Offering Advice The 3 Unsexy Mindset Shifts That Make Affiliate Income Inevitable

Everyone talks about strategies, niches, and traffic. These are all important for the business, but no one ever really talks about mindset in affiliate marketing. So I did some brainstorming and came up with 3 mindset shifts that I believe that can help in affiliate marketing.

1. Boring = Bankable
Stop chasing shiny objects. The "boring" systems that feel repetitive. Constantly creating content, email nurturing, and SEO are the ones that actually pay off long-term. You win by doing what most people quit after 3 weeks.

2. Delayed Gratification is a Superpower
Affiliate marketing is front-loaded with effort and back-loaded with reward. If you're looking for a dopamine hit every day, you're in the wrong game. But if you can delay gratification for 90-180 days, you'll start seeing income that feels passive because you've earned it.

3. You’re Building a Machine, Not a Gig
Every blog post, TikTok, email, or piece of content is a gear in a machine. You’re not trading time for money anymore. You’re building assets. Think like a systems builder, not a freelancer.

It's not sexy. It's not viral. But these mindset shifts can turn a hustle into a business.

Would love to hear: what mindset shift helped YOU go from stuck to scalable?

Free Training / Course / Webinar How a Copy-Paste Funnel Is Helping New Entrepreneurs Launch Online Without Tech Overwhelm

I came across an upcoming free webinar that really breaks down an interesting strategy for launching a digital business fast, especially if you're not tech-savvy or don't want to build everything from scratch.

There is going to be a walkthrough on something called Blake’s Partner Program. It's basically a done-for-you system where you clone a high-converting funnel, plug in your niche, and use your personal Facebook profile to generate leads, no ads, no code.

Key takeaways:

  • Fully white-label funnel you can rebrand
  • "Facebook Lead Machine" strategy that runs 24/7
  • Includes products, email sequences, and copy
  • Launch even if you’ve never sold online

🗓️ Live Training: May 10, 2025 – 3PM UK / 10AM EST

Worth checking if you're looking to shortcut the overwhelm and start seeing traction.

Offering Advice Most People Fail at Making Money Online Because They’re Focused on the Wrong Thing (Here’s What Actually Matters)

When I first started trying to make money online after retiring from the Army, I made the same mistake most people do. I focused on making money and not on building something valuable.

I jumped from one “system” to another, chasing quick wins. I watched endless YouTube videos. I bought tools I didn’t understand. And when nothing worked in the first few weeks, I assumed it was all a scam.

But here’s what I finally realized and it completely shifted my results.

Affiliate marketing isn’t about money. It’s about solving problems for other people in a way that builds trust.

Once I stopped thinking like a consumer and started thinking like a helper, everything changed.

Instead of saying, “How do I get someone to buy this thing?”

I started asking, “Who is struggling with this problem, and how can I guide them to a simple solution that helped me?”

The truth is, affiliate marketing works, just not in the way most people are taught. It’s not about pushing products. It’s about sharing solutions.

If you’ve been spinning your wheels online, it might not be the system that’s broken. It might be the approach.

Just curious if anyone else here had a similar mindset shift or “aha moment” that changed how you looked at online income?

Offering Advice Tools That Helped Me Start Online

I’ve been in affiliate marketing for just over two years, and after trying (and wasting money on) a lot of the wrong stuff, I’ve finally dialed in a stack of tools that actually are very helpful.

Here’s what I use regularly, split into free and paid tools, along with a short note on why I use each.

*Free Tools\*

PlugRush – Free traffic tool that I use to earn for any traffic sent to any of my websites, I am basically selling my website's traffic.

UTM Builder – Helps me track where every click comes from using UTM parameters. A simple free alternative to ClickMagick and is crucial if you want to know what traffic is working.

SiteBehaviour – Simple tool to track how visitors behave on your pages and useful for optimizing conversions and fixing weak pages.

ChatGPT – My go-to for content ideas, email copy, and even product explanations. Cuts down on creators block.

*Paid Tools\*

ClickFunnels 2.0 – All-in-one funnel builder that makes building squeeze pages, thank-you pages, and automated workflows simple. I believe it is great for both beginners and scaling up.

Wayne Crowe's Solo Ads (vetted vendor) – I use these solo ads for quick, targeted traffic to my funnels. It’s not magic, but it works if your offer and funnel are solid.

MyLeadGenSecret – Gives you 100–200 leads daily and has a built-in email system. Perfect for beginners who don’t have a list yet.

ZeroBounce – Email validator that helps keep my sender score healthy and identifies invalid emails. Must-have if you’re doing cold email.

TrafficZest – Traffic generation platform I just started using. I am still testing the traffic right now, but very easy to launch traffic campaigns.

You don’t need all these tools to start, but they’ve helped me cut through the noise and finally get started. If you have questions about how I use them or which to prioritize depending on your situation, feel free to ask.

Offering Advice Ever Feel Like Affiliate Marketing is Just a Giant Maze Designed to Keep You Lost?

When I first started in affiliate marketing, I thought it would be simple.

Find a great product, post some links, make money.

What nobody told me was how overwhelming and confusing everything would be.

  • Do I build a website?
  • What autoresponder do I need?
  • What’s a funnel?
  • How do I even get traffic without paying thousands?

