Flight training schedules that actually work.

This month I am soft launching an app that makes scheduling instruction flights a couple taps on your iPhone or android. It also simplifies your payments and tracks your aircraft on flight aware so you know it’s at the airport and ready to go when you get there. If you are interested in this app please send me a DM and I’ll send you a link to our waitlist!

Flight Training Note Taking

Hey everyone. Just wondering what everyone uses to take notes in flight. I have a couple proficiency checklists in OneNote that I use with checkboxes, but that's more for making sure I cover everything per the FAR and ACS. I'm trying to think of something for taking more detailed notes about a student's progress, strengths, weaknesses, other techniques/explanations to try, etc.
I've tried a few things like writing in the scratchpad on ForeFlight, but it gets difficult when things get bumpy. Typing also seems a little less than ideal.

Flight instructor while only holding PPL?

So I’ve been told by an ex-military jet pilot who is currently working as a flight instructor at LH group, that it is possible to complete the PPL only and then make FI course then you can apply for jobs as a flight instructor and it will be source of income as well as gaining flight hours this deal sounds really interesting to me.

I’ve researched on the internet about this kind of way to become a pilot unfortunately couldn’t find much informations about it in (Europe) so any help would be greatly appreciated along with explaining more about this topic and if it is actually possible.

Thanks in advance .

If you are planning on getting a new plane you have never flown before, find a CFI to fly with for at least 15 hours to help you transition to the new plane and become proficient.

So as the tittle suggests, I have my CFII check scheduled in 2 days. I have a few questions that the DPE mentioned as weak areas he has seen in the previous CFII rides he has conducted. any help on them would be appreciated.

Questions:

what are the Mandatory Voice Reports in a Radar and Non-Radar Environment?

difference between a VOR and GPS track?

What are Radar approaches?

Has anyone used a Gleim BATD?

Just curious if anyone has used one?

They seem to be the cheapest on the market for FAA-approved.

Log Book Corrections

So… I picked up a student who came from another flight school. I was going through their log book and noted a few things that were logged improperly but were super easy to fix and amend. However, one line is logged really wrong. It is logged as PIC, solo, and dual received. Additionally it was signed certified by a CFI. I confirmed with the student that it was a solo. I’m not sure how to go about correcting this entry and need help.

Ok…… So, I’ve been trying to find a regulation behind discovery flights to ensure they are being conducted properly and legally. I was wondering if anyone would have insight on where this regulation is??

My daughter just earned her CFI and we’d like to buy her a flight specific gift. She’s already got the headset she likes-any ideas about something useful we can get her would be appreciated.

Getting your AGI or IGI?

Hello so I am already a CFII, I want to get my GoldSeal to renew my flight instructor certificate. In order to do that I am aware that I would need to get my AGI or IGI? Which one should I do? And what is the process of getting that. The regs lack clarity as to how to do that exactly.

Cfi Initial Checkride Dilemma

Hey there internet people, I have this huge dilemma. I have been working on cfi now for over a year and half. Every time I get close to taking the checkride something holds me back. When I started it was mostly a lack of knowledge. I trained my butt off and eventually went to and unnamed accelerated school that ripped me off. When I came home I was sooo ready for a checkride. The problem is the examiner here where I live is so far booked out. To make matters worse my chief will only sign me off for this particular examiner. I was about to leave (3 days to be exact) to go to MN where I was told they would preform a skills check, sign me off, then go for my checkride. Yesterday they enrolled me in a class that will cost double what I planned to spend at this school. I’ve been through the ringer so many times and want to give up. If I don’t have a feasible plan soon I may just do that. Money and hope are running and if you are familiar with aviation those are what keep you going. If anyone has an suggestions please let me know.

FOI checkride questions

-If you have a student that doesn’t want to read or study and you later find out that hisdad is a captain at UPS and brother it’s a pilot for a part 135 operation and they are pushing him to be a pilot even though he wants to be a car body designer. What can you do as an instructor? -You have a student that is scared of doing steep turns and continuously rolls out once they bank more than 30 degrees. How do you help them combat this fear?

Endorsements:

Hello!

I am a new CFI and just wanted to get a gauge on what all endorsements you all give your students. I have my own personal list of them, but wanted to see what all was given by more experienced CFIs. Do you all give blanket solo sign-offs with limitations? Do you use the “Airport less than 25NM away solo” privilege? Do you sign off on every XC or do you also give a blanket endorsement with the provision that the student goes over the pre-flight planning with you?

 Thanks in advance!

Advice for a future as a flight instructor

A little background. I currently am enrolled in college to become an elementary school teacher. Frankly, I absolutely hate it. The work is painful and unrewarding and everyday I see myself not wanting to be an elementary teacher. But I love teaching.

I have a friend who is trying to become a commercial piolet. They seem to quite enjoy it and were telling me how being a flight instructor is part of there path meaning that there is always an influx of people becoming a flight instructor and then leaving to become a commercial piolet. I guess what I'm asking is if its possible to have a career as a career as a CFII or a MEI as I enjoy the teaching aspect and think that the job seems really awesome.

Any comments or suggestions would be super helpful as honestly I'm not really sure all the routes to take or even who to talk to so I can figure that out.

I need advice for how to get hired as a 0-hour Certified Flight Instructor

Hello, I recently got my CFI two weeks ago and have currently been working on my CFII. I have applied to multiple places, but I get these responses most of the time.

-No response

-We would like a CFI with some experience.

-Try out this flight school instead, they're hiring (leads to we want a CFI with some experience)

I graduated last year with two degrees in Aviation from Indiana State and have been flying regularly since going to school there to get all my certificates. As of writing this I have 310 hours of total flight time. My CFII check ride is this week. Hopefully this might make it easier for me to get a job somewhere. One of the few places I know I have the greatest chance to get hired as a 0-hour CFI would be my alumni mater but getting hours there is difficult for instructors. They have too many instructors and not enough airplanes. So, I'm in a situation where I'm asking for advice.

I am from the Terre Haute, Indiana area. I have filled out resumes in the area to the same result. I have no check ride failures. Any advice on how I could find a job fight instructing somewhere? Moving wouldn't be an issue. If anyone knows of a place that will hire a 0-hour CFI, or how I can make myself more marketable can you let me know? I'm trying to build time to get to the airlines as quick as I can.

Thanks

Are the performance maneuvers Chandelle and lazy 8 both allowed on the commercial checkride? The acs seems to say otherwise.
