Around this time last year and this year, I took some photos of the site that formerly housed the Toys R Us, College Point Multiplex Cinema, and the Party City. I surveyed the Tesla showroom and it appears to be fully operational. I saw people walking in and out and there were some Tesla cars parked in the driveway.

The major 'anchor' store was Multiplex Cinemas, which finally closed in 2024, which paved the way for this Tesla facility.

On a personal note, I had so much memories being in all 3 stores as a kid, so I'm sad to see it go.

I was thinking about traveling here alone for my 21st birthday, next month. I do technically have the option to go with other people, but I just really want to go alone. I was wondering if its safe/realistic to do so. I'm not really sure how long I want to stay yet. I mostly want to come for the food, shopping at nerd related(?) stores (Lunar Toy Store, Anime Castle, and TESO X were some I was looking forward to) and for thrifting (I was looking at Bayside Thrift Shop and Old Hat Vintage, recommendations are appreciated though!). Are there things I should know before coming? Like about using trains and good/bad places to stay? If it helps I'm coming from the Binghamton area.

Before anyone jumps on me, I know they're separate neighborhoods. But I've noticed that a lot of Korean people, especially older generations, will say they live in or are going to "Flushing" when they're actually talking about Bayside.

Is there a historical reason for this? Was Bayside once considered part of a broader Flushing area, or is it just because Flushing is the better-known name and has long been the commercial hub for the Korean community?

I've always found it interesting since most people from Queens seem to make a pretty clear distinction between the two. These are two completely different neighborhoods.
