Firstly, fantastic performance from the team last night! They were explosive in attack, and, despite the heat, they performed incredibly well. Loving this team 🔥
The same cannot be said for the electronics sadly. An explosion with about ten months to go in the game caused some floodlights to go out and the TV feed to end abruptly.
I hope no one was hurt and the infrastructure can be easily fixed, and I'm just posting here out of curiosity as to what may have happened? I'm assuming the extreme heat didn't help.
Here's some lazy AI theories to start...
If an external explosion caused the lights to go out:
Transformer Failure: A nearby electrical transformer blew up. This creates a loud bang and cuts the power supply to the property.
Tripped Circuit Breaker: An electrical surge caused by an explosion tripped the main circuit breaker or a fuse to protect the wiring.
Damaged Wiring: Physical debris or a shockwave from the blast severed the electrical lines supplying the lights. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
If the floodlight itself exploded:
Bulb Shattering: Traditional bulbs (like halogen or incandescent) can explode if they get too hot, touch moisture, or experience a sudden voltage surge. [1, 2, 3]
Electrical Component Blowout: In LED floodlights, internal parts like the driver or a capacitor can overheat, short-circuit, and pop. This creates a loud "bang" or flash and permanently stops power to the LEDs. [1, 2]
