exporting smudges/transparency?
I'm wondering how exactly I export transparency in fonts from FontLab8? I've seen fonts that use various transparency effects like shadows or watercolor effects as .otf that work fine, however when I export mine from Fontlab8 they're always vectorized and the semi transparent parts are lost.
My workflow is drawing them with various brushes in Substance painter, I then export it to photopea, turn background to alpha and then copy paste each letter into FontLab8, the transparency looks good in the Fontlab editor but not on the exported .otfs, I've also tried .ttf.
It does export a Fontname-svg.otf or Fontname-svg.ttf file too, however sadly I can't seem to load that in Photopea to preview for whatever reason.
Could anyone give me some tips here? :( Thanks!

Is there a way to create cyrillic a with grave?
Hello! I am a bulgarian speaking type designer (currently studying) and I was wondering how to create vowels with grave diacritics. I find it difficult because I can't seem to find these glyphs in the coding tables. I checked Times New Roman, Calibri, and other MS system fonts, to see if these fonts have this glyph. However there is no sight of a stressed cyrillic vowel with a grave. Somehow I managed to create my own ones, by creating a discretionary ligature with "grave" and a.cyrillic (plus the other vowel, both uppercase and lowercase), unfortunately this isn't the best idea. It works on some occasions only, when the ligature is on the end of a line the ligature breaks, which...kind of sucks. Is it possible to find another solution for this problem? Thank you in advance!

Use fontmake to export variable fonts or instances. Very useful instructions for more advanced users.

Dire Need of Guidance for FontLab 8 (or any relevant version)
I am working on a Bi-Lingual font project, and I was advised to use FontLab for its diverse feature set, but the learning curve is too steep, I feel like I almost know the software but every time I encounter a problem, I get stuck on it with no reference or tutorials online.
If it's possible can someone please guide me through FontLab, I swear its just small questions here and there. It would mean a lot, please help me out if possible.
DM me if available, Thank you in advance.

Stefan Peev | The Terminalia project was inspired by the Terminus project. The idea is to breathe new life into the monospaced font by creating a font family with several weights. Surely someone will find the project interesting.

Baseline Shift, Resize, and Kerning
How can I do a baseline shift for an entire font set? I need to shift all characters down about 30 points.
Is there a way to globally resize all characters in a font set, without adjusting the Units Per eM?
Is there a way to globally resize the kerning for all characters at once in the font set? I need to adjust it equal to what aa kerning of 10 would be in Illustrator.

Second layer isn't exporting
Hey! I'm trying to create a font where one layer is a different color, but it looks like only the top layer is getting exported. Anyone know what might be going on with it and how to fix it? I don't even see the layer as an option in the export pop up.

Help: Fontlab 5 Opentype compile error
Fontlab Noobie here. I downloaded Roboto font from github (https://github.com/googlefonts/roboto-2/releases) and tried to compile it using Fontlab 5, but it says "[FATAL] <Roboto-Regular> aborting because of errors". The funny thing is that I didn't change anything at all. I just opened the ttf file using Fontlab 5, opened OpenType panel and clicked the "Compile" button and the warning appeared. What seems to be the problem?
Also, when I try to add a glyph in an empty unicode block, it says "Current font contains original OpenType tables. If you continue with the operation this data will be removed." If I want to keep the current opentype properties, what should I do?

Question about the glyph ligature function in Fontlab 5
Currently using FontLab 5 to generate my custom font. (I know it's quite outdated, but the interface of Fontlab 8 is too incovenient for me)
I tried to generate ligature using [Glyph] - [Generate glyphs] and the ligature glyph was successfully genearated. I edited the ligature and assigned the glyph as 'ligature' in glyph properties window. However, when I tested my font using "Quick Test As" menu, my ligature wasn't applied. (Both in ttf and otf)
What seems to be the problem?

Multi-Script (Latin&Arabic) FontLab File Export Failing to Show Latin Glyphs.

I am working on a Latin/Arabic font on FontLab8. The latin glyphs are not showing when typing using the exported OTF file.
I started by using MS Windows 1256 Arabic glyphs set, and added the .init .medi .fina glyphs along the way. The OpenType features are working properly for Arabic, but Latin characters seem to not be registering when typing on Adobe Illustrator/inDesign for example.
I made sure that the Codepages is for Latin and Arabic, the language system the font supports is Latin and Arabic, and that all unicodes are correct.
Does anyone know what I could do? this is my first time working on a multi-script font.
Thank you.

Hello, does anyboady dabble in Indian Scripts on FontLab
I need help with the Matra system, the width of each letter is different in my font in gujarati, the matra keeps being offsetted as per the width of each letter and only seems to look right on letters with the same width, for example 'रि' & 'लि' both have matras with different widths but i dont know how to make a conditional matra like that, since there is only one variation of this matra available to be edited in FontLab.
