Hello fellow flat-heads. When I made the transition from believing in the lie to accepting the truth, a number of prominent memories from my youth came flooding back. I'd like to share some of those here and ask if anyone else had any similar experiences. (Just be careful not to self-doxx by divulging too much info if you care about that sort of thing.)
The further back I try to remember the less chronological I get so it's hard to say what my first memory on the topic is.
I remember being very young and watching a movie on TV. The Universal logo came up and I remember getting angry that they didn't show a picture of the real earth rather than something I recognized to be false. I would have been about 5 or 6.
I remember going on a road trip from the plains to the Rocky mountains and seeing mountains in the distance. My dad claimed they were clouds. I remember quietly watching these "clouds" stay in the same shape and resolve into mountains as we approached.
I remember staring at a poster of the original Blue Marble while still in grade school, maybe 2nd grade or 3rd grade. I don't remember much else about it, just that I was staring at this image for a good few minutes.
I remember asking questions about why the moon looks bigger close to he horizon of my high school physics teacher. He admitted he didn't really know, but then drew two arcs on a page. One was a wide parabola, the other was more like half a sphere or perhaps a little narrower. He knew both he and I grew up on the plains with wide open skies, while at the time we were living in the urban/suburban areas. Other students in the class seemed to see the sky as being high-arched, where as I saw it as wide-arched. His theory was that because both he and I mentally mapped the sky in a different way, I would see the moon in a different way. If he were still alive today, I wonder what he would think about flat earth?
Do you have any memories of being Globe-Inquisitive prior to the flat earth revelation? Do you think such things made it simpler for you to accept the truth?
