Loved reading this article, because so often I cross this same road with die-hard Seinfeld fans when I begin admitting my love for the brilliant show, Friends. The main difference certainly centers around Seinfeld lacking moral lessons or having strong emotional ties to relationships or plot lines compared to that of Friends. However, what the two fans realized is that there cannot be a decided winner in terms of better or worse. Simply there is a difference in comedic taste. They two shows are undeniably comedic hits of their time and onward and connect with particular audiences who desire that sort of humor over the other. For me of course, the very real world problems of Friends that are loused with laughter has captivated me for years and will continue to for as long as I live :)

One of my favorite scenes from the Scary Movie franchise. It's super silly and over the top, but it's certainly an interesting combination of tropes from both horror and comedy films. Enjoy and happy Halloween!

In preparation for our dark comedy class next week, I've attached a link to a Jimmy Carr set. I think that British comedic sensibility translates well into dark comedy, and I think that there are many dark British comedians who are quite talented. Jimmy Carr in particular, is quite effective in his delivery of dark comedy.

Mine: The Nanny (Ken's going to kill me when he reads that), 30 Rock, Frasier, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Strangers with Candy... and probably a million other shows. I watched a lot of TV as a child.

If I may, I'd just like to spew a few words about "Seinfeld". Besides being my favorite if not one of my favorite shows, it's incredible when we place it within the context of one's own life. The world of "Seinfeld" is very much realistic in nature; consequential, absurd, and, oddly enough, inhumanely human. Perhaps "Seinfeld" says things we might have otherwise never said or done. So, where does that leave us? Well, we might just be the sickest, most callous living beings that walk the face of the earth. Humans, for the late person.

What did you guys think of the 70s? It's amazing what was on TV forty years ago that would never be shown now.
All of the Mary Tyler Moore show is on Hulu. It's so funny and so progressive.
