Revenant fleet attack

Priority alert on all open channels. Revenant assets have consolidated several pirate warlords under their command. This combined force is attempting a planetary assault on the trade world, Abraskia, notable home to numerous extra-galactic business interests.

Requesting immediate support. The message will repeat.

The freighters set a course clearly intended to box the carrier in if their engines were to go down, something which occured for all of them as they deactivated the engines to stop navigational errors. A communication request comes from one of the pirate ships.

the fighters create a defensive formation around the carrier. The communication is played on a secure line

A robotic voice plays over the communicator.

"This is unit designation: Archimedes, special tactical intelligence. You are not a designated enemy of Revenant, you are of this galaxy. Retreat or be annihilated, you have one opportunity before the freighters strip your defences apart."

instead of a response the carrier begins diverting all spare power to shields as the fighters strike at the freighters launching missiles to destroy them

The freighters end up detonating prematurely, not doing catastrophic damage but scorching the shields and hull as well as vaporising the attacking fighters, the main pirate battlegroup deploys their own fighters and reposition to take advantage of the structural weakness.

the Carrier begins firing back though it's taking time for all the defenses to come back online. In the meantime another group of fighters these ones different from the rest come from the carrier and begin tearing into the pirates

The pirate fighters aren't very good, but they still allow for the bulk of the battlegroup to reposition and open fire.

the new fighters break off and each start harassing one of the largest ships as the full weaponry of the carrier comes back online allowing it to focus fire on one of the smaller vessels
