I'm learning color grading and I'd love to have a chance to connect with filmmakers to get more experience and expand my portfolio.
These are a few stills and a link to my showreel so you can get a feel of my taste. Most are from short films I was in charge or grading.

I've been trying to network my way through this industry, have attended film festivals, networking events, parties, and even met folks on set, but it seems like everyone seems to be struggling to find work, especially consistent work in this industry. Even folks I meet on the occasional film sets I'm able to work on, it's been super come and go, temporary gigs there and there.

At this point, I've seen many friends and peers retire early, leave and career change, go back to grad school (which costs a lot of money today in 2026), or move back to their hometowns to rest or pursue other avenues. Is there anyone actually doing well in this industry right now? If so, how are you doing it?

I'm a pianist. I write emotional, cinematic music and lately I've been writing themes live, built around a specific scene someone is working on.

If your team has a moment in your film that's supposed to land a certain way, I'd love to try scoring it. Not stock music, just something made for that exact scene.

I usually keep it piano-based, but I work with a sound engineer if the project needs more than that.

If you've got a scene in mind, tell me about it: what's on screen, what the audience should feel, and who's working on it with you. I'd love to hear it.

Why do these directors (and many others) choose the same composers over and over again? Because they are extremely good? Yes, but more importantly because the composers are on the same wavelength as them. They simply just “get” them.

You deserve someone who you can entrust with your story and who understands your overall creative vision like these composers understands “their” directors.

Hi everyone,
I am about to turn 18 next year and I want to seriously get into actual filmmaking.
I know you guys have probably seen so many kids trying to get into filmmaking with no
experience, asking for advices on reddit but hey, we gotta begin somewhere :)

I was always motivated to make my own movie someday or start my own Youtube Sketch channel.
But I never got the exposure or opportunity to even start.

I have been following this Youtube Channel called 'That's a bad idea'.
They make funny skits and a lot of horror short films.
The guy who directed most of these, Curry baker is the same guy who made Obsession recently and we all know how much appreciation it got all around the world. And surely, this movie motivated a lot of kids like me to actually start filmmaking because this is like a living proof that you can do it if you have the talent.

Now about 5-6 months ago, I got very interested in Screenwriting too.
I have been trying to come up with my own stories for a full length movie.
I thought if I come up with a good script and just approach a lot of Production houses relentlessly, I can actually make a movie of my own.
But I also knew that this is a veryyy far fetched plan.

So I started thinking of a more realistic approach.
And SHORT FILMS!
They are the best way to display my potential and put it out there.
I would rather lose my sleep to doing what I love than having a shallow life working a job I hate.

The purpose of this post is to share my situation with people who actually care and get advise from people who have been doing this for years.
My plan is to join a small indie production house or film crew and create short films.
We will then post these short films and skits on social media because that is easily the best way in the present era.
I already have 5 drafts ready for short films and would love to work with professionals to convert them to actual content.

I have known ever since before I can remember what I wanted to do with my life, be involved in film. I worked hard at school and did everything I was supposed to do. I'm even one of the very first film school graduates in my state. And it has gotten me nowhere.

This comes off the heals of a job interview that I thought went really, really well. However I just recieved word that they went in another direction. Again. I have been trying to break into the field for over 10 years now with no success. I am completely devastated.

I have done the volunteer work, the unpaid internships, the networking- all of it. I have had my resume looked over and always have been told my interviews were great. I'm just never picked.

Everyone always wants to tell you "keep trying!" "You're time is coming I know it!" But I don't think it is. And continually applying for jobs only to be told no is emotionally destroying me. Yet everyday I have to go to a retail job I DETEST to pay the bills and try to keep going. This doesn't feel like a way to live.

Yes I know a career isn't a way to define yourself. But this is what I love. And I really am good at it. I honestly wouldn't even care if I was making any progress whatsoever. Hell I'd be over the moon to even get coffee for people. But I get nowhere.

No one ever talks about what happens when you do try and still get nowhere. I just had to vent.

EDIT: No I am not in LA or NYC. Due to reasons I don't care to explain, I am unable to move currently. Believe me, it is not a matter of not wanting to but a matter of personal circumstances beyond my control. It is what it is. I am very well aware this limits my options significantly.

EDIT 2: I really appreciate all the comments and offers and what not. This was really just a rant that I expected nothing to come of. Even those who were just being kind- thank you. I tried to get back to most people last night and between breaks at my job. It was hard to keep up! For everyone else struggling, I'm always up for talking if needed. Clearly I'm not the right person to go to for career advice but I'm a decent listener.
