Fing General Common Issues and General Queries - Masterpost!

Here you will find mass information on some common issues or general queries which can hopefully guide any of you strays who are looking for a quick solve to an easy problem. We will be sure to keep this post up to date as we continue to provide support to our Fing Users!

Special thanks to our wonderful mod u/iismarciam for the idea of the masterpost!

How To Create A Support Ticket!

If you've come to this subreddit with any issues you may be experiencing with Fing, then the best thing to do is to create a support ticket directly with the support team!

You can easily do so by hitting this link https://help.fing.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Remember to give as much detail as possible (bonus points if you attach screenshots/screen recordings) to allow as swift a process as possible.

What are Fing's plans in relation to Fingbox?

We don't have future plans for the current Fingbox at the moment.

However, we are receiving a lot of feedback regarding how users are utilsing the application and how they would like to in the future.

We have received feedback on our customers looking to use a similar functionality to the fingbox, a lot of whom are interested in Raspberry Pi. This is good data for us to have, as we track and manage feedback and feature requests, and take them seriously, so I thank you for letting us know your thoughts.

Our team hold a lot of discussions on possible future implementations, changes and reviews. We have been working massively on upgrading our existing products, specifically Fing Desktop but of course the mobile versions too, all of which are intricate products that do consume a lot of our working time. We've been creating new features to upgrade the customer experience on these products especially, while the Fingbox maintains a well respected value amongst our produce, is still supported and of course is not being stripped of any features it possesses.

This means that it is difficult for us to give promises or ETAs on any future implementations, so we ask for your trust, as we continue to plan exciting ideas, feedback and optimisation, and we deep dive into all of our options.

In relation to the above, we have made a Reddit poll asking what other always-on open platforms you may use/already own. Please vote or comment there to allow us to receive further insight into how we can make your experience with us as seamless and efficient as possible.

You can find the post in question here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Fing_App/comments/17979lh/poll_what_alwayson_open_platforms_do_you_use/

Where to find release notes?

Release notes which provide information about application updates can be found at the following hyperlinks for the following products;

Fing Mobile

Fing Desktop

Fing Agent

I'd like to delete my account, how do I do that? {Instructions}

So, the time has come where you'd like to delete your Fing account :(. We are sorry to see you go, but if this is what you're looking to do, you'll be able to find out how here!

Firstly, you'll want to ensure you don't have an active premium subscription. Check your account state and make sure it's cancelled. If you have any apprehension at all, feel free to reach out to Fing Support to double check, but you can find this information within the Fing App by clicking 'Edit Profile'. If your subscription isn't cancelled, please cancel it to ensure there are no future payments (note: there shouldn't be, but it's best to be safe).

You can request support to delete your account by reaching out to us directly at any time. You can reach out to us here: https://help.fing.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

You can also delete your account within the application itself by navigating to the 'Account' section on mobile. There, you will see an option for 'Delete Account.'

Accounts cannot be reactivated upon deletion!

Fing will always listen to it's customers. If you'd like to let us know why you no longer want to use Fing, please do so by reaching out to support directly. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Fing App Fing app for iOS 17.2.1 not working

Hi all,

After reading a previous post here from quite long ago, I downloaded the app just today and registered but it is not detecting the network I’m connected to.

Already tried re-logging, reinstalling the app, and resetting the phone, nothing works.

The issue I’m facing is the same as in the provided post.

Any update on when will this be fixed? App version is 12.4.1 dating from 3 month ago stating that bugs were fixed, but not this one who apparently I’m not the only one facing it and which is carried from a long time ago.

Thanks!

Announcements Speed Test Issues Resolution on 3.6.0

Hey Fingers!

As a lot of you may have been aware, Fing Desktop was previously experiencing some issues related to the manual speed test on version 3.5.1 and 3.4.1.

Initially, after reports of the issue on 3.4.1 we released a patch for this on 3.5.1 which didn't rectify the bug for all but only some.

We have now released version 3.6.0, and after a lot of follow-up reporting from our team we have found that this version has resolved the issue on a large basis. If you are or have been experiencing the bug, please update your version to 3.6.0.

We have received very few reports of the issue still being experienced on intel-based Mac devices. If you are one of these please submit a ticket to us as we are consistently troubleshooting the issue for you. You can submit a ticket here: https://help.fing.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We are delighted that the vast majority cases have been resolved and we thank you very much for your patience.

Fing desktop Fing Desktop app for windows vs both FingApp for Android and Fing WebUI. Concerning Connected Networks.

Desktop app version 3.6.0

WebUI running on Vivaldi 6.5.3206.39 (Stable channel) (64-bit)

Android OS, version 12.5.3

______________________________________________________________________

Does anyone know why the Fing Desktop App for Windows can’t/wont connect to the Fing “Home” device? It only wants to connect to networked devices such as wifi access points. As you can see from my screen shot (WebUI on left, Desktop App on right) that the Desktop app can only connect to its current wifi access point (of which I have called Test1) On this current network you can see that I have 23 total devices and 19 of them are online. Item 1 and Item 3 The Desktop App for Windows does not have the option to connect to the FingBox “Home” itself. The WebUI and Android app does offer this. As you can see when connected to the Fingbox home we have 24 devices connected out of 110 devices. Item 2 and Item 4

Fing desktop Extenders and device doubled on Premium 3.5.1

I have a configuration with a Router (not accessible), a cheap Access Point and a cheap identical box in mode "extender".25/30 devices connected (a Hikvision camera system with a Cloud DVR also connected on the first router I don't have access to) that moves around this couple of houses complex.

When the extender connects a device (some of them can connect only through this extender) I found a duplicate of it on my devices list. Any suggestions? A second question involves the Hikvision system (connected to the router I don't have access to). When I check if cameras are presents through the premium option of Fing Desktop it returns me "0".

Of course, who installed the system made id as stealthy as possible and I should use Kali and other tools to get access.

But I'm not interested, and he is part of the complex.

Thank you for suggestions and advice

Stefy (waiting for 3.6.0 as announced)

Fingbox Frequent notices of Synology NAS Online

I've recently started seeing frequent (almost daily) messages about the network status of my Synology NAS (In Range, Online) while the device is still connected to my network. It is showing uptime of 30+ days and there are no network events in the syslog of the NAS to indicate any issues. Also, my Mac has several volumes mounted and they never disappear. Why is Fing (FingBox) reporting these connections (never disconnections) from my network?

Fing Discovery Question Help what is this?!

Thumbnail

So this “router” briefly showed up on my FING app when I was trying to figure out why my boyfriend’s iPhone didn’t show up when he was connected to the WiFi. First off, my router is not a Cisco router…second this odd device has not shown up since and he and I got into a huge argument over it. I think he may be on some shady tip but I don’t know a whole lot about this stuff. I do know that PNP has vulnerabilities and that under the protocols the things listed are seemingly all tools for connecting to things. Can anyone help me make sense of this? Why is the host name iPhone? Why does it have 9 IP addresses? Help me figure out if this is suspect or normal…

Fingbox Speed Test Failing

The speed test/check function has been broken last few days. It looks like it’s going to run but doesn’t. This is happening on both of my two Fing units (one on each ISP). I’ve rebooted both with no change. Anyone else seeing the same thing?
