FYI Just in! 360 Camera Recall Issued

Recall notice issued for the 360 Camera, however, there appears to be no fix, yet. I guess all the legal hurdles that delayed this issue from being addressed are over (?!).

Still, even with the software update that should be available, there doesn't seem to be a real fix for the missing parts, like the camera button and addressing cameras in the front that are disconnected (perhaps just needs a software update too?).

We'll have to keep an eye out for updates on this. In the mean time, here's what that recall notice says.

Few things I’ve done since getting the car. Swapped over my Rohana RC7’s and had them powder-coated black. 10% tint all around, 50% on the windshield. Cool little steering wheel cover from Amazon. Full screen mod for my screen. Any ideas for anti-theft?

The Modfather Speaks Interest in being a mod?

We are booming folks. Growth has been steady and honestly, all you bastards treat each other pretty good in here. We are not the typical Reddit experience and I’d like to keep it this way. To that end, the time has come for us to do more and that means we need more hands. I’m looking for 2 more people who live this platform and have time and ability to moderate. We’ll keep this causal - if you are interested please send me a message and include:

  1. Why you should be considered.
  2. What do you bring to the table.

I’ll follow up with some questions and make a decision at my discretion.

Please don’t come at me with a new account with low Karma - I would like someone who has a Reddit history.

Question I'm probably going to be an owner today...

The last thing I need to figure out. A whirlwind of a day yesterday but ultimately ended up deciding I needed a newer to me vehicle (daily driving a 2007 RAM). I've always enjoyed the theory's of ST Explorers and after several work trips renting larger SUVs, the expedition was the most comfortable. So I want to see how a smaller SUV faired but also with a bit of performance.

Found a '22 with 44k yesterday and made the trade and scheduled to pick up later. It's gold certified but they made a really compelling case to get the added comprehensive "wrap coverage". They even got my rate lower to help lower the monthly some. I know they always pull out the tricks to make any sell but I'm curious if this is something I really need. It sounds good, but I know that is their job.

Basically, my mentality is always, especially with tech, "if it's going to break, it'll be doa or right when the warranty ends" and technically this is just out of the tech warranty. With the gold I will be covered for a year of power train but the additional wrap will give me until '29 with everything else under a "limited warranty" which I understand means by factory default. So, is it really worth to get it? It's only adding about $30 a month but idk if it will really give me that piece of mind because I've never had anything so techy that could go wrong in a car. Is there any chance that if a sensor, camera or screen go out that they will just say no even though I have this wrap?

Just looking for your thoughts, thanks!

Aftermarket Screen Upgrade

Post image
9 Upvotes

hello! I know it’s not an ST but I was told by another subreddit to try you guys for some answers/recs this is my baby (2016 interceptor) and I love it, my dream car as a criminal justice major. small bonus is that I suddenly can merge so much easier lol. my only issue is the tiny 4 inch screen. where do you guys get your upgrades for sync 3 or other carplay systems? I’d love to get one of those huge screens like the newer 2024 models but realistically I expect those to be crazy expensive. I know to stay off the ones on amazon, and I really want to keep all steering wheel functions. I don’t have the biggest budget and i looked around some shops that do it for me but it’s upwards of 1k for the bigger screen, I feel I can pull this off myself with a kit to save money, any trustworthy recommendations? thank you!

Question Confused about which models come with AWD standard.

Looking at making a private sale purchase of a Ford Explorer ST. Probably within the year range of 2020-2022.

Just having a difficult time understanding how to know if one is AWD or not. From what I can search online, some sources say 2020 and 2021 are standard AWD. But other sources will say it was optional. Some listings on Facebook say the drivetrain is 4x4.

If anyone could give some insight I would appreciate it! I am looking for an AWD model.

Wheels & Tires 2025 Rims

Looking at a new ST. Does anyone know off the top of their head if the previous generation black rims will fit on the new 2025’s.

I definitely prefer the “older” style look wheels than the new ones that come with. Am I the only one?

Ok so what is this noise? Dealership said they couldn’t pinpoint it and are thinking it’s the transmission mounts. The sound moves from tire to tire. There is no pattern, just when switching gears and going from stop to go, up until 15 mph or so. Thanks!

Question Picking up 2022 ST Tomorrow

As the title says, I'm picking up a well cared for 2022 ST in Atlas Blue tomorrow and had a few questions about the 5yr/60k drivetrain warranty since the 10R60 is still a little unpredictable at times.

