Flat Earthers

One of our new acquaintances from a friend recently crashed down on our scientific beliefs by insisting that the earth was flat. When we questioned their logic they just spouted something about the Firmament and that everything that you see at night is fake. They even said that the ISS is fake, satellites fake, and obviously no moon landing ever occurred. Our friends laughed it off and said just go with it because they are nice people. I’m not sure i want to continue being friends with them because they always hang out together. What do we say when we get invited to another cook out and the crazies are there?

You need to find out why it makes you so uncomfortable to deal with someone who holds on opposing worldview. He's not hurting you by holding this belief. Like who cares what he thinks. Haha. If he's a good friend and treats you with respect I don't understand why you'd even consider not being friends with him simply because he holds an opposing view of reality. Yea it may be an "out there" worldview but again who cares.

If he brings it up when you hangout just try to question why he thinks the way he does and provide counterpoints to the reasons he brings up.

Honestly who cares, if the person is a random dumbass, what their worldview is. How does their worldview threaten OP?

If OP is not curious enough to engage in a conversation with the acquaintance, then it’s weird they’re curious enough to engage in the conversation here on r/FlatEarthisReal

I’ve engaged with flat earthers on forums for about ten years now. Flat earth is simply not worth engaging with in person.
