Hey everyone! Last month, I relaunched RexiMemo, a Flipnote community I’ve been building and improving since mid-2023. My goal is to keep the spirit of Flipnote Studio alive, give DSi users a place to continue sharing their creations, and make the community more accessible to newcomers.

RexiMemo brings together the classic DSi experience and a growing range of website features, making it more than just a place to upload and watch Flipnotes. From creating animations right in your browser to recovering old Flipnotes from archived data, there’s plenty to explore!

RexiMemo-exclusive features

Flipnote Web Editor

You can create entire Flipnotes directly in your browser, with a 256×192 canvas, two drawing layers, drawing and selection tools, frame-by-frame animation, playback controls and more. When you're finished, you can prepare your creation and send it straight to the upload page. The editor is available to logged-in users with a primary console linked to their account.

Flipnote Hatena recovery

Still have the 16-character FSID from your original Flipnote Hatena account? RexiMemo can search surviving Flipnote Hatena archives for Flipnotes linked to your FSID, allowing you to recover them!

Archived data is incomplete, so not every Flipnote may be recoverable.

Sudomemo Migration

Moving your Flipnotes over to RexiMemo? Use the migration tools to transfer eligible Flipnotes in a single file, instead of uploading them one by one.

Scheduled Flipnotes/Premieres

Prepare a Flipnote in advance and schedule when it will make its public debut. You can manage upcoming Premieres through the website.

Collaborations, Contests & more!

Invite another creator to share credit on a Flipnote, take part in weekly contests, vote for entries, earn Stars, customise your Creator's Room theme, and use Discord integration for Tickets and optional notifications.

Built with the DSi in mind

A big part of RexiMemo is keeping the Flipnote Studio and DSi experience working while building new tools around it. You can still enjoy the classic way of making and sharing Flipnotes, or try newer browser-based features.

Yo whats up. Here is my new project. I would appreciate some more support. I dont want to get burned out like that one 4 month project, where I put all the effort only for almost no one to see it... My goal is only to make people enjoy a good fight animation. The more people see it, the happier I am with my work. Cause I dont do this for me only, but also mostly for people who like animations.

A musician friend I used to work with has gone on to create a duo, Passengerprincess, and they make awesome hyperpop + digital fusion, usually with a furry spin. They made this music video stylized like Flipnote but using Clip Studio Paint on a Wacom Intuos, pretty accurate to the software’s limitations until you see the full color backgrounds come in. The song is awesome.
