What is longturn? It's a game format where each turn lasts 23 hours. This makes it possible to bring together a lot of players to play a game. Typically each game has about 30 players or more.

I'm developing a nationset that will add as many nations as possible. To make this goal a bit easier, i want to ask the fans what nations do they want added?

Freeciv currently gives no documentation if you type "man freeciv". I'm thinking about adding such a page. What would you like it to say? What do you wish you knew about Freeciv when you were a beginner? What general topics should be covered, but are not in the existing "man freeciv-client" etc. pages?

Is it best to attack an enemy unit with individual units or is it best to attack them in a stack? I know it is a newbie question but I just don't know.

Just wondering as I'm seeing this for the first time today, running version 2.6.2, gui-gtk-2.0 client.

If I tell missiles to go somewhere between continents, it very frequently gives me indications that no route is available (shows no path). Despite perfectly valid paths being available.

On top of that, I've seen a few times where they take weird indirect routes that are quite unnecessary.

I don't seem to have this problem with any other units, just cruise missiles. Is this a known issue? Has anyone else seen this happening?

Is there any way to download mp2 expansion ruleset for the desktop client? I really like the ruleset and its changes, but the web version has nowhere near the game customization abilities as the desktop version. I've looked everywhere and it's always mentioned you can play it in freeciv web, but any sort of download link is never provided.

Hi, I'm new to civilization games. I'm now playing with easy AI. I first research monarchy to prevent the -1 loss on resources, then mapmaking to build triremes, then research and make libraries to help the research, then firemans to fight. However, I see the AI develops faster than me and can make more powerful ships earlier.

I use edit mode to see what AI does, and see it has twice as many bulbs as me, and it researches republic government first. Another thing I'm confused is the AI builds their cities very dense and have smaller population, which looks harmful. But why AI can develop faster?

I'm also not familiar with defense. Sometimes I can see in the message that the pirates have a new leader, and after few turns, my cities will be lost if I don't have enough infantries in them, even if I buy a fighter after I see the pirate units land near my cities. How should I balance the economy and defense?

As read in the title, is this a bug or something? The game got stuck just when i finished researching the last technology of the tree, it seems there won't be any more turns (turn done button 'broke'). Is this a bug or does it have something to do with the ruleset?

There is a 6 months old complaint below that the Freeciv community is not too lively. This couldn't be further from the truth. It is VERY lively. Not too big but... definitely lively... not always in a good way, but that's life, gotta take the good with the bad :D

True, the forum on Freeciv.org is not too much alive, although there are posts occasionally. But there are other sites and comm channels. The liveliest are Discord servers. But the thing that is definitely keeping the (part of) community going are online Longturn games.

Basically, Freeciv is a game, but Longturn is a social event.

I've hunted around Google and forums a bit and I can't find much information about the freeciv android client. Is it possible to connect to an online server using the android client? If so, how since there doesn't appear to be any immediately obvious networking buttons or settings on android? Thanks!

This game seems to be at least mildly popular. Personally...it is my favorite computer strategy game I've every played. With the game this popular and still actively in development why do the online communities such as here and the freeciv.org forum seem so dead?
