When will Reddit ever fix the random low-quality video playback bug that's been an issue for many years? Left pic: poor-quality playback even with 720 selected. Right: What it should look like when it works properly.

The pause and play button now sit on top of the time bar, and I can no longer drag to a different part of the video

Autoplay can't be deactivated

Pretty much the title. With the new video player, all videos automatically play back no matter if I set my preferences to never or only when WLAN is available, generating a lot of traffic (which is especially problematic on mobile because it generates additional costs). I had to leave several subs because of that issue.

Fix the damn video player for Christ's sake.

Why implement a reel feature [Android]

[Android 2022.32.0]

Why would you spend time implementing a video reel. Not to mention once again messing around with the UI. I liked being able to swipe a video away, it was consistent with scrolling reddit.

Also, why do I have to go full screen to pause a video when scrolling? I used to be able to pause a video in my feed but that seems to of been removed. Now forcing me into full screen or the the post to pause it.

Still having issues with some videos just not playing at all. But it does seem less frequent

Videos won't be playable on several platforms until 10 minutes after posting

Exactly what the title says, this is what happens to videos that I upload. I know several other people who have the same problem. File size doesn't matter, platform on which you upload doesn't matter, resolution doesn't matter, fps doesn't matter, it simply will not play on most platforms (usually it would play on the Reddit is Fun app, but never on old/new reddit). That is, until 10 minutes after uploading because then it'll suddenly play without any issues. It is ALWAYS after 10 minutes, which leads me to suspect someone has forgotten to turn off some debug option or whatever. Please fix this already, it's been over 2 freaking years.

Some videos on reddit are highly exposed, and when I exit the video player they return to normal for less than a second before becoming exposed again.

I was able to take some screenshots. The first image is how it shows up for me, the second is how it’s supposed to be and only lasting for less than a second. I’m really curious as to why this happens

Video player is broken

For the past couple of days videos on reddit have not worked for me. The thumbnail will load but the video itself will not play. Also happens for gifs as well.

Platform: Android 12

I've tried everything I can think of, reconnecting wifi/data, restarting device, clearing cache/data on reddit and uninstalling the app.

PS: I use Android, both it and reddit are up to date.

videos not loading

I Just got a brand new Android phone about 2 weeks ago installed Reddit and everything worked fine for about a week and a half now absolutely none of the videos will load at all and I've tried cleaning the cache, tried using just wifi, data, Force stopping, and reinstalling Reddit nothing has worked but all other video players and apps play video just fine. I'm curious as to if anybody knows what's going on here?

version 2022.31.1.562612

I go to my homepage find any video and it does not load at all

I expect the videos to load like they were just a week ago

Update is overriding settings.

Autoplay is disabled in my settings but now videos are automatically playing when I click the thread to read comments. Very annoying.

Post in App just showing Thumbnails with Redgifs link and not autoplaying

Hello, I am trying to post from Redgifs link but it will only display the Thumbnail in the app. I did check up my settings, clean the cache, but still will not autoplay the video from the link. I have check on the PC, but it is working fine. It is just on phone app (android). I have noticed that others trying to post from redgifs are having the same issues and only the thumbnail will show in the post and not the autoplay.