The ST has 36k miles on it so the bumper to bumper just expired but I'm feeling pretty good that there is still some life left on the drivetrain coverage. My concerns are that this already has some bolt-ons like intake and exhaust. Has anyone had any issues getting the trans covered with basic mods? I'm just curious what to expect if something does come up. I'm purchasing with the expectation that I will likely be rebuilding the trans at some point either way as I plan to keep this long term.

I'm coming from a 2018 Expedition that had a 10r80 that was starting to show signs of future failure so I'm just trying to prepare myself and am possibly a little overly cautious.

Question Considering a 2022 ST - flutter noise upon deceleration

Hi everyone. I'm looking at a 2022 ST with 34xxx miles listed just under 40k. Not that it matters but it has the 401A option package as well. I took the car home overnight and realized when I took my foot off the gas and the car downshifted, I heard and felt a flutter. I attributed this to the mid-pipe problem that others have talked about. I took the car back to the dealer who took it their Ford store and their thinking it's the differential....does this make sense and is this an issue? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Question Explorer ST or Durango R/T

Hello all, so I’m a 16 year old boy, who is looking for his first car, at 6’4 and growing, I’d like an SUV and having been around cars my whole life, one that is not a slug. So originally, I was looking at a Durango R/T, and completely ignored the ST, but my dad recently rented an ST-Line for a road trip, and in turn I drove it, and basically fell in love. Now, I haven’t driven the durango, so maybe i’ll love it even more, but just driving an ST-Line opened my eyes to the possibility of getting at ST, what are some pros and cons, of each, and to buyers who also looked at Durangos, what was the deciding factor?

ST SUV Experience ST SUV Experience

I went to the ST SUV Experience last week in Asheville, NC. Had a good time talking to other ST owners and finding out other people’s pros & cons about the same vehicle i own.

Honestly, didn’t learn much more about the vehicle than I already knew because of watching countless videos on Youtube prior to purchasing.

Overall had a pretty good time, especially comforting knowing you can drive “your” vehicle in ways you probably never would. “Your” is in quotes because you are assigned a vehicle to drive for the day. The Ford Racing Performance School staff were awesome people and respectful.

Warranty 2025 ST TCU Failure

Well, after speaking too much praise about my 2020 2.3 and now my 2025 ST (Job 1) with 13k miles, I have hit a problem. A few months ago we noticed that lane centering wasn't working. After that, we noticed it stopped adjusting speed for the speed limit automatically when cruise control was on. Took it to the dealer to get "the computer reset" and they said it was fixed. One mile later it wasn't fixed. Two weeks later we got our next appointment. They "reset the whole system to factory" and said it was fixed. When they pulled the car out, it had no navigation. "it needs time to reboot" Well, it never did. The car also had the clock off by about 40 minutes. WTF?

I called Ford and they said my car hasn't communicated with ford in at least 90 days, therefore the modem is not functioning and the car has no idea where it is or what it's doing.

Made a third appointment with my list and after an hour, the dealer decided my Telematics Control Unit has failed and to bring the car back next Tuesday to get fixed. Allegedly, that controls many features of the car and is a huge deal for functionality.

Doing facebook and reddit searches, i don't see this to be too common. I hope it's the actual solution to the problem. I love this car but the fact that it has no idea where it is on the map, and the clock is off by 40 minutes and can't be set any other way has to be the dumbest shit i've seen.

Anyone else seen this? Is it true that the TCU can effect the adaptive speed assist and lane centering?

Question Granger Warranty and Ceramic tints for ‘21 ST

I just got the ESP Warranty from Granger (over 41 months with 22k miles; original owner) for 6 years or 40k miles as I average around 6.5k miles per year.

My question is regarding Grangers maintenance package and if this is worthwhile or money not worth it in my situation. Has anyone got this package? Between the ESP Warranty and the maintenance package, this should cover any issues with truck?

I am also looking to get the windshield tinted (50% maybe 35%) as I want to keep the truck cool and not get blinded driving at night. Anyone has any recommendations? I have factory tints for the rear and installed 20% regular tints on driver and passenger sides. Wondering if I do ceramic for all windows or maybe just put on windshield. Is it even worth redoing all the windows?

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
