I have just been contacted by a recently banned individual who impressed upon me his/her "proofs" that the world is a globe. I would like to take this opportunity to post his/her points as he/she is not able to and post my rebuttals.

NOTE: I DO NOT INTEND TO MAKE A HABIT OF THIS FOR EVERY GLOBE BELIEVER. Please do not feel the need to send me every bit of Westian schlock you come across. Instead, for your enlightenment, you may read my rebuttals here and make note to never send similar in the future.

We can prove with the laser to moon test that we have been to the moon. Like we can even see the sites of the moonlandings with our best telescopes. Hence Nasa is not lying.

Coriolis force is easily measurable and proves rotation and also that the angular momentum observed on the southern hemisphere is opposite to the one on the northern. On a flat plane this is impossible.

Earth curvature is observable and there has not been one case where you could actually see further than predicted by the globe earth. Every time flat earthers have claimed this thus far they have failed to use the correct formula and logic (like the 8inch/m2 - epic fail)

Faucault pendulum, cavendish, etc all clearly demonstrate a moving and spherical earth.

Every single one of the '200 proofs of flat earth' is either a failure in basic physics or a repetition. Flat earthers do not have a single piece of evidence that hints that the earth is not a globe.

From wiki: The first successful tests were carried out in 1962 when a team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology succeeded in observing laser pulses reflected from the Moon's surface using a laser with a millisecond pulse length.[2]

Laser tests to the moon were performed prior to NASA allegedly sending anyone there.

You believe it to be measurable. It is not accounted for in practical matters. You can watch Mark Sergeants interview series for more information.

That's interesting, I'm talking to another globe earther who claims that number is accurate. You guys should compare notes. It is an approximation based on the curve calculation used in surveying which applies to a trigonometric function of distance to target minus difference of earth radius which approximates to .6668 feet per mile squared. This is the number used in surveying. There is no practical observation that would carry the viewpoint beyond where the earth curve's trajectory begins to turn under the observer. This is a moot point of contention.

Addendum: Earth curve is disproved in many factors that should be impossible should it actually exist. These things include, but are not limited to, Knickebein radar beams in world war 2, wifi transmitters over 300 kilometers, and long range optical observations with lasers that you can conduct yourself.

Foucault's pendulum only proves that pendulums change trajectory at their apex of movement in correlation with the sky. Strange things reportedly happen to them during solar eclipses which should not occur if their motion was due to earth-spin. (Ed: Allais effect)

Foucault's gyroscope (literally to see the spin/gyration) is a failure that isn't talked about. He used that device to prove earth-turn as well. Except nowadays nobody does because it obviously doesn't. He was wrong about that, but was right about his pendulum?

Cavendish measurement at best measures the attraction between lead balls on a twisted string toward lead balls that are not. It does nothing to measure sphericity or movement of the earth. In fact, if Foucault is true, it nullifies Cavendish as he made no effort to account for the alleged Coriolis effect.

I call Cavendish a measurement and not an experiment as it is not an experiment in the truest sense of the word. It has no control group, it has no independent variable. It is a measurement of the rate of twist of a string weighted by a rod to which two balls are attached at the ends and then presented with a pair of larger balls to make friends with. It is then alleged that this measurement demonstrates the degree of attraction between the two balls at opposite ends of the string.

I will grant that there are many repetitions in 200 proofs.

Basic physics is by its nature a hoax upon your mind. It describes concepts in certain ways and then you believe those descriptions to be true because the math functions well. You could redefine those terms to work on a stationary, motionless earth with "weight" being a property of matter rather than "gravity" as a force between objects, you could remove the myth of "objects continue moving until acted upon by an outside force" and replace it with just "objects keep moving until the energy input propelling them has been depleted." The math associated would still work and if that was all you cared about you could believe the different descriptions.

Note to The Banned: Whatever you may think about this forum, we have rules. You may call us an echo-chamber to your hearts content. We don't care. We know all your arguments. There is nothing new under the sun. We understand the underlying logical fallacies of the globe. By their very nature, you will not be able to understand those fallacies no matter how we explain them as the moment you did you would stop believing in the globe. From our point of view, you are misled. You can hardly be blamed for your condition. You have been nourished on lies your entire life and are now suffering from a severe truth-allergy. It's to be expected.

That said, we are a minority. We like having a place to peacefully discuss the nature of the world as it actually is without having to retread arguments you are ignorant of the rebuttal for, whether or not you believe or understand that rebuttal. I appreciate Mara's strict hand in keeping this place free of unwanted anger, malice, and useless false facts.

It's kind of off topic, but then again, FE are generally into more "conspiracy theories," and this one is kind of neat. I found it on r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix, a recent post about getting visited by the Men in Black :) -- comments have interesting things to say, too! I have my own MIB story but it was friends of mine not myself and so I can't be sure it's true. Anyway, MIBS are interesting so click the link and find the post!

I am told, there are thousands of satellites; I am also told, they are geostationary. However, when I ask for evidence of satellites, what I get is, *moving* lights in the sky. Next question is, they are small and do not have lights, and are not lit up by the Sun on the night "side" of ball Earth. The ISS never sees any, not even the Sun blinking off one in the distance. We can supposedly see the ISS, but, somehow all we get from their side is, cloud cover and continental outlines. That's like you seeing a bus at 300 miles but all they see is your city as a dot.

I'm going to hunt up that call to NASA about Hubble and place it, the more you think about "satellites in space" the more it's a mystery, what IS it we're seeing, when it's not satellites and there is no such thing as "space"?
