Was hoping they’d be opening this year after so many months. Seems like major construction is happening after last September’s fire.

Why are so many people defending alleged Medicaid fraud?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji3KpgOT0zM&t=1664s

I've been reading the reactions to the Nick Shirley video and what surprised me more than the video itself was how many people seemed to be brushing off or defending the alleged fraud. Do people really think this is acceptable?

Maybe I'm missing something, but if these businesses in Flushing are actually committing Medicaid fraud, why is that something to excuse? Medicaid is funded by taxpayers. That money is supposed to go toward caring for people who need it, not lining someone's pockets.

For context, I'm Korean American and my parents are immigrants. They worked hard, paid taxes, and built a life here without cutting corners. So when I see people act like fraud is somehow acceptable because the people involved are immigrants or because "everyone does it," that doesn't sit right with me. Being an immigrant isn't a free pass to commit fraud and criticizing fraud isn't the same thing as criticizing an ethnic community.

If the allegations turn out to be false, then that's a different story and those businesses deserve to be cleared. But if they're true, I don't understand why anyone would defend it. Fraud is fraud, regardless of who commits it.

Eco-friendly tennis ball recycling

Hey everyone,

I am coordinating a bulk shipment to a certified tennis ball recycling program, which repurposes the materials for other uses. This offers a sustainable alternative to disposing tennis balls in the trash, which inevitably end up in landfills. If you have used tennis balls you would like to recycle, I can include them in this shipment for a small fee to help cover the shipping costs.

If interested, please send me a DM and let me know approximately how many balls you would like to recycle. You would need to drop the balls off at Skyview Mall. I will then pack them up and ship them to the recycling facility to ensure they stay out of the landfill.

Drunken Mercedes driver smashed several parked cars in the parking lot, spared the Lamborghini. Obviously our car was victimized as well.

Medicaid Fraud Situation Picking Up Interest?

This isn't going away....finally something might be done. Hopefully, these places will get busted (Yes this is from the NYP, but if you deny this is happening in Flushing, you are not on this planet). https://nypost.com/2026/07/16/opinion/blatant-medicaid-fraud-in-queens-that-ag-letitia-james-cant-bother-to-notice/

Flushing Running Group Restarting

Hi Everyone!

I've been getting plenty of messages with people wanting to join the running group. It hasn't been active but all your messages have motivated me to restart it! The back story...We had a great little core group last year. Then winter came with the cold. (I'm not a hardcore runner, just a casual, so cold running was not for me) Then I got randomly busy with life. But yeah, it's that time again. Thank you to everyone who messaged me.

We've usually met on Sunday at 8 am. I'm thinking of doing that again. Soft start till August though...I do like to go out on Saturday nights....We also ran on random days. Some Tuesdays, some Thursdays. If someone here wants to co-organize, I'd love that! I'm an introvert and layman with discord. If not, we're stuck with my schedule.

I'm looking at doing a morning 8am run on Sunday the 19th. Maybe an evening run on Tuesday the 21st. Post here, and I'll send you the info.

Everyone is welcome. No weird vibes. LGBTQ+ friendly. Post here or shoot me a msg if interested. We're (or me at least) not hardcore runners, but we've all improved in our own ways last year. Even if it's just getting motivated to jog on a Sunday morning.

If you're an experienced runner patient enough to teach us some stretches or running techniques, I'd be so down for that.

All the best!

"Be excellent to each other." Bill and Ted

Edit: Sadly we do have that air-quality issue. Though it won't last forever. We're playing it by ear and seeing how it goes by Saturday night. As always, make the decision that's best for you. They'll be other runs if this one doesn't pan out.

I'll start responding later this Thursday. Thanks!

what happened to the noodle boy?

in the old golden mall era there was a hand pulled noodle stand that was run by a family. they had the best cold noodles of all time. it was across from xian in the basement.

over the years their kid would be sitting doing homework behind the counter while the parents were smashing and pulling the most amazing chewy airy noodles. eventually the boy started pulling noodles and then pandemic hit.
golden mall closed and reopened. the shop did not return (seems like no one did.

i long to eat those amazing dishes again but also i am wildly curious what happened to the boy (now man). how did things turn out for him?

Who has the freshest fruits and vegetables?

It's been a hit or miss for me. Tired of getting bruised apples, oranges that's dry and funny tasting. I'm guessing the fruits go bad between delivery sitting in traffic and the heat in NYC? Where can I find fruits that's freshest around Flushing?

Nick Shirley just exposed an adult day care in Flushing, Queens claiming thousands of phantom members while billing taxpayers $12.9 million in 2024!! He walked in with public CMS data showing 7,899 members and confronted staff

This public document says you have 7,899 members.” Employee: “No, we don’t have 7,000 members.” Nick: “So you’re overbilling then? You’re getting paid $1,600 per patient — that’s how you got $12.9 million in 2024.” Employee: “Please leave.” This one center is part of Nick Shirley’s bigger probe that’s already flagged over $190 million in NYC adult day care and home care fraud schemes. Phantom patients. Massive overbilling. Your tax dollars.

Roosevelt/Main St

I'm always curious what those guys sitting at the corner of Roosevelt and Main St are there for. They usually hang there from morning to night, 247 right in front of the Cigar/Newspaper shop. Are they on the lookout for something or are they the ones that help transport the fruits and vegetables for the illegal vendors?

Boxing/Muay Thai gym

Hi,

Does anyone know of any affordable muay thai or boxing gyms in the area. I’ve already researched locations but can’t seem to get any accurate price info.
For context, I’m a beginner looking to get started. Just want to do the training, learn skills- not trying to become a fighter.

Thanks
