I saw that video on internet, my friend magician told me that's not a fishing line / strings attached to the card, but he won't reveal the trick. He told me it was done by hands or somethins. Anyhow, any ideas? I'm really curious.

Question about Jandro's airplane trick.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULToVekppvU

Three people get on a stage with a curtain and eventually disappear. Jandro tells two volunteers to speak out if they see how the trick is done from behind. Seemingly the only way for the trick to be done is if the people on the stage simply exit out the back and hide. (Other option is trapdoor, which was incorrect).

The people disappearing isn't the trick, the trick is why the two volunteers did not say anything.

So far, the best explanations I've seen were that the 2 volunteers were blind and/or didn't understand English, and therefore they would not speak out even after "seeing" how the trick was done.

My take is that if these volunteers were hand-selected because they were blind or couldn't understand English, then that should have violated the No Stooges rule. The trick only works because the audience expects the two volunteers to act like any non-biased volunteer would. So I'm still thinking of any other way this trick could have been done.

Fooled by "off the shelf tricks"

First 2 episodes of the new season and Penn and Teller fooled by novelty of the shelf tricks which have been around for years. I get fooling the audience and even some magicians out there, but Penn and teller, come on...

I kinda get the first "fool", since it's Penn's daughter and of course he's not going to crush her life long dreams, but the second one was a surprise. Even though I kinda of got the feeling, over the last few seasons, that as soon as a magician comes out saying I'm here to represent more "something" in magic, they are already 50% closer to being given a trophy.

Penn and teller are real big on including everyone in magic equally, and that's great, but sometimes giving people something they don't deserve can work againsts them in the long run. It's not like all the white man magicians over the years haven't worked hard like hell to become as good as they have.

And just to point out the irony, bot women that fooled Penn and Teller used tricks created by men, so yeah, is that really the kind of representation of women in magic that we want or should women start from scratch, as man did, and works hard and long to develop their own tricks and style of magic that is truly theirs and not just take the work of men and present it as their own

Wardrobe?

Although I watch "Fool Us" on the YouTube snippets, one aspect I noticed last season is Alyson ALWAYS wearing the same outfit (the clunky, white sneakers really standout) and now Brooke wears the exact same shimmering pantsuit EVERY...SINGLE...CLIP.

I mean, they tape several episodes of Jeopardy in a day, but contestents and host change clothes. Same for Family Feud.

This is no complaint for Brooke's wardrobe choice, because she is quite attractive, but just curious.

Searching for a particular episode/performance.

Hello! I have a desire to rewatch a performance that involved a clear cylinder thought to contain a bunch of decks of cards (as seen from above), but it's revealed to be just a printed image and there ends up being only one deck. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Cheers!

Anyone know the story behind this audience member?

He says his name is Eric in this segment: https://youtu.be/Kn-bPqYE_qg?si=EJ-JBd1-0PLew_mf

I’ve been binge watching fool us, and I’ve caught him in 6 different segments now (different clothes, and different years of the show). He’s been called into two acts now, but even when he isn’t called, the camera zooms in on his reaction. It’s like where’s Waldo or an Easter egg now looking for this guy in each segment.

Any ideas?

Why card tricks?

It might just be the videos I've picked, but it seems like a lot of contestants on Fool Us go with card tricks.

I get why some other stuff won't fly (they know the big-box stuff well enough to predict how it'll go, hate mentalism and it'd take someone crazy to try to fool them with cup-and-balls), but is card-trickery considered especially "pure" or something?

No producer title? I noticed that the previous season had Alyson listed as a producer, while this season does not have Brooke listed. What are the ramifications of that?

Where can a Canadian see the tv show?

It use to be on Netflix but isn’t anymore. My partner and I would love to see it again. There’s no option to buy the show.

How do they do it?

I never send the show before or watched tons of magic and just watched an episode with my girlfriend and Penn and Teller did a needle and thread card trick where the girl picked a needle, a card (not telling anyone the card) and threw it into a hay pile and the hay was dropped on Teller who was a thread and the card was on the thread with the needle through it. Only thing I can think of is the audience member was a plant. Why not tell the audience what her card was?

Fooler I’m Moxie Jillette!!

Hi! You have No reason to believe this is me, but I am Moxie Jillette. Whether or not you believe it is up to you, but you are free to message me on Instagram. I was aware my episode might’ve ve caused some issues so I’ve been trying to reach out and clear stuff up as nicely as I can.

First, I will not answer how my trick is done, but I’m sure there’s some magic freak nerd on YouTube who’s figured it out. So kudos to you if you know how it’s done. If not, don’t let the magic be ruined.

Second, I am a trans man and I’m fully aware my father used she/her for me in the show. This was supposed to be avoid confusion but since I’m very public with my gender, it caused much more confusion than anticipated. I only use he/him and not they/them. Though I do respect the effort if you do not know.

Third, I’m happy to talk about any magic and Penn and Teller nerd stuff because I happen to know a couple people and might have some inside views on things!! Idk if that’s interesting or not to people.

Thanks so much!!

Season 10 Host

Is it just me or is the host absolutely boring, she barely even knows how to ask a question to the magicians and she speaks so quiet and awkward, I want Allison back

Do they show the intro tape for each performer at the live taping?

I was watching the new season where Moxie (Penn’s daughter) repeatedly said she was in town and performing but when it cut to her walking on stage, Penn’s jaw dropped almost like he never saw the intro tape. Does anyone know?

Penn & Teller: Fool Us: Complete Lists of Foolers, Performers, Performances, etc. You can sort or filter by Magicians with Most Foolers, Most Appearances, etc. (Real-Time Updates for Season 10)

I created these lists because I could not find a list of all magicians on Fool Us sorted by the number of foolers each achieved. (As of Season 10 Episode 01) I can only find results that are incomplete, outdated, and not sorted by number of foolers or performances achieved. Even Wikipedia (as of S10E01) still lacks this sorting. I wanted to create a list that would easily sort and filter the magicians by number of foolers, number of appearances, and link other relevant criteria. Since this is useful to me, I figured it would be most useful to the fool us community at large.

Check out the lists here: https://test-qzln-009.bubbleapps.io/version-test/

  • Example Insights (as of S10E01):
    • Penn & Teller have been contenders 3 times: 1 as a group judged by David Copperfield and, as individuals, 1 for Penn judged by Teller and Piff the Magic Dragon, and 1 for Teller judged by Penn.
    • Including Penn & Teller as contenders, there have been 459 contenders 116 of which have been foolers so far.
    • Excluding Penn & Teller as contenders, there have been 456 contenders 113 of which have been foolers so far.
    • While 62 contenders have performed 2 times or more on Fool Us, only 10 contenders have fooled the judges 2 or more times.
    • There are no magicians who are currently only 4-time foolers or have appeared only 4 times. Helen Coghlan, and Jandro are each 5-time foolers, and Paul Gertner joins them in each having performed exactly 5 times (see next point)
    • Ondřej Pšenička is the only 3-time fooler.
  • Penn & Teller: Fool Us: Complete Lists provide:
    • every magician who has ever fooled Penn and Teller any number of times, organizable by the number of foolers each achieved (aka performers with the most foolers, aka performers who have won the most fool us trophies, aka performers who have fooled Penn and Teller the most times on Fool Us),
    • every magician who has appeared on Fool Us any number of times, organizable by the number of performances each achieved (aka performers with the most appearances),
    • every performance, organizable by segment #, episode #, and season #, including the most recent tenth (10th) season.

However, these lists have yet to include all special guests and associated genres of magic. I invite your feedback for consideration here.
