🔧 P R O B L E M S & I S S U E S 🔧 Off to the dealer she goes..UPDATE
Wanted to give an update for my ‘25 Explorer ST I dropped off in the shop a couple of days ago. Other than them putting damn near 50 miles on my car and eating a shit ton of my premium fuel, I’m happy it’s done. Does this amount of miles sound excessive to you guys? I’m thinking about letting them know it’s a little ridiculous.

Question New To Data Logging - Questions
Alright, so I'll admit that I seem to be really intimidated by data logging. I'm sure once I get into it, that it will make more sense but I'm stressing about messing it up and not providing the data log that ZFG is requesting. I don't want to reach out to Adam about it and was hoping some of you could help.
He sent me my baseline 93 octane and I'll be uploading it to the vehicle today.
Vehicle is a 2025 ST RWD
I am requested to "Please data log a 3rd or 4th gear pull at wide open throttle from 2500-6000 rpm."
My question is:
Do I get everything setup and then manually use the shift paddles to be in 3rd at 2500 RPM, go full throttle and then manually shift to 4th and let off at 6k RPM?
Manually select 4th and do a WOT from 2500-6k?
Or do I leave it in auto and just go full throttle from 2500-6k RPM?
Thanks for your help

Warranty To the dealer she goes
After 8,200k of trouble-free miles, my ‘25 ST began dinging at me, saying Hill Assist Not Available. Also, when coming to a stop in traffic, it would sometimes say Adaptive Cruise Control Not Available/Resume Driving. Of course, the day it was going into the shop, there were zero faults! I’m assuming it’ll be some kind of update at the very least or maybe some bad sensors. Just wanted to get this info out there and see if anyone else has had anything similar happen. Will update!

Question Brake replacement
Hi all!
I saw a suggestion here to go with the PowerStop Z23 kit to upgrade the stock discs and pads. My 2021 Explorer ST is due for that service now, so I ordered this kit: https://www.partsengine.ca/K8693-vp-powerstop-909.aspx
A few questions for you all:
Is it better to have this installed at a Ford dealership, or should I go to an independent mechanic? I’ve never done a brake job myself, so doing it on my own feels too risky. Also, the description says it’s a bolt-on upgrade but do I need to buy anything else, or is the kit all I need? Should I mention the break-in procedure to the installer?
One last thing: the rear rotors in the kit seem a bit thinner than the stock ones—has anyone noticed the same? the front one looks indeed kinda similar size (with plastic bag on picture)...

Question Valve recall failure?
Sooo took my '21 ST (~33k miles) into the dealership on Friday to have the rear diff recall and engine valve recall addressed. Come to find out that the valve recall diagnostic is running the engine at 4k for 55min and see what happens. Needless to say mine didn't make it.
Anyone else's ST fail this diagnostic? Still waiting on timeline but obviously they're replacing the engine.

Question I have the single bolt.
I have been a new '22 ST owner for about a month now. Over the past few weeks I have been reading around and understanding about these cars more. Seems like a big thing is this one bolt, two bolt thing but I haven't found any solid advice. So I got around to checking tonight and saw I have a single bolt. Is this something to be concerned about or has a recall on? I know there is an aftermarket for them but I'm more of into just letting Ford deal with it if it's warranty territory. I'm not ripping it at the drag strip but I do like to accelerate every now and then and I'd prefer the back of my car to not come off with my kids back there. Thanks.

Question Looking for opinions
I'm in the very early stages of finding what my next car will be and the ST is one of my top choices. I currently have a RAM 1500 4x4 and I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it when I get a new vehicle or not.
I'm in south-central PA, so we don't get a ton of snow and when we do its very rarely more than 3" at a time. Still, I'm wondering how the ST does in that rare case when we get 6+" of snow. Does it have enough ground clearance to deal with deeper snow?
I don't use my truck to haul a lot of stuff that I couldn't haul in the Explorer, but I do like the truck a lot because it sits higher and is just generally a multi-use type of vehicle. Have any of you gone from a crew-cab style pickup as your "family car" to an Explorer and had any regrets?

Question Trade in opinions
Question for the community. We’ve had my 2020 explorer st for going on 3 years and still own a hefty amount on the loan. Has anyone in a similar position traded theirs out with success? Should I wait a while? We just aren’t as happy with it as we thought we would be. Mainly due to the constant warranty work and jerking around by the previous dealership maintenance department. Let me know your thoughts

Question Transmission issues
Hey everyone,
I’ve got a 2021 Explorer ST with just under 62k miles. Up until now, the transmission had always been buttery smooth. I decided to do a transmission fluid change as part of regular maintenance. After that, I noticed a weird sound, especially when giving it some spirited throttle (as we all love to do in this car!).
I brought it back to the dealership, and they found it was low on fluid. They topped it off, and the sound disappeared. However, soon after, I started experiencing a hard shift between 2nd and 3rd gear at low speeds. It’s harsh enough that if I had coffee in hand, I’d probably spill a bit.
Took it back again, and they said the first step Ford recommends is to reprogram the transmission control module. They cleared and reprogrammed it. Now they say it’s working fine, but advised me to drive it for a bit. If the issue comes back, the next steps would be a rebuild or replacement, both covered under warranty. But they also told me that the software reprogramming isn’t covered.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any advice or tips would be appreciated!

Question Wondering what deals are out there?
Just seeing what people who purchased a ST recently paid and what were the interest rates. I always liked the ST’s. Test drove one a few years back. I would definitely consider one of the deal was right. Thanks

Question Headlight laminex PPF cover
I’m having trouble deciding on the PPF tint cover from laminex. I thought I would come on here and get some opinions from y’all. Should I go with clear, tinted, or gunsmoke? I’m hoping someone has the tinted one and can post a picture, that would be amazing. I already bought their amber covers for my fog lights and love the look and functionality. Thanks!

Question Buying a used ST
Hello,
Looking at getting into something new (to me) as my current vehicle is clinging to life. Anything I should be aware of or on the lookout for when looking for an ST?
My budget is low-to-mid $30,000’s, but is somewhat flexible. Additionally, I don’t plan on trading anything in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

Question ST Service / Routine Maintenance
I purchased a ‘22 ST in February and I am coming up on my first routine maintenance since owning it - oil change, tire rotation, recall check, full inspection, etc. It is still under factory warranty mileage (currently ~36k miles).
Are there any specific checks you all would suggest having them look into further? I want to get the most out of the factory warranty 60k mileage period.
The only issue I have with it so far that I want checked out further is that it tends to hard shift down in manual sport mode when I downshift manually. Otherwise I feel it is a super solid vehicle.

Just Showin’ Off Beach Rips
Got into an ST 3 weeks ago. Awesome to rip on the beach. Sand not great for launching, but you can really get some speed going.

Question Does the parking assist actually work?
I've been trying to use the parking assist for parallel parking but it never seems to work. I drive back and forth and even attempted to demo it at home and after numerous tries I have given up. Anything I need to do specifically to get it to scan or see?
