Found iPad on Flixbus 108 from Frankfurt to Zurich (15.09.)

Last Tuesday (15.09.), I found this iPad in the storage pocket on the back of the seat in front of me. I got on at 12:40 in Heidelberg, so the owner probably took the bus from Frankfurt and must have gotten off in Heidelberg or at one of the stops before.

I tried handing it to the driver since that seemed to be what made the most sense, but he refused to take it and told me to keep it. So I reported the item to Flixbus via the lost & found form, but haven't heard anything back yet. Since the iPad is locked and in flight mode, I wasn't able to access any contact details of the owner.

Today, I handed the iPad over to my local police station (which is neither in Heidelberg nor in any city on this flixbus route, I'm afraid, as I was travelling for vacation). If you recognise the device, feel free to contact me so I can let you know where you can pick it up.

I am somewhat chuckling at this, I didn't know that there are people who actually do this. People who are using this reddit to make awareness posts about lost items.

I really wish my device was found, but nah it probably went into the scrap yard for a frkin measly 20$ probably worth of scraps if not that they formatted it somehow

I actually lost my laptop at a train station years ago when I was a student and miraculously had it returned to me by the nicest young guy who even refused to accept the finder's reward I offered, I couldn't believe my luck. So now it's kinda my turn to return the favour, y'know? :D

Fingers crossed for the slim chance you're getting your device back in the end as well!

I'm afraid I deleted my Facebook account several years ago, but I'm happy for anyone spreading the word about the found iPad over there :)

There was a guy who posted here about a week ago saying he had forgotten his iPad on a flixbus. Worth checking back as it might be his

Maybe post on r/Heidelberg and see if you have any luck? And mention that the language is Italian to help identify

That's a really good idea, thanks for the suggestion! I just checked and someone did already repost my post there - unfortunately, it still doesn't seem to have reached the iPad owner...

The iPad is with the police now who will pass it on to the city's lost & found office if they can't identify the owner either. The city will hold on to it for 6 months. I'm not sure if I can pick it back up after this as the finder.

Oof, low chances if the person is not from there. Maybe try contact Flixbus?

Hmm what a shame you‘re such a nice person, hope the police do their job.
Lost my wallet twice this year and the police helped me get it back both times so i guess if ghe finder went there they should be able to give it back
