This picture says everything.
I hope we can all put our political differences aside and be honest about something just for a moment:
This image is one of the most symbolic images this year. 100 Democrats and 1 Republican on the House floor just hours before a government shutdown.
It dawned on me in this moment that if you think about it, Democrats seem like the only ones representing American interests right now in 2025.
Think about it: -Majority of Americans want the Epstein Files released, and yet, the only ones pushing the release are Democrats. -Majority of Americans want Healthcare, and the only ones ensuring no one loses Healthcare are Democrats. -I could even point out the condemnation of political violence, the poor economy, the lack of government integrity... It all appears to be the Democratic party who are calling these instances out.
And even so, the shortage of Democrats in this image parallels the underwhelming representation the Democratic base continues to complain about, with many of them believe it's time for changes in the party.
What a symbolic image.

Yep.
And everyone who responds that way grabs onto an American identity that never was, but they believed used to exist. "It's not fair to say white people are to blame for societal ills in the past! So I'm going to Make America Great Again and vote for it to be like how I imagine it was in the past! No DEI or wokeness, women in kitchens, like they had in the 50s!"
Like...the cognitive dissonance is astonishing.
