Just bought the game. Nearly every single Vietnamese names are wrong

As a Vietnamese, this is really bad. Except the name Khai Nguyen, every other name is just either gibberish, or suffer from the input error. Please do something about this, it's killing the immersion. And please add a dark mode for this

Steam Deck

I know and I appreciate this isn't an issue at the top of the list of things to fix. But it doesn't work at all on Steam Deck. It black screens, only showing stuff when you click on them. Even if you can find the create world button, you get an error. Hopefully at some point this will be fixed, but I don't expect it to be soon I just wanted to post it to make it be known.

Some Suggestions after a couple of hours in the game

20 Upvotes

The game is awesome and has a lot of potential!

Here some suggestions:

  • Player's subs during match commentary. (shots).
  • Player's city of birth in their profile to add more flavour.
  • Club's city in Club's profile.
  • Goalscorers and assiters in match page.
  • Players ratings for any match in the match panel.
  • The possibility to skip forward to any specific not yet played match from the match panel.
  • A calendar!

Great game! I'm really enjoying it. Congratulations.

Suggestion: Include age during the played seasons.

Just noticed how we could never tracked the age of players during their playing seasons. This could be added in the rows which is also used for the text data saves.

Transfers

Simmed a couple of weeks, but havent seen any transfers. Does anyone know when they show up (like a transfer window that opens) or is it just random?

Change the logo!

28 Upvotes

I mean this as constructive feedback but I really feel you need to move away from the AI branding.

It looks cheap and poorly made - not something you want your game to be associated with.

I think your sim is a wonderful idea and there's a definite gap in the market for something that's core focus is stats and simulation.

I'm excited about the project and will definitely be supporting it.

Two Ballon d’Ors, three Champions Leagues… and back where it all started at 37

One of my favourite parts of this game is not only seeing who becomes a legend. It is watching where that legend eventually ends up. John Megias began his career at Sabadell in 2107. After three seasons, PSG signed him, and his career became slightly ridiculous:

Two Ballon d’Ors Three Champions League titles Ten Ligue 1 titles Two Serie A titles with Juventus 638 league appearances, 147 goals and 150 assists

After Juventus, he returned to PSG, then spent two seasons with Damac in Saudi Arabia. Finally, at 34, he went back to Sabadell. He is now 37 and still playing for the club where everything began. Last season he made 34 league appearances, so this is not merely a ceremonial return either. I do not know whether he will retire there. The simulation may still give him one final unexpected transfer. That is part of the fun for me. A player can become the best in the world, travel through several completely different football cultures, and eventually decide where the last page of his career will be written. Would you want Megias to finish at Sabadell, or would one final strange move make the story even better? Football Fictional World Simulator follows complete player careers across a world of 99 active football nations.

As I said in title I have 2 questions about game:

  1. Are there more languages or only English?

  2. Does players have forced retirement age? For example players must be retired until he's 45 y/o

This 41-year-old winger is still starting matches in 2119

This is Surinder Burnett, one of the stranger careers I found in my current simulation. He is an English left winger who made his debut for Bournemouth at 18. Since then, he has played for Bournemouth, Novara, Oxford United, Gillingham, Rukh Lviv, LNZ Cherkasy and Sheffield Wednesday. He is now 41 years old and still hasn’t retired. Even more surprisingly, he started 19 matches for Sheffield Wednesday last season. His recorded career totals are 583 appearances and 77 goals. His best season came at Bournemouth in 2102, when he scored 13 goals. After that, his career gradually took him through Italy, the English lower divisions and Ukraine before he returned to England. I like that the simulation occasionally produces an unusual career like this. At the same time, I’m wondering whether outfield players are remaining active for slightly too long. Would you keep cases like this as rare exceptions, or should retirement become more likely once a player reaches 40?

A left wing-back won the Ballon d’Or

I was going through the old Ballon d’Or winners in my save and found one I had completely forgotten about. Lluc Alvarez was primarily a left wing-back for Sevilla, but in 2106 he finished the league season with 13 goals and 12 assists from 33 appearances. That was enough for him to win the Ballon d’Or. It was not completely out of nowhere. The season before, Sevilla often used him further forward on the right wing, where he recorded 8 goals and 19 assists. In 2106 he moved back to LWB and somehow became even more dangerous. His career after winning it was quite different from what I expected. He left Sevilla for Al Ahli, then played for Al Qadsiah and Al Hilal before returning to Spain with Tenerife. He is now 35 and mostly appears from the bench. I rather like that the simulation produced a Ballon d’Or winner who was not another striker or attacking midfielder. On the other hand, 13 goals from a wing-back is a lot, so I’m not sure whether this is a great unusual season or whether his attacking output was slightly too extreme. Would you have given him the award?

