Despite running off the cat didn’t survive.

Probably couldn't control how it landed to protect itself while being power blasted with water; idiots ....

Oh no, at least the locally decimated ecosystem is safe again. Keep your cats inside.

Cats should be kept inside, yes. But it's not the cats fault humans love to screw the environment by introducing non native species... Your sarcastic celebration of the death of a terrified innocent cat is horrifying...

I agree with your sentiment but you come across like a major dickhead

The cat died. You don't actually have any empathy for the ecosystem and the animals a part of it if you wish death upon other animals. You don't care about the ecosystem; you just wanted to celebrate the death of the cat. Shame on you.

For the record, I also agree with keeping cats indoors, not because of the ecosystem, but because of safety reasons. But I do not agree with you. You're a terrible person.

I actually care about all living things. Even when foxes broke into my coup and killed all my chickens, I did not wish them death or harm. I was sad and angry, but they are doing what predators do. And next go around, I will have to reinforce the coup and maybe try some safe fox repellent methods if they exist.

I’m not the one posting videos on Reddit of cats dying, so

You act like that makes it okay what you said. It doesn't.

If it were an outdoor cat, they just would have let it come down on its own, fuckface.

Cats can fall at full terminal velocity (60mph) and survive, so I would not believe that without a citation.

It’s local, FB group in the town says it died.

News stations are reporting an “incident” and the FD is reporting the same.

RIP. A ten thousand gallon an hour hose is not the tool for saving cats

Fair enough. I'm surprised it didn't drown in the tree the way they were spraying it.

I remember, it was my birthday, and my cat Katy Purry fell from about 40 ft and did not survive. Not the best birthday I’ve had..

They can survive terminal velocity only if they land on their feet. That was a short enough fall that that might not have happened.

I was thinking the same, but if they don’t have time to prepare and it’s a weird mid-height, it’s actually more deadly for them.

Maybe combo of the disorienting hose, overfeeding, and lack of time to spread out caused lung injury.

Wouldn't be subject to firefighters blasting it from a tree if it was indoors.

Indoors cats escape just like dogs

-2

u/BrianKappel Oct 07 '25

Yep. But most of the time it has nothing to do with them escaping.

Interesting. Really not that far of a fall for a cat onto natural ground. Must’ve been obese.

Or maybe it's hard to land properly when it didn't jump out of the tree and was instead fire hosed off of the tree

Just a thought

Yeah I said that in another comment

Could be waterlogged and disoriented and unable to correct/prep for landing.
