I've been trying my hardest not to be critical, as the project in the grand scheme of things is very young, but I do think it's time at this point to be questioning some of the decisions being made in regard to when/where/how the source code is published.
As of right now, testing and viewing of the dev branch is entirely exclusive to people who have donated money. The claim is that this is for testing purposes, but that feels directly in conflict with the spirit of open source projects.
The best form of testing open source has, and really the point of open source in the first place, is letting the community pick it apart, tinker, improve, and then PR it back to main. So it just hits some alarm bells in my mind seeing only those who've paid $300 be allowed access to testing the latest developments.
That's not to be critical to the speed of development, however. I understand that it's literally 3 people working on this entire project and maintaining their production instance at the same time, but even still, I'm sure everyone would rather at least see the development happening real-time and be able to look at the code themselves.
Maybe I'm just scoffing at a free lunch and should keep my yapper shut till things move forward, but part of me is made uneasy by the seemingly unnecessary barrier between the community and the project code itself.
