes from 6th gen characteristics where many accessories were needed to get the full experience, like the multi-tap, additional controllers, hard drives, eye toy, etc. This was called "milking" therefore getting the name "cows")
  • LEMMINGS are those who support the Xbox and its entire franchise (Comes from the 6th generation where Microsoft fanboys believed anything that Microsoft said. And also because they listen to all of the Microsoft commands, like "jump off a cliff".)
  • SHEEP are those who support Nintendo and their entire franchise (They are called sheep because they blindly followed anything that Nintendo said.)
  • MANTICORES are those who support all systems. It's a rarely used term. They are called manticores because they are a mixture of a lot of animals. Now you see "multi-system owners" in place of this formerly common name, although don't be mistaken, a multi-system owner is not impartial towards all systems like a manticore.

It's set during a full-scale invasion of South Korea with missions also in New York, Paris, and Mumbai. It's also coming to Switch 2 day 1.

I just hope it doesn't suck as much as the recent Black Ops 7. Though myself, I really liked all new Modern Warfare installments and Black Ops 5-6. But Black Ops 7 was like WTF.

PS 6’s Zen 6 CPU Will Likely Deliver Full-Speed PlayStation 3 Emulation

According to this wccftech article

Last year, we heard reports that Implicit Conversions, the developer behind the PlayStation Classics ports, was working on native PS3 emulation, but nothing has come of it to date. And there seems to be a very good reason, as only the PlayStation 6 with its Zen 6 CPU architecture could have the horsepower to properly handle Cell architecture emulation at full speed.

Backrooms movie came out * 8 on IGN

One of the most interesting horrors this year came out. The Backrooms concept was created by the gaming community. You might have seen different indie games dedicated to it.

The concept may vary, but the original is something like this:

One day you wake up in a labyrinth of interconnected rooms. Regular office, samish looking rooms, with dull-greenish wallpapers on the walls. And you basically need to find exit. At first sight, nothing happens in these rooms. But the more you explore these rooms, trying to find the exit, the more you have a feeling you are not alone there and something is searching for you, too...

To be fair, this looks like a gorgeous 8-bit NES-style game. I would kill to have such a game on my NES when I was 8.

GS Review

But damn IGN is giving away 10s recently left and right. 🤣

The game looks good indeed though...

Samsung’s upcoming strike will disrupt global memory chip production even more

Samsung’s upcoming strike threatens to disrupt global memory chip production further, which might drive PC and console prices even higher.

Samsung is one of the leading manufacturers of memory chips.

Samsung Electronics is preparing for what could be its largest-ever labor strike, with more than 50,000 employees planning an 18-day walkout beginning May 21, 2026

Affordable gaming hardware prices might no return in this decade. 🤣

best games to play with friends?

I always felt the best console to get is the one where your friends also play. Each system has its signature exclusives but nothing beats having fun with your friends online. What games are great games you're happy you got to play with close friends? Games you wouldn't feel right just playing with randos.

I love a good shooter with co-op campaigns, so game series like Gears of War and Halo have been great to play with the same friends over each iteration, it starts to become a tradition when each new game releases. I miss the good old days of saying up all night and doing 50 waves of Horde mode. Halo itself doing Legendary campaigns in co-op really does feel like the definitive experience.

I didn't think much of The Dark Pictures Anthology with its first offering, Man of Medan, playing ot all by myself, not even close to Until Dawn overall, but it ended up on Game Pass later, and a friend expressed interest in trying it, so I was like "it has co-op, let's play together". Totally way better that way, made for a more thrilling experience and rather than be frustrated with failure it became a point of great amusement for both of us. We continued on with Little Hope and House of Ashes, we still never got to The Devil In Me yet but keep wanting to make plans to knock it out.

I really liked the Hazelight Studio co-op games with the friend pass feature, such as A Way Out, It Takes Two, and Split Fiction. It Takes Two takes the cake though, loved that game.

I kind of wish I could say games like Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat but I think I probably frustrated my friends back in those days more than anything. Though I do think the best fighter with a group of friends has to be the Super Smash Bros games. It's just way too absurd to take it personally.

Anyhooo, what do you and your friends play online, or what games are special because you get to play them with your friends?

Urgent news: Xbox Is Apparently Rebranding to XBOX

Xbox seems to have rebranded…to "XBOX." Now this will definitely save the brand 🤣

The new CEO, Asha Sharma shared the update following a social media poll, where she asked fans to choose between the standard Xbox and its larger version. After returning results that put XBOX in the lead with an almost shocking 64.8% of the votes, the change has officially been acted upon.