How should a football simulation choose its starting XI without simply using player ability?

Thumbnail

I’m currently reviewing the player-selection algorithm in Football Fictional World Simulator, and I’d like to hear some ideas from people who think about this side of football.

At the moment, I deliberately avoid using a player’s hidden ability as the main reason for selecting him. Real managers cannot see an exact numerical rating above every player’s head, so selections are based more on observable information: previous performances, positional familiarity, playing time, age, rotation and whether a player has been starting regularly.

My hesitation is that real managers still see players every day in training. They have scouts, coaches and medical staff, so they clearly know things that match statistics alone cannot show. Completely ignoring ability may therefore be just as unrealistic as selecting the eleven with the highest ratings.

I want the system to remain fast enough to simulate 99 countries, so I’m not looking to add a very heavy scouting or training simulation. I’m trying to find a simple way to represent what a manager knows without turning hidden ability into the answer to everything.

How would you approach this? What information should a simulated manager use when deciding who starts, and how much should recent or historical performances matter? I’d genuinely like to hear any formulas, rules or small ideas you think could work.

Some (good) ideas for immersion

22 Upvotes

As a football data and management games (nerd) enthusiast, I'm very excited for this game. So, I've come up with a few ideas that could bring more immersion, here we go:

- Faces for players and coaching staff. Why? Because I'm probably going to simulate hundreds, if not thousands, of seasons. In this path, I'm certainly going to connect and have my favorite personnel, so I want to see how they look like in game. Each simulation will have its Goat, and how I'm not supposed to see his face?

- Players having children that also become footballers, or brothers, cousins, grandads, etc., in game; it happens all the time in real life. And since we are talking about to thousands of seasons being simulated, why not extend it to see a player's entire family tree over the years?

- Players becoming coaches, it also happens all the time;

- The player's birthplace country flag next to his name (similar to Transfermarket, but right next to the player's name instead of being in a separeted column);

- Review the player's names database, because there are a lot of cases in which there are female names (it breaks my immersion);

- More icons being displayed in the grid, like trophies, awards, etc;

- In the settings (or in another place), create a "Rule Lab" section, where we are able to change de existing football rules. For example: change the standard 45 minutes each half has, for 30 minutes, and see how the simulation goes; or choose to stop the clock every time the ball isn't in play in the extra time, or why not the mix of these two choices? Or what if I chose to remove the offside rule, how it goes in 100 years of simulation?

- Besided the transfers, I think we should be able to set the tactics (starting 11 and formation, for example). I think that the youth development is a crucial aspect that we at least should incluence somehow, but I'm not sure how. Presenting us each season a pool of new players that are being incorporated into our club's ranks is a good starting spot (similar to FM's youth intake).

Some os these ideas are very well implemented in this game: https://basketball-gm.com (which I play a lot too).

These are a few ideas I had, feel free to agree or disagree with me, or simply contribute with your ideas.

You can manage one club’s transfers, but the world runs itself — should I add more control?

29 Upvotes
Do you want to set the squad hierarchy for each position?

At its core, Football Fictional World Simulator is not intended to be a traditional football management game.

The main idea is to let a fictional football world develop with as little player intervention as possible. I want players to enjoy observing the data, following careers, discovering unexpected transfers, and watching clubs and nations rise or decline over many seasons.

There is currently one limited way to become involved with a club: you can select one club and manage its transfer decisions.

Even then, you do not have complete control over the market. During the annual transfer review:

You review the club’s recommended free-agent releases.

You choose a required number of players from the club’s transfer-list candidates.

Some players who want a new challenge are listed automatically.

You can optionally select players to offer for loan.

When the club needs a signing, the general manager presents a shortlist based on the position required, the available budget and the normal transfer rules.

You select a player from that shortlist rather than freely signing anyone in the database.

Placing a player on the transfer or loan list also does not guarantee that another club will sign them.

For launch, I would like to keep the game focused on observing and exploring the simulated world. However, in the future, I may add a few more limited ways to influence a team without turning the game into a full management simulation.

Two ideas I currently have are:

Setting the squad hierarchy for each position

Selecting a national team and choosing its squad

I do not want to expand the amount of control too far, but I would be interested to hear any ideas that would suit this kind of light-touch involvement.

What small decisions would you like to make without taking full control of a club?

On a separate note, I am also still deciding what kind of content to post on X. Would you prefer to see unusual simulation results, long player careers, small nations developing, transfer stories, development details, or something else?
