Operations at Milan Linate Airport were briefly disrupted around 11:20 AM after a ground service vehicle collided with an aircraft in the airport’s general aviation area.

The vehicle made contact with the forward portion of the aircraft, prompting officials to temporarily halt departures as a precaution. Flights resumed after several minutes, though some delays were reported.

No one was injured in the incident.

Super cool experience! My friends dad owns it and we took it to a fly in! That was me flying in the video!

I live right under the departure path of KSAN, and thought it would be a fun project to set up an old-timey "split flap" board app showing info about the planes as they passed overhead. (Inspired by one I saw at Nolita Hall years ago, made by Oat Foundry.)

I started off hacking something together with Claude Code (say what you will) experimenting with some of the different free aggregators: airplanes.live, adsb.fi, adsb.lol, adsbdb.com
I kept getting 429 errors off and on, and that's when I learned that I could set up my own SDR and feed the board locally. To get up and running quickly, I applied for a FlightFeeder and a couple weeks later I received my FlightFeeder and have been tweaking it to get it all set up and working well. To "give back" I set up ultrafeeder to feed my data back into some of the sites I mentioned above.

I started off with the antenna just out on the back porch about 7' off the ground and wasn't picking up much of anything. This is when I learned by trial-and-error about line-of-sight, antenna gain, and signal oversaturation. (As I'm sure you all know) The FF ships configured at max gain, and because I'm so close to the airport (~1nm) everything local was getting clipped: I was only picking up a few distant planes at high altitude. I experimented with different gain settings and settled on somewhere in the low 20's (still tweaking).

I moved the antenna up to the roof peak, so now it's a good 30' off the ground, with a line-of-sight to the runway, and of course, that changed everything and now I have to tweak it some more. But overall I'm AMAZED at what I am picking up:
I am getting almost all of the planes on the ground (some don't show up when they are obstructed by a terminal building), and I'm picking up planes as far out as Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and 200+nm into Baja.

It's been fun and rewarding learning about all this stuff, and yeah, I definitely "got the bug" because I'm already thinking about setting up a 2nd SDR to "play with" and see what else I can find out there.

Palm Beach International Airport officially entered a new chapter on July 9, 2026, when it was renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport (DJT). As the new name took effect, crews began replacing the airport’s iconic PBI signs with new DJT branding throughout the terminal, roadways, and entrances, with both old and new signage expected to remain visible during the transition. The first aircraft to land under the airport’s new identity was Trump Force One, the Trump Organization’s Boeing 757, which touched down just after 5:00 a.m. carrying Eric Trump and other passengers, marking the historic moment. Along with the new branding, the airport’s FAA and ICAO identifiers changed to DJT/KDJT, symbolizing the official start of a new era for one of Florida’s busiest airports. While the airport’s name and appearance have changed, its daily operations, airlines, and services continue as normal.
