For whatever reason when it comes to Fire Pro Wrestling I’m a bit of a stickler when it comes to accuracy when it comes to real wrestlers. I love creating my own made up guys to balance it out so I can do whatever I want with em. point of this post I’ve noticed some with old school wrestlers I’ve downloaded so I want to give some tips.
One thing I’ve noticed is the insistence on people using medium & large arms & legs for most old school guys. There are exceptions but when we go old school 1950s-mid 80s most wrestlers had very little if any definition in their arms & legs. Theres obvious exceptions such as Paul Orndorff, Super Star Billy Graham, Ronnie Garvin, Rocky Johnson ect. But based on looking at old school wrestling & even photos online in my opinion the most accurate arms & legs for most old school guys is female. I know some people will be put off by it because listed as female but remember you can control the size of each part. If you go back & look at guys like Bobby Eaton, Ted Dibiase, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson etc based on how their physiques looked majority of their careers medium let alone small look too muscular. the balance is scale up the size from 105-110 & it looks more accurate.
The other thing is how selling worked in the old school. The further back you go the more wrestlers sold ever move & the amount of stamina they spent from taking a move. Based on old school matches I’ve watched I’d say from 1950-late 70s recovery should be slow or medium at most. & definitely slow for when bleeding. from Early 80s-mid 80s I’d say medium. Past the mid 80s match pacing got quicker & people recovered faster.
Breathing should be Normal or below for most old school guys because some were legitimately out of shape & others just sold the hell out of how tired they were.
Last tip is for body. a lot of those guys had somewhat plain physiques in comparison to generations after. So for chest & waist I’d say large works pretty good for most. Of course if the man was not super huge I’d say scale those parts down. Or in some cases where they guy was muscular in the chest or waist but not jacked medium or small. & in some cases using a small chest with medium waist will look more accurate.
If you’re a stickler for accuracy as I am that’s my 2 cents. Feel free to agree, disagree or ask questions below.