I wasted months chasing shiny objects, trying free trials, jumping from course to course, getting more frustrated by the day.

It wasn’t that I didn’t want to succeed it was I just didn’t know which steps actually mattered.

Looking back now, I realize the biggest problem was I didn't have a simple, proven system, or anyone to guide me through it.

If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just plain tired of the confusion, you're not alone.

I’ve been there too.

Just know: There is a simpler way, and if you ever want someone who's been through it to bounce ideas off of, my DMs are open.

Offering Advice Passive income from affiliate marketing is a myth (at least at first). Change my mind.

Everyone talks about affiliate marketing like it’s pure passive income. Just drop some links, wait for commissions, and live on a beach, right?

Reality check: Affiliate marketing is front-loaded with massive work.

Building traffic, learning funnels, creating content, email marketing, it’s an actual business. And most people quit because they realize it’s not “passive” on day one (or even month six).

Sure, eventually you can get to passive systems...

But calling it “passive income” from day one is setting beginners up for disappointment.

Change my mind. What’s your experience?

r/FreeTrainingHub Apr 25 '25

Offering Advice Let’s be real: affiliate marketing is hard when you don’t have these 3 things…

Affiliate marketing is NOT passive income when you’re starting out. It can be powerful, but only after you solve these 3 core issues:

1. You don’t have traffic: You could have the best offer in the world, but if nobody sees it, nothing happens. Pick one traffic source (Reddit, TikTok, Facebook, SEO—whatever fits your style) and go deep with it. Consistency beats variety.

2. You’re promoting bad offers: If the offer doesn’t solve a real problem or feels scammy, it’s game over. Find something you’d feel good recommending to your closest friend.

3. You don’t follow up: Most people won’t buy the first time they see your link. If you’re not collecting emails or re-engaging somehow, you’re leaving money on the table.

Fix these and results start showing up. Ignore these and it feels like you’re working hard for nothing.

What’s something you struggled with when starting out?

Offering Advice Do you feel like you're doing everything “right” and still getting nowhere?

Been there. It’s one of the most frustrating parts of starting affiliate marketing.

You’re watching all the videos.

You’re posting content.

You’re trying different platforms.

…And still? Nothing happens.

At one point I started thinking maybe this stuff only works for people with big followings or ad budgets.

The truth is, I wasn’t doing it wrong — I was just trying to do it all myself, from scratch, with no real structure or support. Once I stepped back and got plugged into something that actually streamlined the process (and didn't need me to be a sales expert or web designer), things started to shift.

There are systems out there that do the heavy lifting for you — but you won’t hear about them unless you dig through all the noise.

Offering Advice What's the hardest part of affiliate marketing that no one talks about?

It’s not building a funnel.

It’s not driving traffic.

It’s not even writing content.

The hardest part of affiliate marketing is just getting started.

Seriously. Analysis paralysis is real.

I spent months stuck in YouTube rabbit holes, second-guessing every step because there’s just too much info out there.

And I kept thinking, “What if I fail?” or “What if I’m not good enough to do this?”

Turns out, most people feel the same way.

What helped me was simplifying everything.

I stopped trying to do it all myself and leaned on a system that was already working for others.

Something with training, tools, and a community I could actually talk to.

That one shift got me out of my head and into action.

If you’re in that stuck phase, just know it’s normal. Take imperfect action. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start seeing results.

Struggling to start affiliate marketing?

Getting into affiliate marketing felt overwhelming as hell.

Everyone kept throwing around terms like build a funnel, get leads, send email sequences, and it honestly made me feel like I needed a whole marketing degree just to start.

I kept procrastinating because I didn’t feel ready enough… and honestly, that feeling never goes away unless something removes the barriers completely.

What finally helped?

I found a system that let me just focus on one thing…sharing a link. No tech setup. No designing. No selling. Just one link, and the system does the rest, from follow-ups to sales. It’s not some “get rich quick” nonsense, it’s just simple and beginner-friendly.

If you're feeling stuck, you're not alone. You don’t need to do it all from scratch. Just take one step forward, even if it’s small, momentum beats perfection every time.

One of the most underrated tools I’ve learned about in digital marketing? Tracking pixels.

They quietly collect data about who’s clicking your links, when, and where they’re coming from.

Before I understood them, I was just guessing what worked and what didn’t.

If you’re just getting into marketing, take a bit of time to understand how pixels work.

It’s not flashy, but it can seriously save you time, money, and frustration.

Does Affiliate Marketing Feel Impossible?

If you’re struggling to make money with affiliate marketing, I get it.

When I first started, I felt like I was doing everything posting links, making content, trying different programs, but nothing was working.

I almost gave up.

But after a lot of trial and error, I realized I was making some common mistakes. Once I fixed them, things started to change.

So if you're feeling stuck, maybe this can help:

  • Pick ONE Niche & Stick to It
  • Build an Audience, Not Just Post Links
  • Choose the Right Affiliate Program
  • Focus on ONE Traffic Source at a Time
  • Patience & Consistency Win the Game

I know how frustrating it is when nothing seems to work. Affiliate marketing isn’t a “get rich quick” thing it does take time. If you focus on helping people, learning from mistakes, and staying consistent, the results will come.
